Teslacam Stories is a series of Tesla owners' real experiences told by the Tesla Dashcam and Sentry Mode videos. Im not even going to state the obvious which is that its the overtakers responsibility to do it safely, but like stated on the video I did slow down hard when the situation came, also even when i knew there was a truck behind me, nobody is expecting a truck overtake in such conditions, so I really saw the truck only when it was next to me and acted right away. But as I did everything right and the truck driver did everything wrong, I guess its your wonderful personality that tries to blame me. Good luck in life. 👍

Here in Belgium it's not allowed to overtake a turning car. There is no such thing especially when causing an accident the insurance company will hold you liable for overtaking a signaling and turning car. Also here when we flash our lights it's mean "please go ahead" but on they highway meand fuck off to the other lane 😅

overtaking having right of way over turners is considered by some to be safer because the turner is not currently in the oncoming lane. the thought is that the overtaker needs to be able to get out of oncoming asap. the clip in question tho features someone overtaking way too many vehicles at ones in my opinion

7:15 Almost half a million Americans live in Germany. That's a Ford Excursion with a 7.3 L Powerstroke Diesel by the way. Those were never sold directly as euro-market vehicles. Probably brought by someone at Rammstein AFB.

that is true, but in that case looking at the licence plate its a the car from a german citizen there even cheap to register thanks to tax breaks (also insurance is cheaper) given to "small" Commercial vehicles

not really the first two letters are still custom and they nowadays use "HK" and not "BM" or "SM" as is on that vehicle 🤓 very rarly they still have "AF" for US personal, but indeed the formating is the same

Doesn’t matter anyway, because the video is made somewhere between Cologne and Dusseldorf… No where near Ramstein. But people who own those cares here usually have to compensate for something or are massive car geeks with an unhealthy interest in American made Diesel vehicles. Though everyone needs a hobby… I guess.

Sander V, that's why it's smarter to pass one car at a time. If you move left and you can't immediately pass the one car in front of you, then you need to fall back in behind them and wait for another chance. If you continue forward, trying to pass more than one car, you see what can happen to you.

The second clip you flat out lie. Europe goes by KPH, not MPH. No Tesla would survive a 90mph impact. So the truth is, if it was estimated at 90 kph, it's more like 55 mph. And it doesn't look like that either.

Depends on what area, some actually still go by MPH. I can tell by the speed that it’s going over 55 MPH, the momentum would have ran out long before the Tesla ran through everything.

2:01 This is most likely a volunteer fire department, so every member is alerted via a pager. This means every available firefighter will drive to the firestation and then to the accident site. That's why there are so many firefighters.

5.08 is not Slovakia. This is in Croatia. Demerje near Zagreb. Driver must be blind since arrow clearly indicates which barrier will open. The left one opens for drivers who do not have high way subscription and should not use that lane. Everything is clearly indicated. So this driver made a mistake 👍

2:08 You can clearly see that the BMW had its indicator on. So two possible causes of the crash are : - The BMW driver turned his indicator on way too late so the cars did not know what he was up to until last second - The car behind the BMW did not paid attention and slammed the brakes

You should know that modified diesels "roll coal" anytime the throttle is wide open. While plenty of examples exist of people doing it next to other people to intentionally roll coal on them I also see them rolling coal when no one is anywhere near them and they are just accelerating.

@@ricksmith3045 I took my license about 3 years ago and when we were practicing Passing cars on country roads we were subjected to a situation just like this. it was all a Practice and wasn't real but still. they made it clear that If you were to pass a car make sure you see the road ahead and make sure there's no exits on the stretch you will be passing as cars could be turning off the road. and that you would be at fault if anything were to happen.

why? when turning you need to make sure it's safe to do so which involves checking your mirrors. Driver on the left lane might be overtaking multiple cars, their speed is high and they might not have any room to get back in the right lane so it's much safer if they continue and the turning driver simply waits instead of forcing the overtaking driver to brake hard.

@@Matticitt That is a funny way of looking at it. That must be a country or Europe thing. A car overtaking other vehicles on a two lane road has the burden of safety as they are in a lane that has oncoming traffic and should not do so unless it is safe to do so. That includes watching out for stopped/slowing traffic that is turning left. They are far less likely to see you than you are to see them.

5:00 is Croatia not “Slovakia”! He didn’t have the “ENC” AKA “electronic charge of road” it is fast pass payment and if you are to fast or didn’t have credit you are diverted to go back to the highway where there is tool pay via person few km past fast ENC. There was a traffic light green arrow pointing to the exit.

No I did not and I was not supposed to go left it's only for those that do not have ENC I do have it. That right arrow only distracted me. I was supposed to stop in front of the barrier for the ENC to open it. But I did not see it. Also the barriers are always under the roof, check it on the right side. BTW this was my first and only hit that I had in 20 years of my driving.

What's to keep someone from purposely passing when you are turning to cause an accident? His insurance might claim it's the other guys fault but my guess is the other guys insurance is claiming it's Sander V's fault. Doesn't say that the other guys insurance paid the 10k.

A lot of Semi truck drivers in europe just dont care about the speed limit, they can only go 90kmh, and a lot are put under pressure. And on top of that, some are just stupid and pull of moves like in the first video

And the fact that 99% of normal cars are driving 5km/h slower than the car says it does while semi trucks have to be accurate for the tachgraph to work properly means the cammer thinks he's 1 over asked limit while being 4 below (not an excuse for the trucker but a variable to keep in mind)

@@nietvantoepassing2369 I've just noticed something I didn't see first in the video, the center line is dashed, it's not a solid line, in Italy if you have a solid line you cannot overtake, if the center line is dashed you can, of course if there's no traffic coming in the other direction, don't know if the same rules apply to Belgium, but I'm pretty sure in Italy he wouldn't have been at fault

The incident at 5:00 actually took place in Croatia, approaching Zagreb from the direction of Rijeka/Split. The toll ramp featured is Lučko, to be precise the card/electronic section of it. Jozef was in the electronic (ENC) lane, which is why the gate didn't open for him (assuming that he doesn't have an ENC device). The other (card) lanes are where he should've gone if he didn't have the ENC device. In fact, you can see the green arrow illuminate directing him to the cash section of Lučko (since the ramp was unable to detect an ENC device), instead he crashed into the barrier.

Once in my life I drove possibly slightly impaired. I drove very carefully as there was no traffic and I only lived a couple miles away. Even though I didn't hit anything, I realized how stupid I was. That was my lesson learned and I volunteered to be a designated driver and ride for friends going out to drink. Friends never let friends drive impaired.

4:56 its the automatic toll booth in Zagreb Croatia. You must own a ENC device so the ramp opens. If you dont own one or the scanner didnt read the ENC device properly, you have to use the exit ramp on the left. Btw, the speed limit over there is 40 Km/h wich i don't think the cammer respected really.

3:25 You were overtaking so you were not doing anything wrong. Rules for overtaking no matter the country are to do so safely. Its not a F1 race where you draft the vehicle in front and them pull out at the last second. That is called Tailgating when on the road. Pulling out when the gap is 2seconds or so is starting the overtake safely and when you pass the vehicle in front you pull back in when there is a 2 second gap. You also can not exceed the speed limit to overtake.

The Max accident, where you say that the car that turned off of the road caused the accident is like saying a car coming to a full stop at a stop sign caused a rear end, is patently dumb. The drivers that were following too closely are at fault for… you know following too closely.

1:35 You can clearly see the silver car lean forward almost immediately after Max's camera angle shifts (indicative of when Max started braking). Dude was paying attention and in fact has pretty good reflexes, his car just couldn't stop in time. Wham Baam, you're usually better at reading these situations than this. Edit: 6:27 Slow it waaaaay down and look again. The other car made very solid contact with the side of the Tesla. Edit 2: 9:30 Could also be burning coolant from a failed head gasket.

Passing a truck can be done very slowly. For example, if truck is at 89km/h and you change to second lane with speed at least 92-94km/h (so it can be seen that you are taking over the vehicle) you can stay in the left lane as much as you want. And you HAVE to change to passing lane before following distance (behind truck) is at least 2-3 seconds, though 5-7 is also ok.

2:03 wdym he was clearly indicating in the clip! Also so stupid that you say he wasnt blamed for some reason, because either way the cars behind him should still SLOW DOWN. Bad commentary on this one. Almost sounds like youre saying that the BMW wasnt allowed to turn so that he could reach his destination.

9:17 It's a DAF Truck ( European truck brand ) it's a function on this truck that cleans automatically the particle filter ( obligatory on European trucks). It is for ecology ..... but it's just as polluting but hey :) This is why the smoke is white. the exhaust at this time reaches a temperature of +500°C (900°F)

For the Sander V clip, it makes no sense that an overtaking vehicle has the right of way over anybody except oncoming traffic. The POV driver made an unnecessary maneuver and if he hadn't there would not have been an accident. SHouldve been completely POV driver's fault
