I want to be optimistic. Some kid got a bootleg decade and, thanks to being a dumb kid, had a ball. Years later, he's feeling nostalgic and picks up a DX DecaDriver and was pleasantly surprised by the added functionality of "actually being functional".

Yeah those barcodes are the reason why many people mod decadrivers into having fun custom sounds or also why toys with similar gimmicks are "compatible" but you'd get the equivalent of the decadriver's reading of it.
