These "muscle heads" will never respect that this guys are doing this crazy speeds and times with a SIX CYLINDER engine. If you people prefer 8 cylinders why and the fuck are you here? BTW, I love the Camaro and some of the old school cars, but for FUCKS sake. Quit fucking HATING. BTW, I enjoy the design of Sangyup Lee (New Camaro Designer)
Real "Muslce Heads" will respect this as guys like me grew up watching 6 cylinder turbo Buicks doing this in the 80's while older guys may remember turbo 6 banger Corvairs in the 60's before Porsche, Toyota, etc.
The nitro funny cars do it 3 seconds faster. But a 4 cyl will go around a track faster, and be a lot more fun...If car manufacturers would have made a decent 90 degree 4L+ V6 they'd be doing the same thing. But they didn't, because the V8 was a superior motor(over the V6). Why are there very few straight 8's? Because the straight 6 did everything it could do, better. Why waste time on a 1/4 mile car anyway? It seems pointless if you can't drive it around a track or on the road.
wolfy9005 " "The nitro funny cars do it 3 seconds faster." Are we actually comparing a full fledged dragster with a minimum of 500 cubic inches with this 2JZ 3.0 Toyota Supra motor? of course is going to be 3 second faster for obvious reasons, but that isn't the argument here.
Luke Kindred But it sure makes it easier. The issue I have with the 6's is that to get that much power you need those crazy high RPMs. That makes the car literally unstreetable. I like to look to Larry Larson for why I like the 8's. This guy built the fastest street car in the world. His S-10 runs the same times as this Supra but he actually pulls his own trailer with the S-10 to the track. And for the event he uses this car for he has to drive to multiple tracks. And also 6 or 8 cylinders isn't the difference. The difference is displacement. I'm not sure what liter size that engine is. Do you know?
Caleb Davidhizar I don't know the exact displacement but standard it'd a 3.0L so I'm guessing it's been bored to 3.4-3.5L, and I see what you mean with the S10 bit I've never really been a fan of V8's
The best choice is displacement. There isn't much of a weight difference between a big block and a 2jz believe it or not. Not a big enough difference to validate a less powerful engine. As I said before you can get big amounts of power from a small displacement engine. The only problem is that your peak power is at a higher RPM. In the real world outside of this Supra and Larry Larson that isn't a logical choice for power because as I said before it becomes unstreetable. Also if you want a lot of power in your supra the only way to keep up with the muscle heads is to do it with turbos. You can put 700 hp in your supra with turbos but the guy in the chevelle did it without turbos. And at that point your supra engine is way heavier than the 454 big block.
OfficialKilluminarty 2JZ engine, which is the original Supra 6-cylinder motor. Obviously breathed on, but it's damned impressive to pull this much power out of a 20 year-old 6-banger.
Martin L Because the supra is the only car outside of Japan that uses the 2jz-GTE while cars like the lexus is300 use the 2jz-GE. The GTE is twin turbo'd and, while stock, reached Japan's "gentleman's agreement" of not going over 280hp. Maybe more outside of Japan. So they built it to very higher standards compared to the GE.
Martin L The 2JZ is basically a motor that belongs to the JZ Toyota family inline 6 cylinders motor. There is the 1JZ 2.5L., and the 2JZ 3.0L. The first ever JZ motor was the 1JZ-GTE (2.500cc) designed in 1989 and was first installed in a mk3 Supra in 1990, the JZA70 Toyota Supra twin turbo R model which was available in the Japanese domestic market only. Then in 1991 Toyota expanded the 1JZ motor and gave it +500cc more and made the 2JZ 3.000cc motor which was first installed at the end of 1991 in the Toyota Aristo V model, the JZS147 which was a luxury sedan car (future Lexus model). Then after 2 years in mid 1993 the 2JZGTE twin turbo version was introduced in the mk4 Toyota Supra JZA80 platform . SO , THE 2JZ IS CALLED A SUPRA MOTOR BECAUSE AS A MOTOR , THE JZ....WAS FIRST INTRODUCED IN A TOYOTA SUPRA.... THE JZA70 SUPRA TWIN TURBO WITH THE 1JZ-GTE MOTOR ! So, long live the mk3 Supra that started everything with all the high tech put in it's platform, the A70 model platform... Peace !
Martin L Also, rumors coming from Japan say that back in early 1991 some experiment in-factory non production JZA70 mk3 Supra RHD models were running some 2JZ-GTE motors for testing... and that's true since a 2JZ engine can be swapped into the mk3 A70 chassis with just 2 Toyota oem parts from the existing 1JZ motor like the bellhousing and the motor mounts/brackets is ALL you need to mate the 2JZ motor in the engine bay and attach it to the mk3 Supra turbo's transmission (R154). No other modification is needed...none! Then it's just the engine loom/wiring to be done and you are good to go! So simple!
Fusions RV really. i always thought they added power. I think u're wrong mate. U have to get those tiger stickers, those are the cheapest and adds the most HP.
Soooo many hater s on the tube . Obviously these guys are doing something right ,And if driving a drag car didnt take any skill why do drivers get paid to do it ?Its like when I run heavy equipment , people think its easy until you put them in the seat under pressure on a real job. It definitely takes core talent but you also need time in the seat to be competitive.
Absolutely amazing. I started taking engines apart when I was thirteen years old. By the time I was 17 I was modifying 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines for road, boats and track. I know 'Some' of what goes into building a car of this calibre. Bravo.
Others saying it's not a supra anymore. It was originally bought as stock supra. they removed the front part of the car and replace it with plastic and made it a bit larger which means weight reduction. The rear part have still the stock taillights, which proves the rear part wasn't moved but they added something. These guys saying it's not a supra anymore. It's like saying an Asian got a blood and heart transplant from an American and the Asian is not Asian anymore.
+Forgetful Bloke Well the comparison is not exactly correct in my opinion- of course it will still be an Asian, and in this case you are correct. THe car was hardly modified, we do not speak about suspension kits and exterior kits. It is a whole different wheelbase, different axles, different engine parts, but you are correct. This is still a Supra, as it has the Supra engine block. In my opinion as long as you modify your engine, and you keep installing more and more racing pistons, rods, bearings, turbos and coolers and all are out of the question, but as much as you tuned the engine, it is still the Supra block. They build my Volvo V40 t4 up to 700hp, at least they used to more than 6 years ago, and it was keeping the wheelbase, engine block and many more. Supras are known for handling ultra heavy mods to their engines. Where what you say may not be true, is replacing everything in a car, for instance if the engine was not from Supra, and the axles are thicker, and the chassis is powered, and everything has been replaced the car is only keeping the exterior shape, kind of, so you can see it is a Supra, but it no longer is.
just wanna say that i got the goosebumps from this movie, the entusiasim ,the look in his eyes when he tells about his first supra, the will to win and everything else i cant name
Holy mother of god!!! When that world record attempt Supra where revving up for a launch I had my jaw dropped on the floor! That thing is straight from hell! And I LOVE IT!
Um I disagree considering it's running a 2JZ 6 cylinder motor, obviously heavily modded... But there's also many things that this car has that still makes this a Supra.
+DeMamp its not the original supra anymore. they only call it coz the engine block is still intact. and the tub is from a previous supra. infact they can call it in different name because of too many modification done to that supra
I see the comments and all of them are cringing about "oh it'z not a zupra" dude, stfu, it's a JZ engine, maybe the wheelbase is not the same as the original, but c'mon, they worked hard to make this suprs
Yes , plus they need to have the car prepared like that because of security reasons , but its one of the few cars ive seen with their original engine doing low times like this , other type of cars in this category has other engines ... soo yep
there are RX7's and GTR's that are doing similar times to this, there is also a class that has V8's that are naturally aspirated that run 6's. get off the couch and go out to a track :)
He should come to the States and enter it in the Pro Mod Class in the NHRA or any of the other lesser known drag racing series. We've got Pro Mods, (which is generally what this is) running 5.80's and lower in the ¼.Why doesn't he try to get it street legal like Andy Frost did to his vauxhall. He has the record for the fastest street legal car at a 6.40 in the ¼ mile.
Anders Kristensen Is there anything on that supra that is stock except the rear and the windshield? You mean to tell me that this is road legal? The Alpha Omega series GT-R r35 can be driven on the road and can run 10s if not 9s. This Supra is a bag of shiet.
Dean Murphy yea but the gtr was also built for drag racing as well. When it comes to drags. Street legal doesn't really have a part because the car is for the strip. There's just no way a gtr is going to smoke the supra and I say that because awd cars in general do not have the capabilities of achieving a top speed. And also the power that the 2jz can handle is far more superior than the gtrs. Not to mention the supra requires a skill in order to drive where as any little boy can go and mess with a gtr's paddles lol
Ameer khan Your Hilarious. Alpha Omega is a GTR just highly modified. This so called supra is bits and bobs off Supras to make it look like a Supra. This isn't a car. It is a dragster. Alpha Omega is a car that is tuned to smoke anything and everything while still being able to do the weekly shopping :P
Dean Murphy i honestly do not know anyone who does their weekly shopping with a 2000hp car. and stop getting butt hurt just because the gtr isnt the fastest import out there, and a dragster you say? do you even know what a dragster is? lol i do not see a big wing, nor a long body with tiny wheels and no proper steering on this car. if im also correct a dragster is a car whose engine is ajoined with another engine and or for the most part customly built. so idk why youre calling it a dragster haha
Mr.Ebrahim kanoo, I have no words on your all works and the huge collections Godspeed cars , Believe me you are the best , If I got some money next time I will visit your garage, May allah bless you , Lots of love from India
Dang I was just looking to see if anyone would post about how crazy fast it is going at 366.57MPH instead of KMH. But, jeeze there are a lot of people hating. If you swap the tranny out of a Supra from a different vehicle, it is still a Supra. If I take parts of the car off to make it lighter and weld a bunch of tubes together to make the Supra stronger and safer, it is still a Supra. If you gut all of the interior it is still a Supra. If you replace the hood and fenders it is still a Supra. It has the same shell and motor as a Supra, therefore it is a Supra, a heavily modified Supra, but still a Supra.
I dont want to burst any bubbles, but the only thing that classifies this thing as a Supra is the shell that they splapped over a dragsters chassis. it deffinatly wouldnt have a toyota engine or transmission any more, it would be custom made everything right down to the pressure and heat resistant alloy. a Toyota Corolla is closer to being a Supra then this thing.
+Jake Dunn It's a Supra drag car my friend, you won't see it at the supermarket parking lot or at the drugstore or in the center park... It has quite a lot of it's oem parts on modded or not if you wanna know ;-) And most important it has a stock iron block and crank (modded crank to unkown specs).
I think if the block is OEM, or modified OEM, then I would call it whatever car the block came from. Especially if you are still using the same frame/shell. If it is a completely different frame/shell I would say 'Supra Powered'.
WifeBTR123 Theres no supra chassis in this apart from 1 foot of rails in front of the firewall. Just like the painted on intercooler and grill its all to make it look like a supra, doesnt even have the same wheelbase. Go to speedhunters /2011/08/guest_blog_titan_motorsports_gt_gt_supra_build_pt_1/ . For pics of the build
hktc44 baahahhaha stfu ya fukn cockroach... wtf do you know about anything? yes son im a mechanic and yes iv worked on shit you dont even know exists,.... go back to ya moms computer and keep doing your research and then come back and talk to old uncle keith.....
+inuysha360 Most cars don't get offended by racial comments, so there is no need for them. The video is about a car, why the fuck would there be racial comments? Better question, why would you even bring up racial shit here?
+inuysha360 well its people like you that just have to bring up racism everywhere no matter how irrelivant it is that really annoy me. thats why racism will never go away. its a fucking car video for god sake.
Japanese car's r the best.. American car's some of them they look kool.. but noisy as fuck!! It's funny how a Japanese little toy could eat a Muscle car.. lmfao... I put only 7,000$ on my 93 Honda si hatchback and im doing 9second on track 1/4 mile.. Oh (4 piston)
Guys in Boston it no joke about this toys cars.. look out and search first before posting a comment.. Hondas r one of the best cars to build and have fun.. on tracks.. when u put at least 7G on the engine make sure u have a good DINO. Then take ur toy to the tracks so u could see the reaction of that little toy.. i know what i have and im still one of the top 5 in mass for been 9sec on tracks whit a handa.. ;-)
jose merced you stupid fuck. You expect people to believe that shit? For fucks sake you spelled "DYNO" DINO I've been working with and around Honda's for about 8 years. They are fun for the track. With much more than 7 grand. Even if you dumped 7 grand in your motor. The wheels wouldn't keep traction without bars springs shocks wider tires and wheels god damn your unintelligent.
jose merced on a gsr lol! Hahaha your profile has no videos of your toys. Not to mention you prob have never seen a track in your life. So please tell me what size pistons did you use? What's the compression? Your an idiot that watches RU-vid and Googles Acura motors. Im a certified race mechanic with a cert from Honda. You can pretend all you want. Not fooling anyone.
This isn't a Supra... this is just some stuff from supra under a toilet seat that looks - kind of like Supra... otherwise, good stuff :) you earned a like, wise man.
Okay, it's the quickest Tyota.Nice looking, yes, but if I want quickness,i'll always prefer a Chevy V-8 over anything in a Camaro.Just me though,i know this younger generation loves their Japanese tuners.I'd never want one.Andy Frost has the Quickest STREET LEGAL CAR with a Big Block Chevy in a Vauxhall call Red Victor1 that has the record at 6.40 in the ¼ mile. The record for the quickest 1000ft pass in the NHRA is Ron Capps in a Mopar with a 3.96.4.John Force has the official record with a 3.96.6 in a Mustang in an engine based off the 426 hemi with "ford-typed" parts that he calls a Boss 500.Bring the Supra to America or Abu Dahbi and enter it in the Pro Mod catergory which is basically what this car is and watch it get beaten by other pro Mod's doing 5.70's in the ¼ mile. The new world record belongs to John Stanley's Blown Chevy Camaro at 5.644 at 253 mph.
alguncarajo . That's your opinion.I applaud the guy for making his Toyota the quickest Toyota in the world, but anybody that has enough money can do that with ANY car. It's a matter of preference. You think it looks good great, but you can't drive it on the road. That's why I say take it to the closest dragstrip and put it in the Pro Mod catergory. It just might win some races, but then again the Pro Mod Class has some pretty stout competition!
Most Pro Mod cars don't even have headlights, and also use a solid body. So if the record now belongs to a Chevy Camaro, why keep doing it? These guys are doing things most people wouldn't. Some people don't like to follow what everyone else is. Ford, Chevy, it's all been done before, as you've told us.
camarocowboy Also I had to look up pictures - I couldn't get a good view in the video, it does use a solid body. My mistake. Either way - 6.23 is quick, you have to admit. And it's outside of the box.
5 second mustang 4 second corvette this is a straight 6 that only 2.9 liters thats close to half the displacement.... not to mention are either of the running a bottle? Im not knocking the vette or stng hell I was a gm tech for years and used to be all about american cars but as a famous old racer said you gotta give it to these guys. there taking 4 and 6 cyl cars and pushing well over 1000 hp out of them.....
yea I know its kinda sad though. Im looking to trade a cbr 929 i built on cl and this kid from nyc hits me up and asks if id be interested in his 99 bmw 740. when I ask him for some more info on the car he proceeds to tell me about the system and dvd screens he has in the head rest.....
Great video, Shocked to see all the D-Bags commenting. Supra is a Supra. Most anyone would die to drive this car down the strip. Stop hatting on a freaking 6 second car, or go watch someone cross stitch something on youtube instead.
hktc44 It doesn't mater if a V8 has twins or not, 2 turbos aren't really better than one. Two turbos just gives better response rather than one. But anyway a 6 running 6's Is just stupid lol. My sister has a top fuel dragster and that only runs 7's and it's a blown big block chev.
***** Um first of all this supra isn't street legal either. Second off I was praising the supra, Saying that it runs FASTER than my sisters blown dragster. I don't know why you're so upset buddy. And yes the block of her engine cost 165k alone. Why are you so angry when I clearly said the supra was the better car of the two lol.
I felt the same way when I saw it. It sorta looks like one, but shares almost no OE parts as the original. I DO UNDERSTAND that many things for such performance need to be modified. Yet has been changed so much, there is no genetic relation. NASCAR does the same thing. This is not the Supra I see on Sunday and buy on Monday. I wish famous names wouldn't be ripped off like they are now and have been for many years.
It can't be the worlds fastest import because, in Japan it's not an import so, without it being a import in Japan, it cannot be the worlds fastest import.
Yay fellow children, let us all bask in the presence of thy 2J greatness. For it all started back long ago, many moons before now, in 1992 when Toyota released upon thy humble world, the A80 Supra.
Still the best for me is Slammin Sammy Miller, Seen that do 3.4 sec run, mind blowing, and that was in 80s. 13G from the line. He was one of the greats!
Leland Holton While I do understand what you are saying, the Supra featured in this film has much more in common with a streetable Supra than John Force's funny car has with an actual Mustang. Calling this Supra heavily modified would be an understatement, but not incorrect. It started life on the Toyota production line and was purchased from a dealership; it runs an independent rear suspension bolted to the original tub. John Force's Mustang is a purpose built tube chassis funny car.
Amazing video.! Thumbs up all around on the quality, story line and attention to detail. This video, to me, is not about having the worlds fastest Supra. It's about the sheer love and passion for the automotive world. About setting goals and limits then breaking them. Whether you prefer V8 Muscle or Import Turbo'd Monsters you can appreciate the story of this video. There is no "RIGHT" or "WRONG" as to what side of the spectrum you're on. Just the love and thrill of the ride. We ALL share that passion.
there is nothing "supra" left in this car. Every part has been replaced. No seats, empty doors, no glass, no headlights (they're just stickers), engine isn't a supra engine. It's just a supra shell over a frame. That's not a "supra".
Nothing here to see, Its a bait and switch. Just a silly promo video, no actual Supra here.. So much anticipation just to watch a Funny Car with a Supra shell and headlight stickers. Weak..
It's funny watching people argue about import vs American on these videos. The Import lovers however assume this is just a production Supra that anyone can by. Everything is built for racing and tons of money was invested. The transmission and suspension and probably MOST OF THE CAR is all aftermarket. The engine is race built, modified and everything. As is are most engines that get below the 10 second mark. The aftermarket parts are typically supplied by AMERICANS and then put together by AMERICANS and tuned by AMERICANS! Not by Toyota. LOL! So if you should be impressed, be impressed by the AMERICAN TEAM that put this drag car together.
***** Lots of people take stock American engine parts such as heads and have them modified for race. Having the internals balanced and whatnot can help reliability. Heads for one are nothing magical. You put a better set of springs etc on them. It isn't like the hunk of steel or aluminum itself is going to fail. LOL! And ANY highly boosted engine, American or Import, isn't running OEM head gaskets etc. They run aftermarket. Heck, my friend has a OLD 1970's Chrysler 360 engine block and "J" heads. They put 2.02 stainless steel (intake) valves in that sucker and Hemi springs. The block was STOCK but machined and the rotated assembly was balanced for 9,000+ RPM's. They also machine and balance those Toyota engines. It isn't like they are taking a STOCK Toyota inline 6 and are putting 30+ Lbs of boost on it. HA HA! Heck look at the show Street Outlaws. Most of those cars are starting at 1,000 HP and some are at 2,500 HP. Some of it are stock production blocks but they are balanced, line bored, etc to race specs. As are Japanese engines what are pushed like that as well.
hackfreehvac Oh yeah, don't forget that people have done plenty with the mid 80's Buick Turbo V6 as well. Toyota's aren't the only six cylinder built to race. LOL Heck, check out all the 9 second and high 8 second 4X4 TRUCKS! (Yes, 1/4 mile not 1/8). We're talking vehicles that weigh more than twice what a Supra weighs and way more wind drag and some of them being an inline six (Cummins). This car in this video is all out race. It had tons of machine work. It would be like me using a 5,000 HP Top Fuel Dragster as the basis of what any production V8 can do. HA HA
the 2jz is the only engine that i know that can take 1000 hp on stock internals (with the exception of supercars)... NO AMERICAN ENGINE CAN DO THAT!!!!! oh and if you know anything about engines you would know why the stock supra engine is naturally and perfectly, maniacally balance
It's funny how people think " if I have tons of money like you I would do better than this " does he has more money than the world ? No for sure, that's why it's called world record. He has the mind and the practice and years of experience and inspiration. Good luck bro and all the best. Hard work pays off
Lets just stop arguing about "This Supra is not a Supra" or "My V8 is Better" and just revel in the fact that so much time. Dedication. And effort was put to make this thing a reailty.
