Absolutely loved these points Shruti. I picked up reading pretty late in life and started with Pride and Prejudice. It was difficult to get through and I could not understand why people keep telling me to read more. Luckily I didn't give up and I fell in love with reading when I finally got that one right book for me. I then knew what to pick up next. But I learnt all of this the hard way. This content is gold for people who want to start reading. Thank you so much for inspiring us to read !!!!

When i started my reading journey, i started with books published in my mother tongue. It helped me to develop my interest in reading. Then i moved to classics and there was no going back. Classics is my most favourite place to be in Book World. And today i am proud owner of 250+ physical books and some 200 e books... Somehow i can never relate to audio books as i love reading books myself.. I agree with all your points. Beginners should watch this video. Helpful one👍🏻👍🏻😍

Harry potter is what made me an avid reader. When I look at my battered old copies of Harry potter books on my shelves, I see my entire childhood ❤️. I discovered the reader in me in 2001 when I was 10 years old when I picked the first Harry potter book. 😍 I'd say Harry potter is always the best option if you want to get into long series as a beginner. Then came the twilight phase when I was in college 😂 good Lord! I tried re-reading the entire series recently and I couldn't even get past the first book tbh. I'm 31 years old now and now I see the real problem with those books. But I can't deny that the 19 year old me was totally obsessed with that world.😑 Then came the vampire-binge reading phase. 😂 Vampire academy, bloodlines, a shade of Vampire... I discovered booktube only after that. Then I could get good recommendations that I really needed. Booktube changed my reading tastes and made me realize what I actually wanted. This community is just awesome. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@fandomnewbie

Wow!! Keerthi, this sounds EXACTLY like me!!! My reading journey didn’t start with Harry Potter, but that was one book series that I loved more than any other. And I literally grew up with Harry. And after that was my Twilight phase and my Hunger Games phase. And then I discovered RU-vid in 2008 that introduced me to John Green and his books. And John Green led me to BookTube in 2010. And I’m also 31 years old and omg our reading journeys are so similar ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Great content! valid for readers like me who are not exactly the beginners.. * Even after reading for 4-5 years, I still struggle to buy a new book which I've mentioned in one of your videos earlier. Readers are certainly get attracted to prize winning books, books with highest reviews etc. I personally find them relative, a longlisted book can be far better than the winner sometimes! Books having 5 stars reviews can also disappoint you. *I don't have any taste of memoir, though I'm having "Playing it my way" and "A century is not enough". *Once, I was scared of big books too, then I read "A strangeness in my mind" and "Anna Karenina" both of which I liked very much. *About audio book, I don't know if you are aware that most of us Bengalis are very fond of Sunday Suspense in Radio Mirchi FM channel where very famous RJs narrate short stories in FM - a big chunk of these stories are written Satyajit Ray! *Famous author's writings I wont pick up again - Haruki Murakami, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, both absolute disappoint to me :-( *The 4th point! really?? I feel exactly opposite way, the books I loved most, I would not probably watch movies based upon those, really. I will be completely heart broken if I can not love the movie like the way I adored the book - so horrific to imagine. *One request - can you please review book of Margaret Atwood??
@fandomnewbie
@fandomnewbie 3 года назад
For point 4 I said that - I've you've watched the movie, don't not read the book. Basically the ulta of what you thought hehehe. It's because a lot of people have told me that just because they have watched the Harry Potter movies, they are not going to read the books. Because they know the story already. And I feel that sometimes, books have so much to offer!! So they should read the book even if they have watched the movie. Also another note on this point. Just sharing my experience as well with this issue. I used to feel exactly like you - that I will be heartbroken if the movie portrays the book badly UNTIL I worked in a production company. Making movies is damn tough. And the way I see it now is that adaptations are a completely separate thing from the source material. There is a reason that films say that the movie is "based" on the book. It's not supposed to be exact. It's supposed to be the director's or screen writer's interpretation of the book. Once I saw it that way, I could enjoy films because I kept aside the fact that they were related to any book. I evaluated them as films - writing, production, acting, set design. And not as a book adaptation 😊
@kuntaldey944

@@fandomnewbie okay. This was some deep rooted belief in me. Though there are some exceptions, such as Dan Brown's book. I've read all the movies of Langdon series, and I want to read those 3 books as well.
