They said in an interview when they first started creating the game, there were no digital assets in the market pertaining to Chinese temples for UE5. So they literally went around all over China scanning historical temples, I believe the count was well over 60 across the whole country. So when you see a visually stunning temple (especially in chapter 3) with an absurd amount of details. That’s because it’s straight out of a historical site. Heck even the engravings can be scanned and found in scriptures and buddhist hymns. That is why it has such an insane amount of support from Chinese players, because they recognize the effort Game Science put into details and historical correctness.
That’s actually amazing, the optimist in me hopes that with how popular this game is it will pave the way for more games to come out based on Chinese mythology. There’s really so much potential that western audiences haven’t been exposed to in a big way before.
holy shit man, this bot uses a mr beast logo and talks about peter scullys film. peter scully is a convicted child murderer and raypist. shits getting worse everyday with these bots.
I really enjoy Charlie's new long form non-live content. With live chat it often feels like Charlie gets frustrated with people saying stuff just to get a reaction out of him. Personally the vibe here feels a lot more relaxed and enjoyable.
I love that we're on the same pace. Everytime I finish an area it's like a minute later the charlie video comes out about him getting to exactly where I stopped. He must be like one area ahead of me.
Wow dude. Super duper cool. You will probably become his best friend and he will give you lots of money and you'll get women and it'll be cool. Keep playing with Charlie brother, I believe in you!!!!
@@Gaswafers I had been mixing it up the whole time really. When I got the spear with the unique move set I started using thrust wayyy more. It’s probably favourite stance now
@@duncanedgin9433 I haven't seen any other games that does that, closest would be making a standard mark in sand, but none accounts for longer weapons that may drag periodically.
For the beetle boss, a lot of desert animals rely on vibrations in the sand around them to sense prey, much like in Dune how the worms would attack anything big enough that made movement on the sands, the beating of the drums would've felt like a large enough animal to suffice leaving the boss's domicile for eating.
I beat the old versions of them and then the present versions and i had no idea those were the same characters until i read some of these comments about them lol
@@sheriffjbunnell2392crack is consumed the same way as regular cocaine or crystal meth. Your options include a straw, a glass pipe, or even a needle if you dare.
Love how this game challenges each player, one boss that is easy for a person is hard for another, and a boss that hard for one person is easy for another.
I’m with you 100%, i very easily beat this boss first try, took all of 2minutes maybe 30 seconds, i think he hit me maybe twice… yet the very first big head baby thing took me out like 12 times, FAR more than any other boss in the game 😂
they dont know what a journal is and just want to speedrun the ending like everyone does... meanwhile im just going into chapter 3 with all secrets and bosses complete chapt.1 and 2. and tried out multiple different builds for fun ;3
Too much freedom creates a sense of emptiness. They can't really create shit when they're basing most of the things from the original novel@@fadedcolors
Coming at you with another lore drop for this area! So pretty much every enemy in the pagoda is called a yaksha, and there are two factions. One is the Blade Monks (the guys who try and ambush you with the yellow robes). Blade Monks were promised higher rank if they can behead 1000 people in the Pagoda, but they're essentially scared of all the other enemies so they hide in corners to try and sneak kills. However archers and other enslaved yakshas are also scared of the Blade Monks, so they hide as well trying to ambush you from the shadows. BUT there's one enemy who isn't scared of either of them; which is the Red Haired Yaksha (big dude with the polearm). In the journal it says this dude cherishes life but kills anyone who comes after him, and his hair is red because he was beheaded when the yaksha kingdom was invaded and it stained his hair. It's pretty funny cause this dude is one of the most powerful in the whole pagoda but charlie basically one shot him and didn't even get to see his cool moveset lol. Final one is the lantern head guards, this one's story is kind of hard to figure out, because his journal entry is a copy-paste of the blade monks which I assume is a bug. It seems like these guys patrol the pagoda after the Dharma Wheel rings (the thing that makes you go crazy and lose health) but who knows where they came from...
Fun fact, if you use cloud step during the part of Captain Wise voice where he drops you to half health, it misses you and you can get some extra damage in
The lil pig guy with the rake you find is one of Wu Kong's buddies from Journey to the west Zhu Bajie in the event the game doesn't explain him. He is one of the two other people that ravel with the priest and helps guard him with Wu Kong in the mythos.
But it honestly seems smaller scale than say games like Elden ring, like I haven’t fully watched any of these videos but I’ve skimmed through most them and it’s just linear corridor with enemies that leads to a big boss fight, rinse and repeat, that really seems to be the theme of this game. As for story idk cause I haven’t been watching the cutscenes but it seems somewhat lackluster as it doesn’t take much tapping to skip through the cutscenes hinting at a lack of them in general. This game is just a boss rush, it’s nothing new and that’s alright as long as people enjoy it. What bothers me is people are acting like this game is some breathtaking, never before seen thing and it’s really not, it’s just another souls like but with more bosses.
@@slayrix279 have you played it? No, dont make generalizations. As someone who plays a lot of video games, and soulslikes, i can confidently say this is not just another soulslike. It is its own game and should be respected as such by those who enjoy it. If you dont flip off to a different corner of the internet.
@@slayrix279the games good. Nothing more nothing less. If you’re saying it’s not good just because it’s like a souls game then just stfu cause souls like games are just fun to play. I mean bro, no one understood elden ring story until like 10 replays and that games amazing but others can’t be?
@@mattmaas5790Essentially any game can be made to sound that simple if you try. Point out one game that rivals this one this year? And explain how it’s sooo much more complex please
@@mattmaas5790 I agree man nothing about this gameplay interests me at all and I wanted to see what the hype was about turns out it’s just another stellar blade etc kinda have fatigue with these games tbh but like you said they just eat it up cause idk “being different”. Dont get me wrong tho im really impressed this was made by a mobile game company tho if they make another game I might buy it and give it a chance.
23:14 You went through all that trouble to have it, you delivered it, and wanted it to call you mom, but then don't like the way it acts when it grows up, and rebels against you. Lmfao! Welcome to motherhood Charlie!
@@timcrook5569 pretty sure he still does but he tends to do it in spurts. He might also be taking a bit for his chat to lose the annoying people who spam drama in his chats.
@TeqnifiiToo yeah he hasn't streamed since everyome thought he was retiring. Good plan for him either way he seems to be having way more fun playing without chat there
@@TeqnifiiToo on his twitch it says that he was last live 23 days ago, he used to stream 2-3 times a week but sadly he is about to skip a whole month, I guess part of it has to do with Mr.beast drama, because they recently did a Collab with em
I think it's so funny that the snout mask buffs you when you drink gourdes and weakens you when you dont. It basically means that you perform better when you're drunk since the gourdes are wine 😂😂😂
I personally loved this boss, he's a bit annoying at first but then you figure out he's just simple and you can cheese easily half of his health bar the beginning.
it was obvious several years before release that this game would be about bosses. I haven't played any souls like game or boss rush games at all. But this one is soo amazing that it will be my first.
That Rat dude has to be the most useful assist character I’ve ever seen in a video game😳 not only was he successfully dodging attacks he was doing considerable amount of damage when he strikes. He’s probably my favorite character so far.
bro charlie i love you for uploading over an hour of you playing this. i would never play games like this but myself but always watch you play everything. big love from germany
on a side note: beetles usually come out whwn its rain and because its so big the drum is meant to imitate the sound of large rain droplets hitting the ground causing the beetle to come appear, idk lol just a theory
I love how the game acted like the pig guy inside the cymbals was some hype introduction despite the fact that basically none of the streamers playing this have any knowledge about Journey to the West. If you read the story, you'll know who piggy is, but otherwise...
The first cpl times you fight Macacque Chief are cool, the last time you fight him is kinda cancer lmao. Not the hardest fight but its a mess. He has clones like you do, he can fly, disappear/teleport, throw long range projectiles, do projections of his attacks, and all of it is red-hued against a red background so its extremely visually messy. And then you get to fight the chapter boss, who is either a normal boss or the hardest challenge you'll face in the game depending on your playstyle & loadout (hint: use spell bind) (double hint: find spell bind first)
im so glad they made this games combat similar to GOW since games like elden ring are where the combat systems get tedious at times and Wukongs entire fucking moveset is so vast they couldn't capture its glory if the souls like combat system was used, ya feel what im saying?
No. Iv already experienced way more tedious boss combat in this game 2 and a bit chapters in than the entirety of ER and SOTE. People just don't remember because the game is really easy and you'll pretty much first or second try every boss.
