There are some demographics that consider “listening” to this “‘band ever, a cause to consider the act of self-annihilation, out of respect for the remainder of mankind
BRO WHAT?!? I got trashed as a kid because of that U2 crap I got so mad at my mom because I thought she was adding crap to my library lmao bruhhh that crazy I gotta apologize its been years
being in the kpop fandom during yummy’s marketing attempt was so fascinating because he just reposted mass streaming tactics that stans use to get their kpop groups to win music show awards in south korea 😭😭
@@godspowurldfamouz13Kpop fan group spam promotion isn’t really good for small artists, as it involves mass-streaming albums by fans almost constantly, but I would recommend for you to naturally grow by branching out to other artists your size that make similar music and seeking advice or collaborations and sharing your stuff through social media
@@godspowurldfamouz13 as a kpop fan this is what I’ve seen others stans do: -steam the song you’re listening to from start to finish - do not skip any part of the song - do not loop the mv/song - do not mute the audio - make sure the volume is at least 50% - if you’re streaming on RU-vid do not have multiple tabs open with the same video or else RU-vid will mark it as spam - turn off autoplay I’ll continue to edit this when I find out other tactics kpop stans use to stream
Fr when I got my first iPhone (the 6) in 2015 I was like why is this here? I wanna listen to 50 cent. Also when I got my first iPod in 2013 I swear there was a U2 album just in my library and I never listened to it
Rihanna's one could've been saved if it was just like 5 fans instead of the 80 plus and no media. It would've been quiet, Rihanna could've rested with the fans and there would be no weirdos on board. I feel sorry for her tbh, imagine trying to perform and then coming back to a frat house.
the U2 thing was so funny, i remember my mom would beg me to delete the album from her library every time we got in the car and it would play. i barely knew english at the time so we were both just really lost as to what the hell was even going on 😭
Still pissed about the u2 one. My friend had an iTunes account with just story narrations. She is a teacher so occasionally she will put on a story narration. One day she puts on a story her iTunes is on shuffle. Bam U2! Those poor kids ears.
I worked as an at-home advisor in the year 2014, and we’d get SO many calls about removing the U2 album from their library. I had some people completely wipe their iTunes just trying to get rid of it on their own. At first, you couldn’t delete it but eventually apple added a way to totally remove it. I’m sure it still haunts a lot of folks 😅
@@censored817 If I wanted to do it purely for money and attention I probably wouldn’t do it or I would do it with low effort. I’ve been writing songs since I was 14 with my heart and soul into these things. That was an obvious piece of advice I was already following.
I’m an audio engineer in north Florida and the best advice I could give you is do everything in your power to make connections. Everywhere you go promote your sound. Kick the stage fright to the curb and express yourself in everything you do. I’ve worked with a ton of blow up artists and a good bit of current relevant artists. There’s 3 C’s. Confidence, connections, and content. That’s the best advice you’re gonna get. No cheat codes just hard work and time management. Chase your dreams kid🤙🏾
@@steezdagodd3103 I got the confidence, I’m still working on content because I don’t have a lot to work with currently. I also live in a state where connections are tough unless somehow I get a response on instagram or something. I won’t stop trying man, thank you.
You should do a separate video about Madonna’s marketing. She was a beast from 1984-2013. There’s no true discussion about marketing in the music industry without mentioning the earlier fragment of her career.
Hmmmm 2013 is VERY generous. I’d say more like 2008. 4 Minutes w/ Justin Timberlake was her last true, charting bonafide hit. Since the Super Bowl (and the one new song she had for that only did well for a moment because of the halftime show & a Nicki feature), none of her efforts have garnered much attention.
@@constantine5028none of her songs since 2008 have been in the 100 biggest songs from that year, none of her songs since 2011 have gone top 10, none of her songs since 2015 have charted on the billboard hot 100 at all. she had a good 30+ year run and a hell of a legacy but her status as a current day hit maker is long gone
@@themusicaljunkie37honestly I disagree, that was one of the biggest sell-outs of all time. Anytime I’ve ever talked with anyone about U2 first thing that comes up is that apple deal.
@@themusicaljunkie37 it was more than enough. If you throw an album together and you know it’s trash so to boost sales to create a marketing scheme(because you know that on its own it would flop) then it’s time for me to move on because it’s a desperation move. You’ve made enough money, don’t try to shove your trash down my throat. Have some integrity. You’re no different than these influencers selling junk NFT’s.
It wasnt about Roddy Rich at all. Justin and Selena were competing against each other, both desperate to beat the other. The fact they both lost to a newcomer was the extra hilarious part (my personal theory is the reason yummy seemed so unfinished and basic was because he pushed up the release, but that's just a theory. Its equally possible he went temporarily insane)
@@vanessaamesty6739 She is literally retiring from music, getting into dramas like a girl from highschool and taking "social media breaks" every month. Not thriving stop d riding.
As a kid, I used iTunes to listen to all of my music. The entire household basically shared one library because it didn't make sense to buy songs again for different accounts (I liked my parents' taste at the time but also had my own). I remember seeing the U2 album and being very confused because nobody in my household liked U2 and I barely knew who they were. I tried removing the album and I couldn't. The hide feature that Matty mentioned was very glitchy and a lot of the time, the album would just reappear again. Worst part is, my parents thought I bought the album with their money and were mad at me for it.
@@baconeggcheesepodcast9390 He's probably most known for Die Very Rough, which has also been heavily memed. It's not a bad song but he's capable of more, which his other music shows. His entire WLR project(Basically his version of Carti's at the time unreleased Whole Lotta Red) is really enjoyable.
I disagree. Dude was always a poser. Maybe if he didn’t pretend to be someone/something he wasn’t. But his entire schtick was pretending to be this edgy hardcore emo kid… but that was all just a costume & a ploy to get attention.. which is why he didn’t last. He never had it to begin with. There’s a reason why X is still such a popular artist even years after he passed away & why he still has over 36 million monthly listeners on Spotify. It’s because he wasn’t a poser. He was authentic & that resonated with all of us. He understood us & we understood him. He was writing about real shit from his own personal experiences. Authenticity is more important than anything these days because it’s so rare to find. Mario Judah doesn’t have an authentic bone in his body. All he does is scheme to get views & clicks because he can’t do it by actually writing good, relatable music that came from his own experiences… he’s been larping as a SoundCloud rapper since day one. He was never going to succeed & he never will because of this.
That Songs of Innocence thing is SOOOO wild to me-I remember that album being one of the few on my iTunes account, which I shared with my mom, making it a super important part of the soundtrack of my childhood. I always assumed my mom had bought the album, so it’s really funny to my that the marketing campaign worked perfectly on me-I completely accepted this random album into my life and made a whole bunch of memories with it while having ZERO idea about the marketing stunt ???
Yeah U2 being forced on me used to piss me off. I even tried to clean my whole library and it wouldn’t go away. I was spending 100 bucks a month on music and being stuck with U2
Faking domestic abuse or any other abuse to try to sell your music while others are really suffering for real is pathetic. It’s making a mockery of the ones who been through it. Now you see why people don’t come forward cuz of stuff like this.
just wanna clarify the pneumonia comment from the journalist on Rihanna's plane, pneumonia is what what happened to people who got COVID during the first wave, which killed and permanently damaged many people. There's no way a pneumonia patient would've been partying on a plane for 7 days straight. In addition, if that was the case, depending on the organism that caused the infection, every single person on the plane would've been hospitalized, and I've never heard of riri getting pneumonia nor bronchitis. Reporter just wanted clicks
yea, i kinda read it as a big exaggeration just to point out how sick she was, which isnt too hard to believe after being trapped on a plane for 7 days
@@mattyballz I got their point with that but pneumonia and bronchitis are just too crazy, just doing my due diligence as a med student. Anyways, keep them videos coming, you're doing some good work :)
@@_.atd21fake news, as a nurse I’ve seen a lot of pneumonia cases get classified as “Covid” just so the hospitals can receive more funding. Covid, in large, was not a real threat.
As someone who’s had pneumonia (and had surgery because of it) the last thing I’ve would’ve done is got on a plane and fly and party with random strangers. The reporter is lying through their teeth.
Its because its not a gimmick or a rollout, the entire music industry is satanic, theyre all apart of the masonic order. Look up “the truth is” on youtube, this world is a lot eviler than you think.
Right dude. I’ve been arguing with fools in these comments about how he was the biggest poser to ever come onto the scene in any genre… dudes the most inauthentic, unoriginal, boring, phony around. He can’t actually write good, relatable music so all he does is try to come up with schemes to get attention.. his “I’m an emo sad boy” cosplay worked for a couple minutes but like.. throwing 3 shitty, barely permanent tattoos on your face & dying your hair to look like trippie red doesn’t make you an artist. lol! Dude has no identity. No personality. He’s just an untalented phony through & through.
It works though, and typically because it doesn’t require much effort. Slow people who don’t immediately understand symbolism or artistic references start calling it devil worship and it puts the media and buyers into a frenzy. It literally JUST gave Doja Cat a massive international hit.
Rihanna’s would have been cool if it was maybe like 50-100 fans. The media are only there to get a story so I’m sure thats another reason why Rihanna was resting.
When the U2 thing happened, it would randomly start playing for no reason and would constantly show up on my home screen. Didn't know who they were so I always thought they were random nobody's and was shocked when I learned they were so famous
The U2 publicity stunt will go down in history as the all time *WORST* PR nightmare ever!! That shit was so annoying and it took me for freaking EVER to finally get that damn album off of my phone for good!! 😂
Not hip hop but a band called upon a burning body did a gimmick for their next album where they staged their lead singer being kidnapped if I remember they said it was the cartel or something Didn’t really go down well when they revealed it was a promo
LMAO they got so much heat for that it was insane. Actually don't think any other band in the scene at that time had as much flak on them as they did for that stunt
For the Rihanna marketing gimmick, I would just be happy that I was invited, drinking alcohol, and travelling to seven different cities. That sounds like heaven to me. These guests were spoiled lol.
The worst thing about the U2 album is that while there were some songs I didn’t hate the album was pretty meh, I’d be listening on shuffle and something I didn’t recognize would be playing and I’d see it was from U2. I forgot to remove the songs for a while and just skipped them. Turning your album into a minor daily annoyance to random people is obviously a terrible way to advertise lol
I wonder what you would think about the marketing behind some of the 80s hardcore scene? "The singer of this band founded the gang you just jumped in to. They're your favorite band now." And Hatebreed is today's equivalent of those bands. Kids are smarter than they were in my day.
That U2 album downloaded to my current iPad and I always forget it’s there because I don’t use iTunes/Apple Music but every once and awhile when I’m playing a podcast with my Bluetooth headphones I guess there’s a glitch and instead of starting up the podcast after pausing it starts the album😅😅 It’s always a bit of a jump scare😂 it’s always when I’m not near my device either since I’m using Bluetooth so I never remember to get rid of it😅😅
8:22 that just gave me whiplash. the U2 thing happened in 2014. a whole new design for the iphone, yet the base storage option was still 16GB? wild to see how far we've come since then edit: 16:07 this is just the OG fyre fest meal
I remember when usurp synapse included razor blades with “have fun!” written on them inside the copies of their split with Hassan I Sabbah titled “Just Do It” it was awesome.
That U2 Album still pops u randomly even though I keep removing it on every single device I've had since this goddam album dropped. The amount of times I've linked my phone to my car or speaker and this album just starts playing. I'm sure they're nice guys and make music that a lot of people love, but I just can't hear their name without feeling a pang of annoyance about this album that keeps haunting me almost 10 years later.
Lmfao U2 overcooked for sure 😂 I remember being so confused about why the hell a U2 album randomly showed up, I thought I accidentally bought it and got freaked out
Regarding the promo airplane for Rihanna: they've got a singer scheduled to do live shows for large audiences, and they couldn't screen the people prior to boarding the plane for illnesses that directly affect the voice? And then Rihanna had to apologize and defend herself for isolating from that? An airplane, where everyone's air is trapped inside a container and airborne illnesses can spread. No wonder Rihanna doesn't do music anymore.
To make matters worse regarding the U2 & Apple iTunes Album dump, that album was, in my opinion, THE WORST ALBUM THEY EVER RELEASED. Not one song on it was worth listening to.
The funny thing about u2 is they just completely shot themselves in the foot if the just released the album on iTunes for free it probably would of been popular but instead them and apple forced it down every ones throats
The katy perry thing is so typically australian, our biosecurity laws are insanely strict because we have a super unique ecosystem and so much of our economy has historically been built on agriculture.
10:27 I’m pretty sure that song was tied to “pizzagate” & the abuse Justin personally experienced in “the industry”. He’s mentioned being abused in some ways & even has a history of warning young artists just coming into the industry about abuse. He of course couldn’t straight up say this because “they” wouldn’t like that. I wish more people realized that’s what that song was about. Was it weird he posted pictures of babies to promote it? Yes. Was that something that made him look like part of the PREDATORS in the industry? Yes. Wasn’t the best idea at all, but I DO think that’s actually what that song was secretly about. Especially the video.
@@Drivenaway89so glad some people know the truth! I feel terrible every time a young person gets into the industry because I just know man.... 😢 it breaks my heart. & ofc it ain’t just the entertainment industry either. Like we’ve seen it’s wealth hoarders, politicians (not just the democrats either, they’re republicans in blue anyway they’re a monopoly party not a duopoly, it’s “both”), from the law enforcers to the lawmakers, the “royals”, the heads of the churches, it seems to be almost anybody with wealth & power harming our kids man. I wish people would wake tf up & see this sht & stop supporting these evil mfs! I mean look how Boosie said he paid grown women to mess with his sons & nephews at 12 years old!!! He ADMITTED THAT SHT ON CAMERA & look where he’s at now... more popular than ever! It’s like his career took off after that. Not necessarily musically but he’s more popular than ever on the internet... smh he’s not the only one to admit to something like that on camera either. Lil Wayne said Birdman did the same exact thing to him & nobody seems to gaf. It’s sickening.
Seeing Justin Bieber beg to the Beliebers or whatever tf they are called to stream a song where he wants a girls 'yummy yum' as much as possible to get to #1 only to be beaten by a newcomer using a goose sound effect is bloody hysterical. And that's not just because the Box is a masterpiece while Yummy is garbage
