Worst MMO Ever? - Toram Online 

Years ago, when I just started playing Toram, I met a low-level guy grinding that Crystal boss. I was a newbie, completely new to both Toram and MMOs, so I asked him to team up with me. We ended up playing for hours that day, leveling up, grinding stuff together and just chatting in broken english. In the end, he changed his character to a really high level one, wich took me completely by surprise, cuz I had no clue about different characters system. Turns out, he was just leveling his new character and was happy to accompany me on my journey. He gave me some really useful tips and even gifted me armor and weapons for a start. We didn't play much after that, but this memory still warms my heart whenever I remember about Toram.

19:18 Fun fact about the death mechanic! Apart from the struggle button, your party members can choose to "heal" your character at the expense of MP. This doesn't outright revive you but rather it drastically shortens the time it takes for you to Revive on your own. So during boss encounters, you have an option whether to prioritize damaging the boss or saving a downed teammate.

What I really like about toram is that it highly encourages to use the multiplayer/mercenary system, especially in the later stages of the game. While you can very much enjoy the game alone, the most challenging stages are better done in a group, and by adding other players to your friend list their mercenary hire fee becomes 0. Met a lot of cool people on this game when I was a kid and I still go back to take a look at the game sometimes, it's nice to see that it still has a very active playerbase.

It's actually surprisingly interesting watching a video on a game I grew up on, knowing context and workarounds that I wouldn't have realized aren't taught in-game and I've learned through some other player at some point

Asobimo vet here, only headache from playing their games is usually post story which involves community driven economy and party specific setups for certain boss/raids/farms. Harder levels usually requires this, in Toram Online’s case post level 100 you’d want to have a party specific setup to fight certain bosses/farm since difficulty ramps up from there on, with a small community sometimes its hard to find parties in global/local chat. Otherwise, fun game when played with friends since the game gets super strategic in some point

I played Toram Online for a little bit on my phone a good time ago. When I was homeless but had a job. I was just able to afford to eat, have a gym membership for showers, able to buy food, but not enough to rent a room or a place to stay. It was pretty fun, I suppose. But now it just gives me a very sad feeling, but a somehow familiar, friendly feeling.

By the way, if you guys don't know, this game is a goddamn sequel to a game that's not done yet called Iruna Online. Hence if you boot up the game it says "Toram Online Departure from Iruna"

Something else to note about the "Revive Here" timer when you die: Friendly players can use skills to help people that've been defeated. These skills will remove a certain amount of time from said timer too rather than getting the player back up immediately. So while you don't have to keep tapping, it certainly makes the healer's job a lot easier if you actively help the healer get you back on your feet too. Also, the comparison to FF14 is exactly what I made as well to my friends.

When fighting bosses that are too hard to kill, you can actually lower the difficulty of the boss down from level 1 to 0, essentially putting it on easy mode and allowing you to progress through the story. That boss you got stuck on is usually the boss when this strategy is necessary, and you'll likely use it for the rest of the story unless you've got a good group of friends to run with.

I didn't think a game with graphics that looks like it's out of PS1 would make me think "wow that place looks cool," but here we are.

This is my most cherished MMO ngl. It has loads of flaw and at times, frustrating to play. Toram doesn't really have the most eye-catching graphics or gameplay. But, the charm of the world and the community really pulls you in. I remember as a Newbie, grinding Slimes on the Sewer, not really making any progress. Then, getting help from someone higher level than me, even getting invited to a guild and making some nice memories along the way. Playing almost everyday after school. That was almost 9 years ago. I still take my time once a year in the game, checking on my character and Guild (now empty sadly), reminiscing and laughing at myself for making Hatsune Miku as my second character. Thanks for reminding me of the simpler days, Josh!

It's a little bit late but, Sololo is the name of the shopkeeper and not a name for the race. IIRC, it's introduced in the second chapter in the Quest name where the game refers to Pelulu as "Cule" (if not, it's still introduced in Quest dialogues within same chapter). Lore-wise, there's no term that refers to the whole population in Toram Online. Human race are called "Humes" and despite translations using terms like "humane" and such, the word "human" doesn't mean anything in Toram Online. It's an alien term. Diels are the ones with animal ears, iirc, they're one of the larger tribes lore-wise. Elves on the other hand are long-lived and pious. They are the closest ones to match the gods in mortal form. All Elven ears are uniformed.😮 It is not necessary for the main plot, but it's fun to know the differences between the gods' mortal forms, and the local races in Iruna (Toram Online's world).

I'm quite sad he never got to discover the evasion dashes mechanic. That alone changes the game from "farm 5 hours for potions so you can farm a boss 1 hour" to "learn to dodge with the dash and you dont need potions"

Hi toram online player here with over 4k hours in the game. This game is fun, and with the comparison to ff14 I find more charming than a detriment as I have played both and toram is a free game with an optional membership that only really gives you some exp boosts that you could get for free through online events. the main issues with the game really only start appearing at the end game. defense in this game is very strange, you can't afford to spend stat points in more than two stats on characters, and defense does not help you at all in this game. instead tanks take res% armor instead. this leads to the endgame being dps or get 1 shot which can make some bosses brutal to fight. another gripe thats rather minor but can lead new players astray is that despite the large player base, active players mostly stick to the international 1 server. there are more servers in this game than there are players to fill them. this causes some players that play on US servers or global servers thinking the game is dead which i definitely isn't. this game also has a gacha cash shop system and free and paid orbs are considered the same for most items however the banners do not last very long, a day at most which leads to saving and playing every day until that item comes back, not to mention there is no pity system like most gacha games which leads to alot of frustration with the system that alot of players avoid. the economy in the game is not very good. inflation is rampant due to a lot of eastern players botting the game and inflating the amount of spina available, and the cost of items from the paid shop can be extremely expensive. making money as someone who doesn't want to touch the shop much and obeys the TOS can be frustrating. there are easy ways of farming for money and exploiting events and hording items but it can be a struggle starting out. despite all of these gripes I love this game. I have made some of the best friends from the community and laughed, cried and persevered through the game to get where I am and I'm grateful for this game despite its many flaws. I definitely think you should try it out if you are interested in it and I highly recommend finding a solid guild to help you through the game. people are really willing to help newbies get into this game we all love. tl:dr: this game has flaws, but its a great game and worth playing. find a guild to help you through and you can begin to see the amazing things this game has to offer.

Oh wow, a big youtuber finally noticed Toram's existence! I've been very addicted to this game on my Phone back in highschool. Used to play it every day for 4 years. I remember I was in too deep into making the most optimal and complex Combos. I still think this is one of, if not the best MMO in mobile. The PC release was janky tho when I played it on day 1, I dunno if its alright now on PC.

Shame josh never learned that he can use skills from other classes from the library, self healing and mp regen might have helped a little

most in the items in the Orb Shop you can get for free actually! theres many events all year round where you can exchange some sort of event points for them! summer is one of the biggest events to exchange for those items for free theres also livestreams that happen often and some of them (usually near the end of each month) will give players more free orb items, all they have to do is use the code provided near the end of the livestream and redeem it at the designated in-game place. as well as when skill adjustments or certain events happen, there's a free reset event where you can reset your stats and skill trees a certain number of times for free i havent spent a cent on any typical orb shop items except for more character slots for more characters to customize, and orb shop special clothes (avatars) but almost everything can be free, no paying required

Seeing you play this game and stumble through some of the things that are basically second nature to me by now has given me a new perspective on just how complex it can be for newbies. So, newbie advice from someone who's been playing for a few years if you ever come back to this game: Combos are your friend. When you set combos, you can set special effects on the follow up skills that can decrease mana, increase damage, speed up the animation, etc. Just about everyone aims for an early 1mp combo to spam when farming. One of Toram's selling points is the lack of a class system. You have weapons and weapon skills. Each skill tree has skills that are available with all weapons, with the skill tree's weapon as a main weapon, or with the skill tree's weapon as a secondary weapon. As long as you meet the requirements for the skills, you can use them, and it can be a pretty big help if you're feeling underpowered. You can have a dagger as a sub weapon for your katana and have access to the dagger skills, which can give you more range (because throwing knifes), more damage (from equipping a sub weapon with its own stats), and inflict debuffs, with poison and spiked daggers. Armor skills let you spec into which type of armor you want to use and let you become more efficient at using it. Heavy armor for higher defense and guard rate, light armor for less defense but higher evasion rate. Play around with the skills, mix and match, it's the bread and butter of the game. You'd be surprised at the ridiculously complex builds people come up with. Breaking a boss's parts also requires a bit of timing. It's not something you see early game, but later on, breaking bosses or using skills that lead to breaks, can trigger some pretty nasty counter attacks. Stumbling, stunning, or flinching Pillar Golem is a no no unless you can tank the incoming damage from the attacks that trigger if you do any of those things or you have a tank in the party who can. Materia and crysta are comparable, but crysta (which are referred to as "xtal" in game) are by far a hell of a lot more important to your build than materia is in ff14. Boss dropped crysta is specially valuable. You only got to experience a VERY early part of the game. When I started playing, the latest boss was just after Roga, the one boss that absolutely whipped the floor with you (we all got our asses whopped by him back in the day, no worries lol he was the boss to solo if you wanted to prove yourself). That was 8 years ago. The game has a come a long way since then. We have more types of attacks now, blue AOE attacks, bosses with abilities that momentarily switch focus away from whoever pulled aggro to scare the living shit out of your squishy dps spamming combos behind the tank, party alliances for raid bosses, etc. Basically, what you experienced now is for the most part what the game was like 8 years ago.

Been waiting for this one. Toram is an amazing game that's held back by the fact that it's an MMO. It wasn't my first mmo, but it is my last. I don't think I will ever play an mmo again. Wish all my fellow straye the best.

Toram online also supports in-game housing, with plots you can rent and even farm on. There's also guild houses, the interiors of which you can decorate. Guilds can also participate in guild-exclusive events, such as a less complex version of deep dungeons in FFXIV. Honestly loved this game to bits when I was a kid. Ive since moved on to FFXIV and other games, but i will never forget those precious moments ive spent logged in, either chilling with my guild members in Rakau plains or helping them unlock the next armor. Thanks for unearthing this gem of nostalgia, Josh! 😊

After watching this video, I decided to give this game an honest try, for four weeks, to see just what this game is about. Here is my breakdown of Toram online. This game is fun...but requires a LOT of work. The game throws you in, expects you to know everything, but teaches you nothing. You need to jump into this game looking up guides with two tabs of Coryn Club pulled up on the side. The very first veteran player who helped me said "You need to become a walking wikipedia." Join an established guild and use their mercs to power you through the story. Set bosses to easy. Rush through the story because leveling otherwise is EXTREMELY slow. You can turn on cutscene skip in settings. When you do level off mobs, grind bosses within 5 levels of you, preferably on ultimate mode with a full party. Use exp books. Enemies give less exp the further away from your level they are. Your character will typically do almost no damage until they reach 240 and get their best skills. Make sure when you gear yourself, you make sure you have a ton of magical or physical pierce, as all higher level boss/minibosses have INSANE amounts of defense/armor. You will literally hit for 0 damage without it. You need a lot of money for passable gear. Your only way to make money for the first 2-3 weeks is to farm bird wings on a mage alt, nonstop. When you make your mage alt, go to the canyon directly south, leech off a party, sell the crap you get for just enough money to learn your familiar spell. Spam blizzard. Join a group, farm until full (to join their channel, escape > channel > click channel number). Only keep bird wings, toss the beaks. Back to city, sell, repeat. You can only trade 4 stacks of items at a time. Thanks Toram. You may also shout in chat to sell your 20 guild quests for 1 mil (where you go to their guild bar via escape menu and turn in weekly guild quests). The majority of players speak limited or no English. If you're looking for a group, join international 1 server because no other server usually has people playing. English server chat is filled with stupid shit, like barrens chat. The game has a lot of acronyms: lfp, crd, ampr, pp, xstal, cb, etc. Takes a while to get used to. Google food code buffs and put 4 on yourself (escape > channel > go to land > friend > side tab > search code), 2 of which should be 5k hp and 1k mp. If you want a 5th one, you have to make a farm yourself, which requires a ton of medicine (scrap the chicken meat from bwing farming, learn processing skill from library). It takes over two years of perfect cooking to grind it to level 10, have fun. All of your skills (with a couple exceptions) are learned by going to the library and require money. MOST IMPORTANTLY: do NOT mess up putting in your skill points. The only way to reset skills is via Book of Oblivion, which are occasionally purchasable in seasonal events, otherwise you have to pay irl money for it. Find a youtube vid for your build and do NOT mess up. If you mess up a character, delete it and level it again, as you are limited to only 4 character slots. All of your stats go into whatever does the most damage for your class. Don't ever split stats. If you make a new character, ALWAYS, always always ALWAYS, start story from the beginning. Story exp can get you to level 220 with 0 grinding and it's 50x faster than grinding bosses. Just run through the story with a strong mercenary and let him kill everything. There are free pulls every day in the orb cash shop. Click the top banner and pull for free, then click the play darts option in the bottom left and throw darts. Throw your dart when the item you want is in the 7 o clock position, you should get it most of the time (hard for most people though). Prioritize getting books, then uncommon items like anti-degradation potions. This game is for minmaxers, guide followers, and grinders. Everything takes a LOT of time and dedication to get. The game starts to get kinda fun once your gear comes together and you start to hit fast, move fast, with red and blue circles all over the ground, but boy does it take a long time to get there.

there is actually hidden (since the game never teach u directly how) fundamental mechanic on the game that u probably wont ever discover without reading guide like statting equipment. its basically let u put almost all unique stat on ur weapon and armor(like atk% critrate and critdamage) with some math calculating that let u minmaxing whole character build stat and this is something that i never seen on any MMO or any game even.

"Time to pulverize a colon" segued into "I've been reminded of my wife" is so suss that not even the implied authority of your vest can forgive the need for an explanation

Toram actually encourages socialization because if you add a player as a friend or join a guild, you get free access to mercenaries. These mercenaries could be LEVELS ahead of you and can one-shot bosses which makes farming a breeze, but part-breaking becomes difficult. Some players are generous with their equipments and can make an awesome one for you or give away their old one (which are still OP).

for the pay to win part , it applies on doing rmt since those orb shop items are mostly useless , life and mana pots just sits and get covered with dust in my storage , you can get lots of free tp ticket from events and weekly emblem (i have like 1k+ of those) , orbs are mainly used for buying storage or character slots, but the main use of orbs is just to buy avatars aka cosmetics

Fun Fact this game is actually a sequel from another Asobimo mobile MMO called Iruna Online. The things referenced in the world when you first started the game happened in Iruna.

Current Honkai/Starail/Genshin/ZZZplayer here, if you don't have space on your phone, trust me, this game is highly recommended. I've played this game for entirely 4 years and enjoyed before switching games, all are friendly people and guildmates are very kind, well sometimes there is assholes and scammers, but they are entirely generous. Plots are nice story are also nice, but leveling and bosses are annoying. Just don't be a beggar and be friendly. Theyll help you no time ^^ Additionally edit: Anime collabs are here as well like Konosuba, No Game No Life (happened few weeks), Vocaloid where you can evem cosplay as Miku and others. They appears yearly so don't miss em out! Also the best thing that they are still downloadable maps so it doesnt entirely full your space is another mechanic in this one to keep your storage big and free. No Pay 2 win here. You have to really grind which kept system straight. Only gemstone.

Finally, it has been reviewed! Edit: A few missed stuff here and there but overall a great review for newer players. - The dodge mechanic for the katana is actually a buff for certain skills. It is advisable to master this as it could give you an advantage later game. - During the Flare Volg mission, you could actually talk to Shreya for assistance. - You can leave the boss areas if the boss is way too powerful and you can manually change the difficulty that your character could survive in. - Combos do not drain your mp quicker, rather, you can actually save more mp with certain "buffs" that you can select for your combo. You can also INCREASE your mp usage if you apply "Smite" in your combo, if you leave it alone and unchained. - The cash shop is genuinely user friendly and that you don't really need to buy stuff from it unless you are gunning for certain items such as pseudoweight potions, piercers, or even avatar items (in which avatar tickets can be used instead). - There is a mercenary system that comes with adding friends. You can use their characters as a mercenary, which allows you to fight and survive better. This depends on whether or not they've registered themselves as a merc, however. - You can pair EVERY SKILL TREE together. granting you unlimited access to other skill tree buffs and debuffs, though be warned, as a new player, do not attempt this until you feel comfortable with your stat points and skill allocations. - The reason why some CB items are expensive is not because of players being greedy (though some prices are way too expensive) but because of how hard some of it is to craft, stat, and even pierce with different Crystas. - There is a system called "proration," meaning that if you attack with the same auto attacks or attack skills, you might find those attacks which deal 1.5k dmg lowered, dealing only 500 dmg instead. It basically stops you from constantly spamming attacks, and teaches you to attack with different skills to increase your potential damage.

To this day, Toram is still has one of the best and most fun support class. As a support main, I tried a bunch of mmo and no one still beat my experience of playing support in Toram.

Also you didn't mention this, but you can actually use your own alt character as a free mercenary and it will let you essentially level 2 characters together!

I don't usually watch RU-vid videos, but a friend showed me this and I couldn't help but make an account and jump through all the hoops just so I can bring up the combo system. I started playing this game right after it was released from beta, and while I'm not a Toram diehard and I haven't really played too much recently, I genuinely think the combo (and skill) system is one of the best parts of this game. In my opinion, it's what sets this game apart from all the other MMOs I've played. First, some background on skills. *You aren't limited to a single weapon's skill tree.* While most skills require equipping the specified weapon (i.e. a sword for Sword skills, a halberd for Halberd skills, etc), not all of them do, and you have two hands so unless you're wielding a big weapon (like a two-handed sword), you can equip multiple weapons and use their respective skills. The big takeaway here is that *you can make your own build.* Ever wanted to be a knife-throwing mage? Or a polearm user that also beats monsters to death with fists? Or a swordsman hunter that can use bow skills? In this game, *you can do it.* (Naturally, some builds will be more meta than others, but when I last played in Oct 2023, the balance felt pretty good. Every weapon genuinely felt viable.) This means when new skills are released, you get excited because it's not just that weapon type that's getting more skills, but EVERYONE is! Once you have access to more skills, the combo system lets you weave them together to form your playstyle. At the start, you're only given two "combo points", which just lets you string two skills together. But after you use the combo enough times and gain "combo experience points", you gain more "combo points" which lets you build bigger and longer combos. Not only can you attach more skills to a single combo chain, but you also unlock "combo modifiers" (I forget the exact term). These modifiers can be attached to skills other than the first skill in the chain, and include various effects such as "Consecutive - MP cost of the skill is decreased based on its placement in the chain" and "Save - the skill damage goes down, but the MP cost is set to 0. Furthermore, the MP cost is 'banked' and covers the costs of subsequent skills in the chain." This opens you up to so many possibilities, because now you're trying to work with the skills you have to optimize various traits that YOU deem are important. For example, if you want to minimize MP costs, you might build a combo that costs 100 MP --> 300 MP --> 200 MP --> 100 MP, then attach "Save" to the 300MP skill. That 300MP skill now costs 0 MP, and for the rest of the chain you have 300 "banked" MP which perfectly covers the cost of the next two skills. In total, this combo chain costs only 100MP (for the first skill), but you get to launch four different skills all in a row. The tradeoff is that by minimizing MP cost, the damage of the individual skills might go down a little. This can be worked around by making the combo longer, attaching different modifiers (particularly the "Smite" modifier which increases damage based on the skill's placement in the chain), or holding off on attaching "Save" so that it's used for skills where the damage is irrelevant (i.e. buff/debuff/CC skills). Furthermore, since you cannot attach modifiers to the first skill in the combo, various "weak" skills start to gain merit as "openers". These are cheap-- usually 100MP-- skills that let you start a combo with a low cost, and then the rest of the combo's MP costs are covered by the modifiers. Skills aren't just evaluated for their damage or how flashy they are, but rather how they can benefit you in a combo chain. That means skills that would otherwise never be used can become vitally important to different builds. Combos give you so much power, but it can also be your demise, as starting a combo will generally lock you into the chain until it's complete. So while a long combo will let you do more damage for lower cost (thanks to "Save" and "Smite" modifiers), it puts you at significantly higher risk since the boss may start an red AOE attack on you while you're doing it. As a result, the speed of a combo is another trait that needs to be optimized and factored in when building a combo. Some players prefer short, high-damage combos. Other players like combos that have built in interruptibility (e.g. using a skill like Smash or Holy Fist which require you to be within a meter of the enemy; if you're outside of that range, the skill won't trigger until you get close enough, which allows you to run around freely and use a different combo). Yet other players just say "fuck it, we ball" and will simply memorize the boss attack patterns and use their combo when they know it's safe. Modifiers like "Swift - increases the animation speed of the skill" help with this and let you deliberately build speed into a chain, if that's what you choose to optimize for. You can also build a number of different combos for various situations. As a free player, I believe you can have up to five (or six?) combos on your character at one time. So you might have a "long, low-cost, powerful combo", a "short but cheap combo", a "combo that stuns the boss so you can break parts", a "high-speed, high-damage expensive combo", and a "combo that heals/buffs you", all available to you at any given time. I remember spending so much time back then just labbing out different combo chains, trying to find what worked the best for the costs I was willing to pay. I was literally scribbling down and crossing out MP costs, listing skills that would be suitable as openers, skills that need to be at the end of a chain, skills that worked best if used before a different skill, etc. I was testing out combo speeds, trying to figure out how much time spent locked in place I was willing to accept for the damage output I would receive. Just to give an example of what this looks like, consider these skills: - Hard Hit: 100MP Sword skill that can flinch the target. - Astute: 200MP Sword skill (100MP if using one-handed sword) that increases your Critical Hit rate for a short period. - Trigger Slash: 200MP Sword skill that increases the animation speed of the next skill, and provides increased MP-regen-on-attack until then. - Impact: 200MP Magic skill that halves the MP cost of the next skill. - Meteor Breaker: 600MP Sword skill that deals high damage and gives a short period of invincibility. I'd start with 100MP Hard Hit, then I could choose to go 600MP Meteor Breaker with Save (making it 0 MP and banking 600MP), then follow up with Astute + Trigger Slash + Impact with modifiers like Smite and Swift since their MP costs are 0 thanks to the banked 600MP. Or I could go 100MP Hard Hit into 200MP Astute with Save (0 MP, 200 MP banked), 200MP Impact with Consecutive (making it 0 MP on its own, 200MP still banked), Meteor Breaker, then Trigger Slash. I could stick Smite on Meteor Breaker and Consecutive on Trigger Slash to make an overall cost of 200MP: 100MP (from Hard Hit) + 100MP (from Meteor Breaker, halved to 300MP thanks to Impact then reduced by 200MP from the Save bank). This would do a lot of damage thanks to the Smite Meteor Breaker. That means if you can't see yourself sticking to just one build forever, you can create another character that plays how you want it to play. This comes with additional benefits-- you can hire your own characters as Mercenaries FOR FREE! Combined with a friend Mercenary and a hired Mercenary, you can have a full party of four to take down a boss. The Mercenary AI has been improved significantly since the time it was first launched (they can cast skills now!), so building several classes is very rewarding to you and your account as a whole. --- One of the main drawbacks of the game though (which is a factor in why I don't play very much) is that resetting your skill tree is expensive (paying for a skill tree reset) or time-intensive (deleting the character and starting over, or waiting for an event that lets you reset skills for free). But it's definitely worth checking out.

Some things you missed: About the "Struggle" while downed: if you are in a party, your party members can spend 1 MP bar to use a interaction with you that speeds A LOT your ress. About the break parts: Paralyze actually dont break, what breakes is stagger/flinch, you could break with pommel because if the target is already paralyzed, the skill apply Flinch. Also, break has nothing with the "Armor Break" you saw, Armor Break is just a def reduction debuff.

You are actually not guaranteed to take damage from a boss auto-attack. If you are far enough away. So with enough patience and using a ranged class, you can kite bosses for a long time and not get hit.

As an active player. Here's a good thing about Toram 1st: the People. If u are a newbie just ask anybody a question. Most players usually answer if the newbie is asking for help/ direction/guides. 2nd: the Mercenary System. U can lvl up until lvl 220 in the current story even w/o decent equipment because mercenary can help u. But if not, U can always ask for help if u are a guild member or a friend or a random person u see in the boss place. 3rd. The Guild. Usually guilds help their new members either w/ boss fight that the mercenary cannot kill. They also give their old equipments to u. And give u pets as gifts. 4th. The Land. Land or owning a house . In game u can buy your own land and Design ur own house but the more useful stuff there is is "FOOD BUFF". It gives additional buff like +4000HP + 1000mana or +30Stats. U can always visit it because of the Address system and it last for 12hours.

It's actually quite funny. ALMOST every old mmo game Josh has these comments; 1. "Man this game used to be good" 2. "This game wasn't plagued with p2w trash" 3. "If you want to play this game, play this server" In this video however, both old and new players still praise it to this day. Everyone was concerned Josh would slam this game to the ground like Alchemia. Everyone also unanimously agrees this game isn't heavily p2w, or even slightly p2w. It speaks miracles for a 9 year old MMO mobile game. Although, everyone also unanimously agrees Grinding in this game is a negative but then again, this is an MMO. Grinding is synonym to MMO.

As a Toram online RU-vidr, I have to say that I really do agree with you on some points. This game is extremely fun, but it is a bit wacky. The game isn’t so clear on this, but you want to put your stat points into two different categories (Since you’re katana, I’d recommend Dex>Str or Str>Dex) as they can help you get more damage overtime. There are certain bosses that are locked behind another world. These bosses are way harder to fight as they mostly have two different phases. The music also changes as soon as the final boss of chapter 4 shows up. They go from traditional mmorpg music to delving into different genres. Overall, I’d say you hit every point in this one, good and bad, and I hope to see your next “Worst MMO Ever?” Video!

Just from somehow who used to play Toram since years ago. I have a few tips for newbie that want to play or just started. As he mentioned earlier. All of those players gathers around the commission board are mostly people with decent gear or even high end equip. Just send them friend request. The more the better. The reason is that most of them including myself has mercenary registered. Which is very useful for others to use. It is free instead of using spina. Some high power can instant kill any boss for mq run at least any mq boss below chapter 4 or 5 if even more powerful. Another thing is that. Boss part breaks will show up if you interrupt them. Some skill have them and most interrupt main mechanics is stun, which have the longest cooldown and window time to tap break (white circle), flinch. the shortest one and tumble. . And remember. Not all bosses are equal. Some dislikes certain interrupt skill and will go spam aoe or skill if used. About mq boss. Most of your first run always be hard. So as soon as the boss fight start, just head out to the exit and redo it again on easy mode. Changing the difficulty doesn't affect the mq progress. It still proceeds regardless if you managed to beat it. So suggest that you do it on easy instead. As first timer. Don't focus too much on detail. In fact..just mess up as you go. Learn something. Experiment. Try new weapon or skill. Your first char is intended to be mess up. When you're comfortable and confident enough. Only then you make another char with your free second char slot which now you put everything you know and carefully build it. Or make MD char for farming. Pick up magic job during char creation for it. With this, you now can actually farm for spina at ruined temple. Farm for beak. They're pricy. Around 10k ± per stk. Easy drop and easy kill too. Recommended that you put it on board . If you still not familiar with trading mechanics yet . They will scam you. And oh. Forgot to mention. You can set your second or any chat slot you have as your companion merc that never get tired. About combo mechanics. That is very useful and fact the most important part of the battle gameplay. If used right, you can reduce 2000 mp combo into 0. That's right. 0mp. You use no mp for every skill you had used. Depending on how you intend to use it. The system also allows you to multiply dmg output or others stuff which you'll figure out along the way. About the job and skill. You don't really need to remake another new char to change. This however is very expensive thing to do but you can just turn your current char which is probably already at high level into another job. Let's say your current job is katana and you want to play with sword. No problem. You can just reset skill and take appropriate skills for it. In fact..you can use other job skill if the skill allows it. And at last. Try to be friendly. Sometimes people will give you stuff. I gave a newbie an equipment worth of 30m spina before and they still never forget me until this day. Well. I have no use for it anyway so why not let someone that need them most use it. With that being said. Enjoy the game. Don't judge the book by its cover. In fact this game outlast most mmorpg I ever play on mobile and still standing.

Toram is actually one of the most engaging and challenging mmos out there in an age where mmos will cookie cutter the early-mid game to trigger the dopamine chemicals in your brain. Good stuff.

Able to create item by became a synthesist (Tec) 8. Farming material from mob to boss (Luk) 9. Became a tank and supporter class 10. Raising a stat is not always follow the recommendation (like Str>Dex & Dex>Str) 11. Event like season or collab is exist and has a lot of reward 12. Can ask in Shout to join a guild (lf guild) 13. Sell anything in consignment more 14. Can do maze, raid boss, and guild quest 15. Cooking a buff food 16. Can solo the boss if you already know the pattern of boss attack even a raid boss 17. Learning ailment from boss or player like dizzy, armor break, lethargy, poison 18. Finding useful regislet on stoodie 19. Challenge dungeon that gives you reward regarding your ability 20. Side quest that reward you an item weapon, add gear, special gear, even a skill book 21. The "P2W" is the orb just for drop gem rate, slot equipment adder (piecer, spirit needle, fairy silk, high-grade ornament) 22. Learning proration (auto attack) and combo as need more combo point like (Impact > Finale^Swift or Impact > Meteor Breaker^Smite > Finale^Smite) This game feels like i can't go out from the house that has everything i need. This has to be the first "mobile" oriented MMO I want to try. It looks like beyond the "necessary cash shop" to make it a viable game for the money-hungry people on top, this was made with actual love and a desire to make an actual good game. Nothing feels cheap or rushed or badly monetized. Strip a few shop and potion mechanics and it would be an incredible single player JRPG with very nice PS1 era graphics and a very Final Fantasy art direction that is lovely, even if it's indeed a bit more than just "inspiration" at this point

Hey this is just some tips from a 10000hr+ player: - instead of a relying on blacksmiths for equipment, you can try getting on events. Toram has alot of events that they do and rerun, and those events gets some good rewards too in my opinion. -from what i saw in your gameplay, u used mercenaries which is nice in story rush but i suggest this; try to add someone high level enough, like say lv200, that's either a ths, mage or tank (u usually see them with big hp>atk). Toram gameplay is really glass canon for dps so you REALLY HAVE to rely on tank especially on later stages where tank needs to do his job properly or everyone dies -properly allocate stats. You're using katana so you're taking two approach; DEX>STR (more dmg), STR>AGI (more faster atk animation). It depends on what you want to prioritize, big peak dpm or faster swings (since u might need fast atkspd endgame but if your equip have fast enough atkspd then good for ya) I'll be simple for this one, can't go that very full depth for ya, it'll be better left unexplored, I'd let you cook for that part. If Asobimo remake this game with the latest better graphic and add some contents that it's missing. This will be one of the best MMO to play right now. One of the exciting part of this game is building your combo attack. If you learn how to do a long combo almost unlimited, you can do more damage and kill boss faster. It's also best if you join a party to kill boss party and make friends easily. You can meet many good players in Toram as well as scammers. There's still a lot of features you haven't tackled yet. The main issue of TORAM is it doesn't has "Party Finder" or “dungeon que” like FFxiv. In FFxiv,you can check Party Finder or just go que as DPS,TANK or HEALER for almost any content in ANY time. In TORAM,you need at least 1 tank to aggro boss for others safety.Even if you have friends or guild member willing to play with you they probably won’t be there for you 24/7. Of course you can solo bosses.But I just want to chill in isekai after a day of work or on smart phone in a trivial time,not an INTENSE fight every time I get into the game. And it has gacha to improve equipment. If you don't pay, then go grind af.

Yessirrr!!! Ive been waiting for this day. You made a lot of good points about this game. Ive actually voices a lot of these concerns in many of my livestreams and made a multitude of videos about them. Unfortunately the dev team is very small and they are japanese so its difficult for complaints or concerns to reach who they need to reach.

I used to play Toram and the thing I love about it is just how much less restrictive it is compared to other mmos. You are allowed to just explore around if you want. I hate games that force you to do the story (extra hate if its auto-quest-forced-down-your-throat kind of gameplay) Its not perfect by any measure but there is a charm and I think with a little bit of tweaking this game could be really good.

This game was a wild ride. Though I played it a while ago and have lost my account, I wanna talk about how truly interesting it is. You have so much freedom in how you build your character, there's so much interesting builds. You have a lot of skill trees that can work surprisingly well together, and it gets so much wilder after lvl90 and lvl150 (unlocking the lvl3-4 main weapon skills). One of the magic skill "Impact", halves your next skill's MP cost, and can be used in any weapon type. This skill is pretty much used by everyone despite it's high Skill Point investment, and can lead to very interesting uses with the combo system. One of my favorite is a passive skill from the katana, which can be used with any weapon, allows you to dash into an enemy when performing normal attacks. While also providing you with extra MP recovery. You can have this on a 2-handed greatsword, using a skill that gives you multi-hit, causing you to gain crazy amount of MP every dash. But my favorite build ever is a support/healer build. You can stack up buff auras and focus on healing and removing debuffs for your teammates, which is surprisingly effective! In a game with a major focus of DPS and tanks, I didn't expect it. There's also a special bard skill that lets you buff even more, and let's you pull out an ukulele. It has a very interactive gameplay as well, tanks are particularly fun. There's a skill that lets you perfect guard a hit, but only if you time it right. You can use a gauntlet and get skills that interrupts your opponent's actions to prevent their big red zone attack, each with varying duration (1, 3, 5 sec,) and those trigger the break circles! A sword skill straight up has a short I-frame too! The combos are amazing, you can handcraft it to make you cast your big skills only cost 1 MP and deal more dmg, but going through a massive string of combos, risking getting interrupted and starting over again. Or you can make it quick "Impact" and boom. This system is essential to the game, and for budget players. Manually dodging/blocking was not a thing back then, but it's awesome now. You can dodge if you have a light armor, and certain weapon types like dagger/arrow as sub. You can block if you have a shield. Or 2-handed sword. Which in my opinion is dang awesome. So if you use it with a light armor, you can do both. Adds so much to the gameplay. Gameplay aside, some of the map are absolutely gorgeous. Some of the musics are pretty good, one that comes to mind right now is (Spoiler: York's boss battle theme). And the story is interesting enough! My issue with the game comes with the very late game. The custom made equipments are pretty much almost always eclipses the dropped ones. I think the devs are making better free stuffs but it's rare to get one that is actually better than player-made ones. Even learning skills can be expensive, so you need a LOT of spinas. Not to mention the bosses hitting very hard issue. Also the game is pretty hard to go through without friends and all, but that's the usual. I really do love this game, it holds a special place in my heart. But I simply don't have any more time to dedicate on the game, so I hope anyone who's willing to try it, can enjoy it to the fullest. Remember that mages are very good at farming mobs with skill lvl3 unlocked. PS: They have a dual sword skill tree in here, the edgiest weapon of them all.

Why are people comparing this to 14? Aside from the lalafells of course and the big black bad dragon destroying everything, there's not much else. Why haven't anyone mentioned the whole combat mechanic is practically monster hunter? Parts breaking, animation cancelling, dodging and the whole kaboodle for weapons/armors crafting. Favorite part of the game's definitely the crossplay. Back when I played this more, I'd play it while I'm out, then go home, hop on Steam and continue playing with my same guild on my same characters. Commentary about the game and my feelings about it: 1. The mobile version has a lot of free goodies the PC version doesn't have, more gachas and events and whatever, so I kinda abused that sometimes via the crossplatform saves. 2. Some of the "0/10 Greebledorf Skins, 0/16 Flimbo Kidneys" quests were a bit annoying because some (not all) drop rates were just awful for no reason. 3. I hated that fist weapons went more the "evasive mystical monk" route, though that's a personal complaint, I just love tanky fist-users in games. 4. PC's lack of free goodies meant respecs and a lot of other little things were harder to access without paying (unless you play both platforms, ha.) 5. Inventory/bank management was a pain, and hoarding was hard. 6. I LOVED the ability to have your other characters as NPCs in your party, it meant the classes that weren't viable solo could still be useful in "solo", though the AI could've been better. 7. I loved that crafting was done mostly via deconstructing things into generic components rather than being full of super-specific crafting materials.

Man, the last time i played Toram was in 2019. I can't believe im seeing someone reviewing it. You can totally be f2p and overpowered in it. BUT to do so, you must have the "Nakama Power" (power of friendship) and i mean that literally. Either you get into a good guild or have actual friends in said guild. My friend (the one that got me to play the game) had multiple characters and all are super strong. Except for 2 who are made for literally just Blacksmithing and Synthesizing. She made me strong weapons so even at a small level, i had overpowered weapons and armors. 😅 She spends her entire day on the game tho. She hit the highest "consecutive hour" achievement in the game. She and her online friends in her guild all spend their entire day in the game - farming, grinding, testing out builds. Tho she spent a LOT of money in the game, it all fell on the avatar gacha. All her characters are cute/pretty/handsome. But, unlike her, I was a solo player. And it sure becomes so difficult being solo in the long run. I ended up quitting because i basically just farm endlessly everytime i log in. Her gifts and creations were a blessing but i did tell her to stop giving me strong stuff because i felt guilty of always just receiving - not to mention i never joined the guild she was in, and instead went to another guild (which was weaker and turned out to be dying.) So yeah... Too much endless farming and grinding. The game is so much more fun with friends. I had a great time doing the dungeon challenge with my friends in the guild i got in. Altho it was dying, there were fellow newbies like me that all got together and played together a lot. I was always in a party with this one guy who was super strong. He always invites me to farm and grind, and we'd invite the others to do dungeon or events. Or play at that maze in the guild. So when he stopped playing, the guild became a lot quiet/boring in game, and the other fellow newbies in the guild left. Until i eventually left too. I still didn't join the guild of my irl friemd tho. At one point i got introduced to one of her fellow guildmate and the guy was super creepy. 😅 Other players in Toram are... Well, it's amusing observing them. Back then, i remember Rakau map being filled with degenerates role playing shyt while either farming those golden thingies that drop dyes or are just standing, typing their nsfw role playing. 😅 It was wild.

Damn, I remember being super obsessed with this game years ago. It was my first intro to MMOs lol. I used to get so frustrated with the cosmetic gacha as an f2p. Never thought I'd see Toram on my page again 😂, nice to see it's still going.
