From what I can tell, Bode's whole reason for betraying them is because he didn't want Cal to bring baggage. The anchorites, refugees, the Hidden Path - whatever you wanna call them. Bode wanted this to be a one way trip, just his family, and Cal's. Not a bunch of people they didn't know or trust along for the ride. I get the reasoning though. Tanalorr's meant to be impossible to find or access. I think Bode was worried that one of these people would show the Empire how to get there, or that Cal would get caught looking for more people to bring there. Then it wouldn't be a secret anymore, and it would be another massacre like Jedha all over again. I think that's why he snitched to the Empire about the base on Jedha in the first place. If everyone's dead, no one's spilling the beans.
