I live in Korea. I owned this device, but it was a bit weird and not as user-friendly as I had hoped. So, recently, when I was selling German Bundeswehr equipment, I bought a US military LC-2 webbing gear set, and I think it is much more durable and practical than the German Bundeswehr equipment. I am very satisfied with the LC-2 and have no regrets selling the Bundeswehr webbing.

When I did my service, we were issued the predecessor, with the infamous Koppeltragehilfe. Which was essentially still WW2 style gear. The Lochkoppel (never used it myself) seems to me like one of those things where Germany was trying to reinvent something and completely missed the point. The russian Ratnik gear seems like a more useful take on classic load bearing equipment from what I’ve seen.
@PowermadNavigator
@PowermadNavigator 2 часа назад
Too bad the Ratnik has basically a 500 hour usage life. I paid a fortune for mine 7 years ago, it can't even withstand airsoft. I have had a Lochkoppel for nearly 10 years and it has not budged so at least there's that.
@Nagtloper431
@Nagtloper431 2 часа назад
@@PowermadNavigator That crappy, huh? I admittedly have only seen a video of it, just found it interesting that they stuck to the classic system with belt, suspenders and pouches over a plate carrier with a modular system, although I understand there’s also a version of that. But yeah, better bad gear that works (somehow) than seemingly good gear that doesn’t.

i like that thing a little (as a Baselayer, few Pouches, and a Chestrig), i didnt have to much problems with it personally, but its just a very cheap system, they could have made and issued way better Things to that Time... btw. in 2016/17 i still had that issued... and you can fit both, the M2000 and the M65 into that Gasmask Pouch haha (Good for storage)

The only time we're this thing was ok to wear is, when you had a bunch layers underneath or a body armour vest. But wearing it standalone is just pure cancer. My hips still hate me for it

Seems like an overly complicated carrying system but I did not have any problems with Spanish buckles in the Finnish Army. They are fast to open when you pull the tab to the side like they are meant to be used. Anyway, I wonder what the designers must have been thinking :D
@icorfieldtac
@icorfieldtac 4 часа назад
My problem with them was, that it was sometimes a hassle to close them after mag change, when the puls is going up. And especially on the canteen pouch, if the pouch was older and used that the buckles would open by itself.
@TeurastajaNexus
@TeurastajaNexus 4 часа назад
@@icorfieldtac I agree. The buckle is probably meant to be kept open during combat but I prefer velcro pouches, like the new Savotta-made pouches.

I was in the US Army as an infantryman and as a Paratrooper. By the way I was stationed in your lovely country from 1986-88 in Mainz at Lee Barracks. Well we had the ALICE system LBE, it wasn't terrible but it was very light and I did modify mines by finding extra items especially extra ammo pouches and my parents getting me the nylon butt pack. Our LBEs had to be by our battalion standard with belt, two ammo pouches, suspenders, one canteen pouch, canteen, canteen cup, rolled up poncho, ear plug case on a chain on the suspenders for garrison guard duty and inspection. This was standard US Army bullshit being in garrison in your country and state side, what we call "Dog and Pony Show". Going out to the field for exercises at Grafenwhor, Hoensfeld, Munster, Holland, and Luxembourg, my ALICE LBE I made it comfortable by having 4 ammo pouches, 2 canteens, butt pack, compass with pouch, and a Paratrooper IFAK. My battalion commander and Sergeant Major sometimes would get upset seeing me with my gear but luckily my squad leader would have the same stuff as me because he used to be in the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg and RANGER qualified and a Grenada combat veteran. My squad leader was untouchable because my battalion commander and Sergeant Major are both Vietnam combat veterans and both former Paratroopers. I liked the ALICE LBE which I modified because I could wear it with my T-10 or MC-1 parachute and jump with it when I was in Panama during 1989-90 at my Airborne battalion. I wore my modified ALICE LBE for combat during the Panama Invasion which worked well. I kept mines till this day for hiking without weapons or ammo but for occasional range practice with my AR rifle and M4 carbine out in the desert here in Nevada. When I was in Iraq from 2006-08 all we had was MOLLE gear, all my pouches were attached to my INTERCEPTOR Body Armor with assault pack, ammo, radio, grenades, chem lights, knife, food, and Camel Back etc. In Iraq I had my soldiers carry more ammo, water, batteries for NVGs, radios, IFAK, and food to be ready for a fight for at least 72 hours like a Black Hawk Down scenario. Getting stuck like the Rangers in Somalia is what we prepared for in Iraq. We watched the movie over and over again during deployment training. The ALICE LBE is still very good because the US Army 25th Infantry Jungle School in Hawaii is evaluating a modified version. The chest rigg is good for urban combat going in and out of vehicles or houses, but the ALICE LBE is great for the jungle, forest, and I think any where because at least you can get in the prone position when needed. With a chest rig, I never could get in a prone or laying down position and crawl, going over walls in Iraq sucked with a chest rigg in combat.

I bought it here in my post soviet country mainly because I liked the camo pattern and because it looked cool, man was it trash, what I did to improve it: took off the shoulder straps, put one paracord through the plastic things on the end of each of the 4 straps, put an alice belt through them, to attach the pouches to the belt I cut the original belt into pieces to use these pieces as makeshift adapters, I put another paracord through the adapters and attached them to the same alice belt with shoulder straps, sits somewhat comfortable, idk where to post the pictures

Yes, they made a jacket/smock, with almost a dozen pockets even with a backpack clipped on the back. Was a good idea on paper, but in reality, having an extremly heavy jacket, that fits loosely over your body is just cumbersome and uncomfortable.

I like to collect camouflage and web gear from around the world. This flecktarn pattern from Germany is quite high on my list especially the arid version . But I have decided to purchase other countries gear. It's because there web gear is so horrible and I have never even touched its just obvious. Not sure what there useing now days. Being made in Germany one would expect something much more thought out. More high comand fuckurry ! Looks like suspicion was correct 😢 Thanks for sharing your knowledge on this product.

the German Army issues the MOBAST or similar Platforms, or most often (in Infantry Units) they get their own Gear, like in most other western Armies.
