Emily's look of doubt when you tell her you can drag the tire just made the entire video. Love it!

Greetings from the UK Phil, thanks for covering this important topic with some great people. It's frustrating when something so important becomes a political football, the communities (and society and the planet as a whole for that matter) that suffer from this pollution deserve better, and our habits have to change. Better/cleaner travel and making this easier for people is an absolute win win. All the best!

As a Dutchie, there's only so much we can do as a tiny country. Real change happens in huge countries like the US and I'm glad to see you're a part of that 👍

I’m visiting Los Angeles in a couple weeks & visiting Culver City so I’m going to add a few of these stops. I also grew up with oil wells in my backyard & the 5/605 as my next door neighbor in SFS. Still recovering from toxic exposure decades later

From European point of view I find it baffling that sort of stuff coexists with people actually living there. Sad.

The Sierra club can pound sand! They pressure utility companies to close up power plants and they did close two in my area! Now my electricity rates have tripled!

I live and work (and ride my bike) in the Sierras, California. Although I get what you’re trying to say, all pollution is bad, and we need to support efforts into improving our air and quality of life. That said, the Sierra Club has consistently fought and derailed management of our federal forests, UFSF. They have consistently opposed fuels reduction projects for decades. The result is extremely unhealthy forests that are not resistant to the effects of climate change. For the last decade I have watch one cataclysmic wildfire after another wipe out entire watersheds in the Sierras. In particular, the Caldor fire started with just one spark, and burned 100,000 acres + towards Tahoe. In between that spark & Tahoe were multiple derailed fuels reduction projects. I understand that there are many groups of caring people that want to improve our way of life, but throwing lawyers (sueing the USFS) at a problem is not the solution. Thanks for the video Phil, I always appreciate your input. But as I drive through these scorched landscapes, I cannot support the sierra club in any form.

I want to explore LA and the area around it by gravel bike at the tail end of a work trip. Do you know of any bike friendly hotels with decent access to the fun stuff? Thanks!

These folks are correct in their struggle against oil drilling in LA, but they are failing to speak out about the massive and increasing problem of RV and car dwellers' illegal dumping of black and grey water, and litter into storm drains.

As bad as all that stuff is, it can't be worse than being near the truck driving guys on their way to Starbucks. 🙂

While I agree in part with the message this video is providing, I find it a bit ironic that you are all wearing and riding products that are created from petroleum. The road they are riding on. Tires, frames, clothing, helmets etc....Electric vehicles are not the panacea they are touted to be. Affordability is a concern. Increased demand from the power grid. EV's don't currently pay a road use tax when they recharge. There is a balance to be struck for sure. But, there is no one answer.
@ole-bboy5875
@ole-bboy5875 Год назад
Excellent point something that people really fail to comprehend how many products are produced with it.. Like EV's.

This is a common one that Morgan addresses in the video. Me doing what I need to do my job doesn’t make me a hypocrite advocating for bigger change. Every little bit counts but we all have to live in society. Don’t get so distracted by separating paper from plastic that you miss where the real impact *has to* come from. By this logic, anyone who believes that things should change would have to check out of modern society and go live in the woods on a sustainable farm or something.

Just because we haven't fully transitioned past fossil fuels yet, doesn't mean that we should be pushing hard in that direction.

Oil is disgusting. It renews my faith in humanity that these wonderful people are working so hard to change local policies. Without government intervention, companies will do whatever they can get away with and whatever is cheapest for them.
