In case you were wondering… Nick Burchill was granted his pardon after the managers of the hotel reviewed his letter. He is again welcome to stay at the hotel
From the angle of the camera when was speaking before the audience, I was amazed how much his side profile resembled that of actor Benedict Cumberbatch.
Glad you enjoyed. This is the second video in our new series British Columbia Stories. I'm always on the lookout for interesting stories from our Province
Fun fun fun! That hotel looked epic! Love a good lifetime ban story! You had me hooked from the start. What a hilarious story. I understand wanting to travel with dried meat 🥩. 40 seagulls! What a day! Power, poop and idiotic behavior. My kind of story! Did they let him back?
I thought it was a fun story! The hotel is beautiful and an icon of Victoria, BC. I have always wanted to go to High Tea when I've been in Victoria, but don't want to go alone (when we've been there Ron was usually working)
That was brilliant! I loved it. I'm happy that the wrapped-up seagull was unharmed... This reminds me of when I was on vacation in Bulgaria and was awoken by a tapping on the balcony door in the morning...by a huuge seagull that couldn't get off the balcony. I did not try the towel trick on that one. (The reason I thought about it was that I was a bit freaked out over one big seagull...compared to 40.)
I just saw a news story on this incident tonight on Chek TV out of Victoria. The banned guest was speaking to a large audience retelling the story. I was thinking that it was Benedict Cumberbatch speaking and shocked to hear later that it wasn't. Apparently, after his public performance of the unfortunate event, after 18 years of being banned from the hotel, he was finally granted permission to stay there again. Just thought I'd share this update. Greetings to all from NW in the GVRD.
