Worst Indian Restaurant in Brick Lane with The MacMaster
Always good to enjoy some Indian cuisine especially after a cold beer or two.
Brick Lane are famous for their selection of Indian / Bangladesh restaurants and food culture.
Unfortunately when myself and The MacMaster visited Brick Lane we did not get the experience we had hoped for. Disappointing to say the least.
A lesson learned and upon leaving we were very well informed by the cab driver of 2 very popular Indian restaurants in the area:

Enjoyed the vlog Darren, must have been cold in there, neither of you took you coats off during the whole meal. Pity about the comments on the food that Lee gave inside, compared to what he said outside. At least you said inside that it was only alright, and your face actually said a lot more. Don't know if it's still open but try the Nazrule, Brick Lane. Used to go there as a student, circa 1980. Really authentic. Was a shithole back then with a really dodgy jukebox that usually didn't work, but great affordable food to prove appearances often deceptive. They also used proper cock chickens in their curries back then.

If you want a really bad one try the Panahar Tandoori in Esher Surrey. ( it's where all the footballer live) We orderd a take away via just eat. Still haven't got our money back. What wasn't waterd down swiming in water rather than sauce was swiming in fat. The chicken dishes had rock hard chicken in them. Couldn't eat anything.

It appears to me that you lads went from one toilet to another, the latter of which I shall be avoiding like the plague, disgraceful bill for such mediocre fare, for sixty quid I would not expect food to be presented in the school dinner fashion it indeed was, nor be ‘charmed’ with the lifeless, robotic application of humourless waiters. Bravo for coming through this unappetising experience relatively unscathed! 👍

Some of the curry houses in Brick Lane are tourist traps go to Tayabs in Fieldgate street it’s behind the bell foundry it’s worth it although a bit pricey.

Many moons ago I met up with a girlfriend and we went to London to hang out (I lived in Oxfordshire and the date lived in Essex and we both liked curry) so had a curry in a Brick Lane restaurant. The curry was bad, very bad, so bad that it almost turned out be be like a nasty scene out of The Exorcist. I'm very happy that I didn't end up in hospital and I got the rotten food out PDQ. Brick Lane is terrible. Food poisoning is a nasty thing.

@@DarrenJohn It put me off Brick Lane. I studied in Manchester and used to go to 'The Curry Mile' (the area not the restaurant) in Rusholme at least once a week when I lived nearby. Brilliant food in most of those places and as many restaurants didn't have a licence to serve alcohol you just brought your own. Cheap and excellent dinner was achieved on a very regular basis. I never got ill from the food there once, and I probably tried at least half the restaurants there. That's a lot of curry!

You folks should visit Pune.. There's a restaurant called"George" which serves the best Butter chicken with Butter naan"..And Seekh.. It's spot on.. I've tried like you so many places but this is every penny spent..! Unfortunately post pandemic quality has dwindled.But nice to see both of you'll chomp down the rubbish..😂 Yeah "one man's meat is another man's poison"! And of course the"Service"... 🥂

I have been to city-spice in Brick Lane and I have to totally agree with you guys it`s really really not great is it?. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala with mushroom rice and it was second rate.....but they do something right....the spring water they serve is Hildon spring water..... .and I think it`s one the best spring waters in the country. I will give both of your meals Darren and Lee 0 out of 10(The spring water on the table gets a 10 out of 10)

You should tell the owner's your thought's and ways they can improve now that would make for a viral video for sure. Maybe they will have a fighting chance to redeem and maybe you go back for a 2nd visit and see if they have improved. Maybe an idea for all the worst places your reviewing. Can't remember the last time I had a decent curry on Brick Lane. It's very hit and miss and more often than not a miss these days. 20 years ago it was the place to go. There are better places around for sure.

I actually say in the restaurant it is the most basic Indian food I have had. It wasn't great Zedd. Also, it isn't easy to say sometimes with members of staff nearby, I don't want to embarrass them

There used to be an Indian restaurant in Retford, can't remember the name now as it's been closed for a while, but the curries tasted just like Asda's ready meal ones, I'm sure that's what they served up. Good vlog, shame about the food!

First point. If you gotta keep ya coat on to eat in a restaurant, I’d have left straight away. And £60 for a microwave meal is shocking. Especially when you can get them from supermarkets at possibly better quality. Nice vlog though mate. Keep it up 👍

That fish and chip shop was my cousin's lol. It has been taken over by one of his staff. But my cousin's uncle (also my relatiive) still works there. They use good ole fashion beef dripping. Like the good ole days. I just told Danny from "Rate My Takeaway" yesterday to go there as he is in London right now, funnily enough lol.
