Truth is, there are some obvious exceptions, but one rarely sees a black guy/ man of color who was not born in America ( or who even a second generation American) get in trouble in the U.S. Similar with Afro-Latinos, East or West Asians, American Indians, etc. Nor African-Americans with similar upbringing as immigrants. Not Ethiopians, Somalians, Jamaica, Dominicans, Dravidians nor Nigerians, simply because they know how to not put themselves in precarious situations and how to deal with authority calmly and non- confrontationally, even when caught in a violation, based on their experiences in their native countries, where parroting "my Constitutional rights" is not going to save you. My relatives, male and female, use the solid commonsense of today's immigrants because it was/ is instilled in the home and school. It helps to stay away from places and situations that imply criminality, to avoid accumulation of legal citations including multiple child support issues and unpaid tickets, and looking neat, well- groomed and appropriately attired. That's whether one's destination is Nairobi or Rome. Definitely in the Middle East!

Been to quite a few countries solo and I have to admit Egypt has the potential to be very aggressive. I went to Egypt as part of my group tour with a boyfriend at the time. Even when I was with him, the Egyptians would joke that they want to smell my money (when we went to the bazaar). I didn’t feel any discrimination but I can agree they are very pushy there. Egypt is a very poor country despite being the mecca of civilization. If I were a solo traveler I would have been annoyed. Also bring your own toilet paper when you go because that country DOES NOT PLAY when it comes to toilet paper. I even had to create a hoarding situation because they were TIGHT with toilet paper.

I live in Casablanca part of the year. My husband is Moroccan. I can 100% attest to Morocco being one of the most racist places I've ever been. I know that I am Black when I am in Morocco. I don't just feel like a person. I am a Black person. They treat me poorly until they find out I am American and then they want to try and knock me down a peg by demanding to know my original African country because they also don't believe that Black people are American. They also do not call theirselves African. They only refer to Black Africans as Africans. It's bizarre. I have been called the "N" word & their version of the "N" word, "3zia"; pronounced Ehzia (for a woman & Ehzi for a man) in an American accent. They do not respect women. Even women who are covered up. I have a friend who is a Niqabi; she talks about getting harassed when she goes outside sometimes. Mind you all you can see is her eyes when she goes outside because of her Niqab. I was coming from the Hammam (bathhouse) and I was wearing a hijab to project my wet hair from the elements and got harassed. It genuinely does not matter what you are wearing. There is just no respect for anyone except their own mothers maybe. I was getting out of a Taxi and a man asked me "Combien" which means "How Much" in French. You can guess what he was asking me. I told him to ask him momma. Don't even get me started on the men in Marrakech. And there is no reasoning with them. They are ignorant. This experience has made me realize that I can not live in a homogeneous country.

This is disheartening as I wanted to visit each of those countries. I have been to Egypt with a group and did not feel that safe. It is frustrating how as a black traveler the world wants to close it's doors to you when all you want to do is experience something new and see places that you may have only seen on TV. Adding more stamps to your passport. It seems like black travelers all go to the same places. Basically Mexico and the Caribbean.

I just got back from Egypt in December. I traveled with a small group but also did alot of my own thing like going to the market etc. I did not like Cairo because it is dominated by young people and yes, I observed some disrespectful patterns. I did not personally feel disrespect, but I noticed it in general even with their own women. I loved Aswan and Luxor. Hoping to return to Aswan next October. I lived in Puebla Mexico for 3.5 years, from 2013 to 2016 and it was a nightmare. Some people were very nice, but there was so much ignorance there because that part of Mexico, they don't see many blacks. Some people would laugh right in my face and would not care that I could see them laughing at me. I felt like a zoo animal. They have this thing there, where if they see a black person, they have to pinch the person they're with and they would do this every day when I would walk places. @Roseland31

The problem with this video is it's based upon other people's experience and there is no mention of how people presented themselves. I say this, because often times Americans show up very ignorant and do not try to learn about the country culture, people, and language. For example, I have seen many Americans while in Egypt, Morocco and other nstions where the population is predominantly Muslim and do not dress modestly. It's offensive to the local people and you will most definitely attract unwanted attention. China is a country that has over a billion people who look the same, so you should expect to stick out. I had a couple who wanted to take a picture with me and a white coworker had the same treatment because he was tall and red headed. I traveled on a sleeper train from Shanghai to Beijing by myself and had a wonderful experience. I traveled back on a bullet train and had an interesting conversation with a local person. I have traveled a lot of places on 5 of the 7 continents with no issue. People need to be mindful of where they are and don't complain when things are not like they are used to at home. Be safe wherever you go and that includes the US. Please include the US in one of your videos, because its one of the worst offenders based upon just being of African descent and pure hatred.

I have been to Italy and have been targeted for being a black American which we know equals rich right. Outside of Rome I felt safe including Venice. Italy’s male dominant culture looks down on single women in general although their rates of marriage is plummeting also. Pickpockets are rampant in Europe so act accordingly. Africans can really be treated poorly as though they are trash. I purchased things from them just because of what I witnessed. Egypt and Morocco do not surprise me as their religious culture forbids single men contact with women and if you don’t dress modestly women can have even more problems with harassment. With all travel, do your research so that you have an idea of what to expect.

Iam a Black man and I have visited China many times over for 30 years, and I seldomly had a Bad experience with locals, Both in the cities and rural areas of the country. Yes they took pictures and they touched my head, it was out of curiosity, because they have never saw a person of color before, not out of hate. I admit it was uncomfortable at first, but when they explained and soon after apologized for their actions, it had been much better. I am greeted more friendly and I had made some friends along the way. For me, it is more of a cultural experience than any other, and at ti times, I traveled alone. just last year I was in Japan with friends and never had a problem with people asking questions. I even lived in Osaka, for five years and made tons of friends. So.....if anything, its a cultural experience and not out of hatred towards blacks.

I think a lot of Westerners, black or not, became whiny and entitled and approach new countries and different cultures with a narrow mindset and even cry because people were curious about them in a positive way. Blacks from various African countries are often not programmed in this way by Western influence and have a much better experience in countries such as China for example. They usually have only positive things to say from what I saw. I think it also has something to do with having better role models in life such as great leaders of African countries like Mandela, or Ibrahim Traoré and Thomas Sankara from Burkina Faso. Those role models teach people to not be a victim and take pride in what you do for your community and country. I feel like minorities in the USA / UK, whether it's American-born Chinese or American-born Blacks, have been stripped of their spirit and dignity completely. You can even see that a lot in this comment section and in the video itself.

I suspect it's all the Chinese artist who created the billboard knew. The artist didn't know anything about American lynchings, forced racial segregation, or the Soweto Uprising. I tried to educate Chinese about black culture whenever I got a chance.

I lived alone in Beijing for 4 years and had an apartment right down the road from the scene at 3:28. Chinese can be rude but it's mostly out of ignorance. It has been isolated from the outside world for generations and people even in the biggest cities believe in the worst stereotypes about not just black travelers but foreigners in general. I was there during the 2008 Olympics and being treated like an animal in a zoo was just the start. In later years, I rode with taxi drivers who would straight up talk to me about how Africans looked like apes and slept in the jungle next to tigers.

Egypt was by far the best country I’ve visited (besides Cambodia)… they love black Americans, I was personally taken to the Nubia Museum and was told this was the real Egyptian History - not the misinformation given to the white travelers 😂. They seriously treated me with the Red Carpet all because I am a black American (go figure 🤷🏾‍♂️)

Thats what alot of these folk dont get. There are levels to this. In alot of places, if you're black american, you have priviledge. I have been to Egypt a couple times and have never felt any kind of anything. For a woman it might be different, when I was there I saw women getting harassed for the way they dressed. All it takes is a little research to know to be conservative when going there. I was stationed at Aviano for a little bit in Italy and also never felt anything threatening. Although Hong Kong is separate from China, I did not feel welcomed there, but others have said they had a great time and no problem, I guess really each situation is unique.

The Caribbean Mexico The UK France Spain Portugal Canada Colombia South Africa Seychelles The Bahamas Switzerland ...I was quite surprised about how friendly and nice swiss people were to me Most countries in western europe Most countries in South America except Argentina Of course most countries in Africa Black hating countries For the most part South Korea Argentina Libya Poland Russia All of Eastern Europe India Italy - This is a hellhole and champion of racism, even worse than India. They suffer from a racism sickness Hong Kong Some countries in central europe my My list are based on countries where blacks have certain privileges and live comfortably vs countries where they are oppressed or have no privilege. Right out of the gate i disagree with number one. There are two “major” Air Force bases in northern Italy. One in Veneto and one in Fruili. I’m in fruili but live approx 30 mins from Veneto and i along with many many black people in the AF have never experienced or heard of anything bad or racist about that region. I’m Honestly shocked Veneto, IT made the list. I’m sure there are more countries that are WORSE. But Veneto is, at least from my and my friends experience, not a anti black place.

I don’t know how Italy could have made this list. I traveled as a solo traveler in Italy. I never had a negative experience. The people were friendly. I also have a friend who studied abroad in Florence, Italy. He was warned upon arrival that he might face some racial discrimination. But all the racial bias he received were from white American tourists and not Italian locals. And when I traveled by myself through Europe and ran into other Italians, they’ve always been the friendliest people I would meet. Yes, Italy has a huge influx of African refugees landing on their shores all the time and I’m sure that brings a number of people being prejudice against black people. But from my experience they can tell the difference between a black American and a black person from Africa. I’m more surprised that the countries that make up the former eastern block in Europe didn’t make the list. There, you’ll find people who because they grew up behind the iron curtain, never came in contact with a person of color. You’ll find even worse racial bias and discrimination towards people of color there.

It the intention is not bad, let them touch your hair if they appear friendly. Truly if some folks did not grow up around black people and they are exposed to negative images of black people, then you the black person should educate then if they are welcoming. If a hair stylist with straight hair has never met a black person, it should be a teaching opportunity. This is also happening in medical education. medical textbooks, skin assessments, etc all use the white skin as the standard. Example signs of low oxygen is bluish skin. But that's if the patient has white skin. Many of the books ignore the fact that a black person, does not have blue skin as a finding for the same sign of low oxygen, etc.
