The Dave and busters game James remembers is Galaxian3 Theater. There is another game for that setup called Air Raid. The screen is two projectors that need to be at an accurate angle to align.
Numbering your episodes is a MUST James! Its simple but extremely effective. I might want to go binge watch them all in order! Cant do that without a numbering system :(
Thats funny im about halfway through the video an i just realised James foot was bent pretty wide and i was thinking "How is that physically possible?" And "He cant be comfortable!". Looks like im not the only one to notice this oddity
I'll tell you my gaming nightmare. It happened when I was around 11-12. I was playing The Legend of Zelda (NES), and had gotten further into the game than I ever had. I honestly cannot remember if it was the fifth or sixth dungeon, but what I do remember was that it occurred when I went into that grey brick room that houses the dungeon item. I pick it up, the famous "Got Item" sound effect plays, and then the game freezes, and oddly enough, sustains the final note of that sound effect. After taking a few seconds to swear at the television, I reset my NES, and my save file was gone. I haven't attempted to complete the game since.
When I was young my parents had a camper at a campground nearby. It had a building where they had a couple vending machines, couches, and two or three arcade machines. I remembered playing one but forgot what it was. More recently I got the SNK anniversary collection on Steam and learned that game was P.O.W.
It's been 20 years but I'm still a little sore over losing a Diablo II save file with my highest level character. I forgot to back up the save file to a disk and when I moved to a new PC, everything on the old computer was erased. That's probably why I skipped the Lord Of Destruction expansion for Diablo II.
I remember the winslows sometimes things like that would be said and I’d look over in the corner behind the front door at the family rifle living in Tennessee and thinking about how odd what they said was. As A kid I just thought the writers lived in their own odd world. It portrayed them in a oddly bad light just seemed out of place.
11:10 Worst Gaming Nightmares. My worst had to do with a game on a cartridge and like James, it crashed. When I turned the game back on, the save data was gone. The game was on the N64 and I think this happened to a few of my games, like Zelda, Diddy Kong, and WWF No Mercy.
Sierra Nevada, and A Ship Full of IPA are really great. When it comes to regular beer the Czechs know how it's done - so you can't go wrong with Staropramen, or Pilsner Urquell.
For some reason, I knew James was going to mention a German beer. I guess it's coincidence that Hofbräu is my favorite as well. Even got the pronunciation down!
In theatre, I saw (in the 80’s) ET, Transformers The Movie, and Carebears. Movie are impossible to edit at last minute so the release had to be final. Games, etc, can be delayed because of their flexibility of alterations, and of course, patches, patches, patches.
Purple Erkle doesn't actually have anything to do Steve Urkle or Jaleel White. Purple Erkle came from Humbolt CA in the early 2000s and was prolific across CA. Yes, It was essentially just Mendo Purp, but it was grown in Humboldt by one specific grower and his family. If it's not grown by them then its just Mendo Purp. Since Jaleel White is calling it Purple Urkle (not Erkle) its definitely just a knock off.
James losing a Final Fantasy end-game save and Justin having to Iron Man games because his household didn't believe in memory cards.... I've often asked "Who hurt you?" about the AVGN/Cinemassacre crew, especially James, but now I know. NOW I KNOW. Much respect folks. You've parleyed your respective traumas into careers people envy.
I have a GameCube and it doesn't play Twilight Princess until after I turn the power on and off multiple times. Then it works perfectly until I shut everything off. It can't be a problem with the disc; it only has a mild scratch or two. So, I want to get a new GameCube, but they're too much for my savings
I remember that rail shooting game that James is referring to. I played it at Dave n Busters in Philly at a birthday party in the early 2000's. Each person controlled a laser gun on a spaceship, in a dark room where you faced a screen of your guns vantage point and worked as a team. And just like James I've always wondered what it was called, lol.
I remember that arcade game James is talking about, it was $5 per person to play and it sat 8 people (I believe). It showed up at Metrocenter's downstairs arcade around early 1990s. My memory is very hazy on it because I only did it once, but I think everyone had a shared health pool and the game was only mildly interactive with your light guns, I remember having to shoot the doors open while you're flying through the ship or you would hit it and take damage, the difficulty was cranked up really high because my group died fast.
In FF3/6 there is a glitch with the girl that can draw sketches that randomly triggers and will just bust your entire game and saves files, but you won't know it until randomly later on while you're playing. It still does it in the SNES mini versions too I believe...
Tekken 3. Played it every day, practicing and improving. Came back from beach one day, had some smudges on disc, cleaned it with my towel... That had sand on it. Rip
I remember playing Resident Evil Survivor on PS1 and it didn't have save points. My aunt walked in and as a joke flipped the power button off and I lost all of my progress.
Loved the Philly art school and video editing talk. A pretty obscure topic, but that's why I loved it. More Philly talk please. Haha, my favorite city. 👍
One game I couldn't figure out was Taco Bell's Jumping Bean Jamboree. Ironically it wasn't until maybe 2018 or so that I finally found the name, no one cared to upload much about it (that I could find) regarding the game. It didn't help that I couldn't remember the title lol. There's still one more game, I believe I played it in 93 or 94 on an Apple II, it was Peter Rabbit but had terrific graphics and I remember being freaked out by the level where you had to escape the farmer. I don't remember anything besides that, and from my understanding there were a lot of small developers for systems like that, it could have been regional (I lived in PA, could've been elsewhere in the northeast). No luck finding it online though.
The Hofbräu Sommerzwikl Natürb is absolutely incredible. Had it a few times at Wechsler's Currywurst (sadly closed a few years back,) in New York. If you can find the beer, grab some. You won't be sorry.
I'm not a huge fan of IPAs. My favorite is Dogfish Head 120-Minute but I don't go out of my way to drink it. Not really into Lagers or Stouts either. I'm into Ales, Wheats, Sours, Shandies, and fruity beers.
The thing that happened to James happened to me with Chrono Trigger and Fable. I got near the end and my game would freeze, I turned of the SNES/XBOX and my savefiles were gone.
Dude, No Fkn way! I have nearly the exact same gaming nightmare as James. I got so invested in FF3 and then one day the game crashed, my save files gone and I have never played it since.
James, what metal bands do you like that have harsh/distorted vocals? Secondly, would you consider doing videos about heavy metal music on Cinnassacre; for example, an album review? Thank you in advance.
SO far, I feel like your movie reviews was way more entertaining. There are still TONS of nostalgic movies I remember watching with my brothers, school buddies, and cousins from the late 70's, 80's and early 90's...SWAMP THING, BARBARIAN BROS, MEGAFORCE, the list goes on and on....
IPA's are my favorites, and Amber Ale's. Some are really bitter, and sometimes I'm in the mood for that, but some are also REALLY smooth and those are also really nice too. I like the smooth ones in summer and the bitter ones in fall. I hate any of those fruit infused beers and I can't stand those really dark thick beers, they fill me up and make me feel bloated very quickly, also not a fan of the taste.
1:50 Not sure if you will able to find a copy with subtitles in it since it's a pretty old film but for Mexico, I would suggest El Libro de Piedra (The Book of Stone). There isn't really a monster in it but it's more psychological horror (in a sense).
