Honestly, I think the idea of a focus tree that allows you to give up to the agressor, only to be prepared to betray them later, is very good. It's my favourite part about Death or dishonor focuses.
I like the idea too, but you have to force yourself into a civil war for that to happen. It’s not like the Polish or Ethiopian trees nowadays. It was even worse when the DLC first came out and you didn’t have all of the nice decisions we have now.
Collaborationist paths are always difficult to justify, because they require you to submit to the whims of an incompetent and overburdened AI for no real gains. For Czechoslovakia, there could've been two Fascist paths: A Pro-German one, and a Pan-Slavic one, the former can be left as is, in my opinion. The latter could be interesting, if you've ever heard of Radola Gajda. Basically, in this one you quickly eat up Poland via a coup, an ultimatum, or an invasion and form a West-Slavic Union, getting cores and so on. Then, you strike Southwards against Hungary, potentially aligning Romania in the process. All of this should be completed by 1938, by which point your attention should be diverted to Germany, assuming they're still Nazis. At this point, if you're not strong enough to defend yourself from Germany alone, a new option should be open to you to placate Italy for protection and perhaps convince them to switch sides, if they're in the Axis (very original, I know). Anyway, once Germany is crushed, you can move on and continue expanding with a demand for Yugoslavia's submission to connect up your territory and secure cores on South Slavs, which is also a nice way to move onto Bulgaria. And then finally, comes the point when you can turn your guns East and strike the USSR, you can probably guess what happens next. Cores on Eastern Slavs and a greater Pan-Slavic Union centred in Prague. Throwing ideas around is fun, isn't it? Shame Paradox will probably never even consider going back and retroactively fixing a few old focus trees for some countries. Anyway, that's all, and Merry Christmas.
Yep, with real czechoslovakian fascist leader Radola Gajda and not fucking stupid Jaroslav Krejčí who was only a prime minister of German puppet protektorat Böhmen und Mähren goverment and not fascist at all. That is actually one of the worst bullshit Paradox did in this game and didnt correct it yet... even when many czech players pointed it out to them.
I should probably publish my Yugoslavia mod to the workshop. It doesn't alter the focus tree, but it adds two new formable nations to Yugoslavia, that being the National Balkan State, and then later the National Roman State. The NBS has to own Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, and Turkey, and you get cores on *all of them*. The NRS requires you to own the Italian peninsula, and you get cores on all of Italy, and *all* states that are on the coast of the Mediterranean. It also requires you to already be the National Balkan State. Yes, this was inspired from Red Flood.
Something that could be cool is that to click the decision, you only have to own a majority of the states, instead of all of them This is a major problem for formable nation decisions and I bet it would be really cool
I actually had a really good time when I did fascist Australia. It was slow, true, since I had to naval invade my way through various islands to get to India and Africa, but I ended up getting a ton of territory, and built up a very respectable navy that ended up butchering the British somehow. I do find it strange you didn't get Indonesia as a puppet, though, cause I know that happened for me
How about (if you have not done it already) "Best (and worst) countries with default focus trees" Very nice video once again, thank you Mountain General
MG kinda made a mistake by becoming free too soon. If you remain a puppet a little while longer you can ask the Brits to hand you Malaya as a puppet. But the Aussie focus tree is still kinda terrible, although arguably the Commie path is far worse since you really get NOTHING in that one.
I play an ungodly amount of Australia (started as a home country then turned into my favourite zero to hero country) fascist is interesting because you get two of the most resource rich countries as puppets for basically free and stay in the allies but have all the bonuses of being a fascist country Commie Is fun because you solve Australia's manpower problem & get up to 5 volunteer divs as a minor with infantry genius. rush spy agency start civil war in Netherlands, win civil war, Dutch East Indies breaks free, get 2x colab government, declare war bypassing the war bottle neck in focus tree. If done correctly should be done by early 39. Easily get 3.5mill manpower plus 2.0 year ahead focuses for subs, destroyers, cruisers & light frame planes. 👌
Assuming Paradox won't change Czech focus tree in the near future, I think the only reason u wanna try Czech fascist path is to achieve Czechmate achievement, which requires u to be in Axis and controls Canberra (or Sydney? I forgot)
Czechoslovakia tree feels like Paradox didnt even bothered to look at wikipedia. You could argue that it will be eaten by Germany anyway but then I question why Ethiopia got better tree.
It's an old one they weren't really sure of how far they wanted to go they have a much better idea of it now shame that they're never gonna do anything with it again
If your keeping on the trend of best/worst paths for ideologies in vanilla, Monarchist Greece is probably one of my least favorite paths, its just playing Metaxis except you don't get any of the massive buffs from his tree, and you fight a civil war. The actual monarchist stuff requires Germany to have done the Kaiserreich which means you need to play non historical for unique content.
honestly, when i first saw the "deliver sudetenland" and "german puppet" focuses for czechoslovakia i thought it was a thing like giving the sudetenland to germany to puppet them, tbh that would be wayyy better
Once upon a time you got a crazy national spirit for becoming a german puppet as Czechoslovakia. It increased production of tanks or something like that. It was patched out because people were exploiting it in MP to give Germany mega tank armies made by Czechoslovak fingers. Although, I'm not sure if I just dreamed it all up because I can't find any reference to it anymore. :S
You turned back to the Czechoslovak Union because when you got into that civil war you turned to the Czech people's Republic. After that you reunified the A-H. And then the game saw you had Slovakia again so it renamed you to The Czechoslovak Union. I know this is a dumb explanation but in the stupid world of HOI4 internal bs this actually works.
I think you should make a video about how bad together for victory focus trees are. Paradox made a few change on this trees but still refusing removing stupid limitiations like earth tension and conscription law-focus complete combination
I swear that going fascist Australia and helping Indonesia with it's civil war got you an event which they become your puppet because I remember it happened to me.
The Czech tree would make more sense if going a puppet was the only way to go Fascist and stop Germany from going after you, but its not the Czech's do have a normal fascist path and from there can join the Axis. What was paradox smoking coming up with that path?
The weird thing about the Australian fascist focus tree path is, in theory, once the Indonesian civil war is over and the fascists have won, there is an event for them to submit to you and become your puppet. That event doesn't always happen, I assume the fascist Indonesian AI get an event and a choice for it and sometimes they pick no, but if it were a guarantee to happen (or if the AI were programmed to always pick yes), that alone makes you incredibly powerful for a middle power and almost makes the tree good. Also, there is no reason now to do the focus that trades parts of Indonesia for an alliance with Japan, since historical Japan always makes their faction before you can break free, and if you're fascist, they'll usually let you join in no hassle. If I remember correctly if you do the focus before they have a faction, you 2 create a faction with you as the leader, which is good I guess?
How about trying the worst naval focus trees? There are a bunch of countries with useless naval focus trees just attached onto the main focus tree like France. But finding the worst of them might be hard, because no one ever did them.
The civil war is a historical thing, bcs Yugoslavia really signed the Tripartite pact on March 25th 1941. Two days later, a coup supported by the british deposed prince Pavle and revoked the signature of the pact. In the game, when you complete the Tripartite pact focus, UK gets notified of it and they send an ultimatum after a while. Btw you can avoid the civil war if you just hold a referendum to turn fascist (before doing the focus of signing the pact). That way Milan Stojadinović becomes the leader and you can freely join Axis while still getting the stability from king Peter.
You can also avoid the civil war if you to the German Military Mission focus, because the national spirit Anti-German Sentiment is what is being checked for the coup to launch. Not sure about the UK getting notified, i think that is the event chain if you don't have DoD, where if Yugoslavia gives military access to Germany, or is allied to them, if UK has completed the Balkan Strategy focus, they can orchestrate a coup.
Australia: "i will make your free!" Indonesia: "for real?" Australia: "yeah, just give me access to all of your resource and manpower" Indonesia: "wait, I've seen this!"
Dmowski Fascist Route in Poland is also bad and thing that hurts is that dmowski was the most anti-german politic in Poland (they made him german pupet)
Czechoslovakia should get a new improved National Focus Tree just like Poland in the No Step Back DLC. Most of the Czechoslovak fascists, led by General Gajda, were anti-german and their ideology was almost identical to Italian fascism. How I would imagine a fascist Czechoslovakia: In the National Focus Tree, I would start with propaganda against social democrats and mainly communists - this will increase the popularity of NOF. The second step would be to appease the Sudeten Germans, thanks to which the percentage of the recruited population would increase. The third step would be to reconcile the Slovaks and start cooperating with Slovak clerical-fascists - this will again increase the popularity of the NOF. The last step would be a coup but without a civil war. Subsequently, I would invest in Catholic propaganda just like Falangist Poland - this would begin to increase Stability and War support. Then I would conclude an alliance with Italy (Anti-Nazi Pact) and guarantee the independence of Austria - it will not be annexed by Germany and Germany will declare war on Austria. A civil war will break out in Germany (just like if you oppose Hitler at the start of the game as German Reich instead of remilitarizing the Rhineland). Austria and German Military Junta join the Anti-Nazi Pact. After the defeat of the German Reich, German Military Junta will focus in the National Focus Tree on the restoration of Kaiser and the fight against communism. I would then convince both Italy and Germany in the National Focus Tree not to go to war with the Allies until the Soviet Union is defeated. Finally, I would rename the Anti-Nazi Pact to Anti-Comintern Pact. I would invite Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Greece and Turkey to join this faction. At the same time, I would guarantee Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Finland. After the defeat of the Soviet Union, I would restore Tsarist Russia with its own clerical-fascist National Focus Tree as a puppet. At the same time I would annex Kamchatka, which would open the Achievement Masaryk's Dream. North Sakhalin would be given to the Japanese Empire.
fascist peru into democratic gran colombia, invade cuba for chromium and make the best subs in the game, oil in venezuela for fuel, shut down the chinese coast and the med
This would even be more cursed if you made a cocktail of Rakjia and Tito' Handmade Vodka. Fun fact: Fascist Indonesia with Military youth/extensive conscription get 13 million manpower. Any factories you spawn while a puppet however are permanently given to the Dutch. Do with that knowledge what you will. Idea: 5th Portuguese Empire-- 47% non-core manpower on territory. Easiest is China. Fascist Portugal: Estada Novo/New Industry = +30% construction speed. Communist Portugal: Nationalized Industry/Textiles = +15 or 19 factories Communist New Zealand: The only thing you are good for is sending Stalin Weapon 4's Communist Paraguay: Liberate Workforce all of South America and cry as Ideological Loyalty +500 manpower a month is consumed by your -20,000 a week occupation demands.
Yugoslavia and the tripartite pact is awful, there is no way to circumvent the civil war and the uk isn't even involved in objecting. All in all they punish you for going fascist which is ludicrous.
I’m always confused by the logic of paradox in regards to Australian flags, sure the Eurika flag works fine for the fascists, but also for republicans, and a kingdom. It’s literally the flag that was used by rebels which included aussie horns, brits, Americans, blacks, asians, and swore for freedom under the southern cross. It has since been used by workers unions, along with many other forms of unions and groups particularly in the lower and middle class population, with an incredibly small minority of radicals included. The conclusion is that the flag is viable for literally any Australian faction that has a degree of nationalism, and holds some degree of value in or based off of Christianity (tied to the cross which is on the flag). So basically any fully independent or even commonwealth Australian state that isn’t communist could realistically take on that flag. My compliant is that paradox is giving the flag a bad image in the international community by making it the “fascist flag”, which is a shame because it’s a really neat flag with strong importance in Australian history.
Honestly I am here not for the hoi4 even as a player I come for your amazing god tier voice so if you EVER do another channel do some kinda narrating or explaining.(do creepypasta lol) because your voice is Angelica to me and I'd love to see you use it. ❤️
I still like how Czechoslovakia goes from appeasing Germany to giving up land to Germany and then becoming a puppet it’s kinda like they just give up the second they’re fascist
The czechoslovakia fascist path is not bad. Before Sudetenland, you can turn fascist, join axis, declare war on Hungary and call in Germany. Once they demand Sudetenland and kick you from faction, they cannot attack you and will accept you back in axis. You can even get away with snatching Austria from Germans if you’re fast. Rest is up to you.
You can become communist as Yugoslavia even if you do western focus side (which has stronger buffs imo). The western focus has -5% consumer goods, 10% efficiency cap and 5% efficiency growth, limited self government (which can spawn factories and 10+ more militia units), the opportunity to core Bulgaria and Transylvania, and some more stability. The communist side has like temporary consumer goods buff, bonus to defence, bonus to core territory combat, construction speed - 10%, and the chance to flip neighbors to communist. Which side do you prefer?
Paradox: sorry we can’t give Germany a communist tree despite the KPD being the biggest opposition to the NSDAP Also paradox: 3 Czech fascist trees? HELL YEAH
@Mountain General. I really like the greek music you are playing in your videos. What is it? And stop beeing sick, what is wrong with you xD A wonderful christmas for you and your beloved
