2020 imo was not the year with a lot of really bad games, it was the year where nearly every game was meh, sure we had some exceptions but not that many, same with the good games, hardly any really good games but loads of like 6 or 7/10 meh games, what a mediocre year this has been, such a disappointment. Oh and can I also add it's been a year of woke Politically correct nonsense ruining immersion in our games as well.
Dragon Ball Kakarot, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Ghost of Tsushima, and SpongeBob SquarePants Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated were my highlights of the gaming year. Edit - no mention of PS5 games because obviously I couldn’t get one thanks to the scum scalpers. Would likely have added Spider-Man Miles Morales (from what I’ve heard it’s overpriced though) and Astro’s Playroom to the list at least.
@@darthraider450 Mafia Definitive Edition for me. Disappointed with the Mafia 2 “remake” because absolutely nothing has been touched. I guess that’s a good thing, they never got a chance to ruin such a great game.
When a game you've been waiting for turns out to be (in Macks words) "Rhinoceros Diarrhea", the silver lining is looking forward to Mack tearing it a new hole. Love ya mate!
Just wanna say thanks for all the years of entertainment, honesty and integrity Mack. You continuously make me laugh while simultaneously facepalm at the state of affairs of the gaming world. Just hope you're having good holidays and that you're taking care of your health. Keep on trucking mate, I'll be here for all the great content you're producing.
Lost my stable £32k job 2 days before christmas and have honestly been struggling mentally massively. Mack, your videos have helped me massively get through this horseshit 2020 has thrown at me. Thank you so much. ❤️
The Buzz Aldrin quest made me spit out my cereal with laughter, thanks now I need a new keyboard lol. Also the Project Cars team made it, holy cr@p....
Glad that you’ve decided to include one of my favorite soundtracks, “it’s a console game”, MCMack at its finest, rising star of modern hip-hop! Wishing you all a great year ahead
Console gaming peasant here (proper peasant, base PS4 and Xbox One) but I do like the song. My personal fave is “Big F’kin Gun”. Edit: may get a PS5 once the scalpers have left some for the rest of us.
I really don’t mind about whether you’re “consolero” or like me, “PC-die hard”.. it’s more about how he’s been catching us off-guard with these snippets out of the blue.. been a subscriber almost ever since and he’s still staying real. Mack, if you read this: shut the fk up you bell-end, and continue to get us to smile. May our joy reach you the other way around :)
Please tell me Cyberpunk is worst of the year. It should be worst of the decade if we’re being honest. 8 years of hype that ended up being a huge, bug-ridden failure that has been pulled from various digital stores. That’d be my worst of the year!
eehhh I dno, the graphics and soundtrack are sooooo good and the dialogue and some of the side missions especially the delemaine one I thought were absolutely excellent, consoles? for sure worst game but on pc ive played way worse than cyberpunk, although I do have a 3080 and 10900k, I know it runs pretty shit on anything other than 3000 series cards
Glad you're not listening to the "they'll fix it later" crowd. A game doesn't deserve a pass just because they'll fix it later. They didn't release the games in "early access" or a "beta". They pretended that the games were finished products, so that's what we should be treating them as. WC 3 reforge, along with cyberpunk, did not warn people prior to release WHAT SO EVER of what you were getting. The reforge store page, even AFTER RELEASE, still had false promises on it. It took a month of backlashes, refunds, and threats of lawsuits, for them to finally go update the store page. This is how little a shit Blizzard gives in today's world. They also massively screwed up WC classic; but no one is going to list a MMO. With Cyberpunk. it's so bad CDPR is actually being sued now good. It's about time a developer face some actual consequences for dumping a broken product onto the market.
i agree i hate the crowd who always says its just normal that games come out buggy,. fuck no not even for open world games is it acceptable dont u think with all our new fancy software coming out every year we could figure out a way to streamline making sure open world games werent laughably buggy af when they release? im tired of the excuses i know they can make it mostly bug free but they dont want to cause they ALWAYS put devs on crunch to make a game. devs never get given enough time.
Almost every major game at this point has some pretentious woke crap in it, doesnt mean it ruins these games, but once you encounter that crap, it definetly leaves a bad after taste.
Cant believe they actually made man eater, "Lets make a game where you swim around as a shark, that would never get old!" Sounded cool but than I imagined the gameplay and immediately got bored of the game before it even can out.
blizzard sucks, but you are wrong about the "phones" part. mobile gaming is on the rise, league of legends is better on mobile than on pc, i dont need to sit in a room infront of my pc anymore. diablo on pc is dumbed down anyways due to no trading, so you can aswell play it on mobile. path of exile is coming to mobile. mobile esports are growing. i have a gaming pc and a console, but i only play on mobile. what does pc have to offer ? singleplayer games ? meh..boring. graphics ? who cares. shooters ? same thing since the 90's.
Mack, please consider adding a woke score to game reviews, like 1 - 10 on how woke. It can be completely separate from the actual game score. I think things have become so bad that this is now needed. It's really sad that it's come to this, but that's the reality, and we all know that there's barely anyone else who would have to balls to do this.
2020 has been a decent game year imo. But as long as we have AC, FIFA and COD, and as long as we have people who buy these games, gaming in general won’t improve dramatically while the copy & paste games are the ones making the most money
Triple A and live service games that sell bundles of pre-orders are bound to be here. Because they sell the pre-orders broken and then have to fix later. Ahh, I remember my old Atari ST games. No chances to patch, had to be right straight from the box.
"the big problem with (CP2077) is the bugs" Yep, there are so much bugs it prevents us from observing how it is the dumbest and hollowest RPG of the year. Up to the point CDPR now says it's an action adventure game.
Tbf Mack is not the developers fault that Cyberpunk was the way it was, apperantly the Managment was really pushing for its realese, All the cut content tells me the developers weren't finished :(
I absolutely love you and your humour I don't know if anyone has ever said this before but you sound exactly the same as chubby brown, your amazing keep up the hard work
The Last of Us Part II, by a country mile. Edit - and before anyone comes at me with “wahhh xbot, wahhh bandwagoner” etc, I’m a self confessed die hard Sony fanboy (and also someone who hates modern Nintendo since the Zelda BotW mass nostalgia goggled mainstream gaming media “urinalist” cocksucking). Edit - nice to see my comments being shadow blocked, thanks YewToob!
I love ya, Mack but I also love Cyberpunk. 90% of the side missions are supremely fun to do. Night City is breathtaking. Weapons and stealth and hacking become more entertaining as you get higher in level (most games do the opposite where it gets boring as you progress higher). Great music. Character customization is excellent. Story is actually comprehensible. Maybe I love Cyberpunk because I'm an asocial prick who loves ignoring people in real life and happy that they also ignore me. It's like a match made in heaven. I hear a lot of people complain that Cyberpunk NPCs are too dead and there's socializing has no substance. But I love all of this. This is why I can overlook the bugs. There have been very few bugs for me and most are already getting patched out anyway. To top it all off, game still has DLC coming and the prospect of modding. I'm sorry to those who are having a bad time with Cyberpunk but I haven't had this much fun exploring an open world since Morrowind. This has been a long ass time coming, I was starting to lose hope in ever feeling like a naive kid fully immersed in a video game ever again.
I got Cyberpunk AFTER you reviewed it and stated "the core of the game is good" because I was VERY sceptical at first. I (obviously) play it on a PC, not an amazing one but a decent but older gaming PC. So far I've put 150 hours into it and I've had no actual issues apart from one single game breaking bug where I had to reload a save from 2 mins earlier to solve. I've had a few graphical issues and silly bugs but not on a scale that would annoy me or make me rage. To me, so far, this is the best game of recent times.
@@jonhill4070 did ONI came out this year, I forgot? I have over 1000hrs on factorio and oni, however I don't find the appeal of rimworld, it doesn't click with me I guess
Honestly, glad Cyberpunk ended up being a disappointment because it exposed CDPR to be just like any other shitty developer or games company out there.
I think the most ridiculous part of Cyberpunk 2077 is it wasn't released on last-gen only (ps4 and xbox one) and then they could've milked the re-releases skyrim style for the next 10 years.
Cyberpunk is "mostly positive" on Steam. Let that sink in. Dysfunctional driving AI, dumb as a brick enemy AI, cops just spawn and despawn behind you, npcs cower in plain sight and won't move, no routines, no basic RPG elements, horrendous looting and crafting. And yet. "It's fine for me". How? What other games did you play?
Cheers for the entertainment and the efforts in putting this together. I agree that there has been little of worth to play this year , i have really struggled to find a FPS game to love, I played far too much COD and i dont really like some of the mechanic in the game thats how bad 2020 is. If they removed UAV, heatbeat monitors and load out drops in Warzone it would be better in my opinion. Dice has let us town with the last couple battle fields to be honest, and ROE broke their game with that last map. At least i have managed to catchup a little with my assassins creed backlog as their (effectively single player excellent story mode games) always go on sale when new titles are released
"Stop pre-ordering games." You said it Mack. Huge problem here. When you pre-order a game guys, you are essentially saying, "Here you go developers. Take my money for a product I haven't played yet and have only seen cinematic cutscenes!"
As someone who still goes back to play PS2 games in 2020. That Fast & Furious game doesn't seem so bad. But it reminds me of how "far" we've come in terms of game design in general. I feel like the PS4/Xbone generation has just been an open world/live service orgy. (Indie games excluded) But there is a reason why we haven't moved on. The children who were born when the OG Modern Warfare came out are now 13 years old. They'll accept anything. And I'm not gonna point the gun at them. Publishers and developers knows they can get away with old formulars because the mainstream do not ask for much. There's always a new generation of gamers taking over to provide revenue. And they just need their Ubisoft/Sony open world singleplayer game or Activision/EA multiplayer game. EVEN then these publishers still have the power to innovate, but they don't. As a business why would you? Gaming is no longer a hobby with creative ideas. It's a calculated machine.. And sadly we're keeping it going without asking much from it.
Merry Christmas and happy New Year Mac. Hopefully we get some actual good games in 2021... but I wouldn't hold my breath. P.s. I bought 2 games all last year and one of them is 3 years old because you have to wait that long to get a complete game at a fair price now.
I put a couple hundred hours into Monster Train. Mostly been replaying older games this year. Lot of great titles being worked on but I will only try a game in early access if it's just putting the polish on a game. If only one stage and half the characters are built that's a hard no.
The only game that came out in March of this year I still play is 'DOOM Eternal' ... well PRODEUS too but it is still an early access. Cyberpunk 2077 will most likely become a decent openworld game in a year or two🤣
OMFG - Mack... You should be a stand-up comic... Imagine you at a PAX or something, letting folks know how you feeling... DONKEY PISSS!!!!! :-P Thanks for the amazing vids Mack!
CD PR was the only company I WAS willing to pre order from. Now, there is not a single video game company I trust with my money. I'm not hte only customer approaching this mentality. That is almost a crazy statement to make under a normal market's circumstances. It is an unsustainable market practice.
Some absolutely ripper quotes from Mack in this video. Had me laughing start to finish, which is at least some consolation for the dumpster fire that has been 2020.
The biggest problem with cyberpunk isn't the bugs, the biggest problem is the linear story that was made to revolve around johnny silverhand in the last two years of development. No amount of bugfixes is going to make cyberpunk a great game.
When a game is classed worse than Ride To Hell Retribution you know something is wrong. I couldn't even complete RTH because the 2nd mission had me constantly falling through the ground.
The sad thing with CP2077 is that in order to fix the “bugs” they keep dialing back features, to the point now, where it looked better when it was first released. I guess it will just be ray traced eventually.
Such a great vid mack as always, hope you had a good Christmas and not in tier 4 like we were which sucked. Also ive lost count how many times you said this in you reviews 'STOP PREORDERING GAMES PEOPLE'!!!!
