The rear bumper, as well as the grille, are 1 year only. I, personally, would not change it to 71/72. It's a hallmark. Although it's not an SS, the round gauges, like in the same era Monte Carlo, are equally desirable. IMHO

Great year! Best chevelle easily! Vise grip is an encyclopedia on these things, and not because of independence, but I remember him saying he has done alot of these. He had a sweet gold one years ago. So I would direct questions in his direction should any pop up.

Your paint code means that your color is desert sand. The first two numbers are the top color from the sail panel below and the roof would be another color. The duplicate number means they were both the same colors. I'm assuming your car had a desert sand colored vinyl top, which was also an option. Pretty cool car though. As far as paint colors, look up Misty blue it's a very light blue and with a set of black super sports stripes would look pretty bad ass. If you want a darker blue fathom blue with white stripes would look pretty cool. Those are 1970 factory colors I like. they also have a misty turquoise but I don't know if that's your speed either.

Chevelles are great cars. Glad to see you building it. I thought I would share a little known secret with you for finding a rear axle. As you are probably aware a Chevelle 12 bolt is really expensive. The next best thing is a 71'/72' Buick or Oldsmoble 8.5" ten bolt. They only came in those two years and only in Buicks and Oldsmobiles. They bolt right into any A body from 67' to 72'. They use a GM corporate 8.5 centre section so all gears and differentials from the 8.5 and 8.6 axles all the way into the 2000s. Those parts are common and cheap. They are also tough. Just as tough as a 12 bolt. Standard axles on the Buick and Olds 8.5s are 28 spline like the Chevy but they are retained by a bearing at the axle housing end not like a Chevy C clip. You can also use the later 8.5 and 8.6 differentials with 30 splines and use aftermarket 30 spline axles for a really beefy axle able to deal with 600hp. The best part is they are cheap. I picked one up recently for $100 Cdn. Please don't paint the car the horrible stock colour. Same for interior. Go with black interior and paint the exterior something cool. I think for a low budget start you should do Satin black like the other Camaro with contrasting gloss white SS stripes. Do a full nice colour paint job later. Big block would be cool. 383 or 400 small block with the TH350 you have would be fine as well.

63 is Copper Poly, or Desert Sand as Chevy called it. January is not early built. Production started in late July (generally) of the previous year. Making January midyear. M38 is a TH350 3 speed auto specifically, M40 would be TH400.

If I were you, I'd be looking for another "parts" (maybe a 4 door donor) car to help with this. Maybe do a CWM Splice-a-thon. The Chinesium panels are cheap in the States but once you bring them to Canada the costs become prohibitive (IMHO). Like someone said below - the Monte Carlo shared some parts.

Why not try color matching those steel wheels on your nomad, in my opinion(which we know everybody has one) I think it's too shiny for black wheels

The thing is, that 55 Nomad is a highly optioned top-level car. Just like SS Chevelles came with upgraded wheels, so should your beautiful Nomad. It just doesn't look right being a top-level car, but having base level wheels. Right? Imagine taking the SS wheels away from the Chevelle and substituting standard hubcaps, it wouldn't look right. That is what us old guys see every time we see your high-level Nomad with poverty caps. Inappropriate. Please try out those mags you have that were lying next to it. You can always go back to the poverty caps if you want to.

I don’t know if that Ivy slowly taking over your garage is poison or not but I’m super allergic so I get itchy just looking at it. 🌱🍃 ☠️ I think the Chevelle will be a great starting point for you, we’ve seen you drag home way worse and make something out of it. Plus they sell pretty much everything for them even new steel bodies.

You are a brave soul to bring this back from the dead. The sheer volume of work on a project like this says a lot. You have a correct mindset on the worst of a "project". If one thinks about a person's time spent working on a basket case it pencils out. Time used at home is as valuable you make it. The time spent at home is worth the same, whether you are working on a car or mowing the lawn. In the end when finished it will be worth quite a bit. My 72 Cutlass is the same platform as a Chevelle and is like driving a couch for comfort.

Found a reference online for the Code 63, they call the color "Desert Sand". WA4240. May not be the color you want to go with, but I did find the code.

Have your engine guys build a mild 454 for you. It's pretty easy to make 450-500 HP with a very mild built 454. You can make more power and torque than the 350 that's in the Nova and still be a daily driver type of car. Paint it Massey-Fergusson Red like the '67 Roadster and add the black stripes. The '70 Chevelle's are my favorite muscle cars as well. I've own two '70 Chevelle's over the years.

The Monte Carlo shared a lot of parts with the Chevelle so keep your eye out for any of them being parted out in your area. You also have extra Camaro parts for trading stock! Personally I’m not a fan of hot rod satin black because it’s on everything and Chevy had some beautiful colors for the 70 model year.

Strips are so over done. Heavy chevys came with cowl hoods and no strips. Those side molding are different. All the chevelles we scrapped I never seen those side moldings before. Think code 55 would look sweet on that. It's different. Red, blue and black is so over done. Even orange. Seen it lowered with 15x 8s all around steel wheels with dog dish. Cool project. What's thr base of the back window like? They rotted there.
