Embiid was the best player in the nba this year in the regular season jokic was good but not mvp caliber in the regular season he was in the playoffs though
Embiid is really good, but Jokic is an all timer. The funniest part is Embiid whining about not having enough help. Dude, you've played with Harden, Butler, Simmons, Harris, Maxey and lots of skilled role players over the years. Maybe you're the one who needs to step up in the playoffs. Look at Jokic. Selfless, humble and down to earth. That's a leader. Look at Butler and the Heat. That's team culture. The Sixers are a joke.
to be fair, embiid's second option underperforms in the playoffs while jokic's really steps up a ton. but no excuse for embiid's severe underperformance. largest drop-off in ppg from reg season to postseason by an mvp in nba history.
Dude it’s Philadelphia💀 what do u expect 😭 that’s what caused the Ben Simmons shit. Embiid and the stupid sixers fans crying over 1 play as if the rest of the team didn’t play bad that night in game 7
Embiid choke in playoffs was epic. Not only that he underperformed, which is understatement, he as a leader that threw his them under the bus so casually... I didn't know that MVP should do that.
@@zivkozdravko WAT 🤦♂You literally just said Harden and Embiid. They're together on the same team but you said they're alone. While also saying Boston has Tatum? Tf.
This stupid video..embiid was doubled whole 1st round, why his ppg so low. Then had kneed injury whole 2nd round. Not playoffs would have missed games.
You can’t blame Embiid’s poor performance on his knee because his play style doesn’t exactly require athleticism but also remember he injured himself by flopping… You don’t feel sorry for that
@@Dark_Saibot which makes it even more impressive how Lebron destroyed him for most of his career when horford was younger and more nimble. His defense on giannis is very good.
@@Dark_Saibot Giannis literally averaged 34-15-7 against Boston the last time they matched up in the playoffs 29-11-5 against Boston in 2019 and 26-10-6 against Boston in 2018 what are you chatting about Horford has never locked down giannis
@@j4genius961 uh USA will always have more star power than Europe🤣 and btw wembanyama just like Chet. All hyped up just to kill his career in the offszn
This right here explains why Jokic's run was so incredible. When teams get to play you 4 to 7 times in a row they can find your weaknesses and wear you down. No one figured out how to slow him down.
@@Nightcrawler90210 I ain’t said his performance in the postseason that gave it away, it was his mindset lol. It was just the glaring moment in that whole situation
@@ScroodyyI know I'm just saying that TMac didn't get out the first round as the main or second option.(Before you say Houston in 2009 him and Yao Ming got injured. So it was basically Ron Artest solo squading both the Brandon Roy/LaMarcus Aldridge Blazers and Kobe/Pau Lakers)
it legit was a debate about who was better between Embiid and Jokic.. this year's playoffs settled that debate 💯 one guy played like stir fry in a game 7 and the other guy just won finals MVP.. Nikola Jokic is not only the best center in basketball, he's the best player in the world.. the real MVP 💯
@@Thegoldenchild415 true, embiid was arguably as good if not better than jokic in the regular season, but jokic propelled himself to a tier with only him and giannis in it when the playoffs came around.
@@MikHooper he wasn't better than Jokic in regular season. Come on, other than PPG and blocks he had nothing better than Jokic, Jokic lead his team to 1st seed.
I think it just goes to show how extremely challenging it is to perform well during the playoffs, making the performance of guys like jimmy butler and jokic that much more impressive.
We don’t know. Embiid won it because he had a better season and played the most games. Man you’ll guys kill me who knows nothing about basketball lol. That man isnt playing against any elite centers and when he matched up against Embiid he got served. Jokic is slow and he can’t play defense. Look at all the great centers they played against high level centers. Outside of Embiid what other center he plays against. I will wait!
I am baffled to people being unaware of the concept that the best NBA players don't play to 100% of their capabilities during the regular season.... that's why players like Embiid look good during the regular season, against teams that don't play defense, because most teams don't play defense for 95% of the time until the playoffs, when teams start defending, most players hit less percentages, score less points, make more mistakes, but the greatest players elevate their game and their percentages stay the same or increase...
Yeah I always thought Joel was very scummy and cunning for that press conference, passive aggressively assigning blame on his team, I just didn't want to say it out loud until you did. He may had been awesome in regular season, but his humanity just isn't complete yet.
I’m a fan of his.. believed he deserved MVP (at least one of the past 3 years, if not 2)… and the 2nd half of that game 7 and the press conference were for sure his lowest moments.. I hope Jokic winning it all and getting all the praise is motivation for him to get it together
look as a jokic fan, i am obviously biased toward embiid, but i did have at least a little respect for him (the situation with his brother, him not playing ball until he was 15) but then when he and harden had a GENERATIONAL choke in game 7, and had the audacity to blame his teammates, unforgivable. i hope you sixers fans get a better star player.
that Embiid collapse is epic. -10 points per game against the best teams in the league. guy is always going to feel like a fraud when he thinks of the 22-23 season
What everyone said, plus the fact D LO SHOULD NOT BE THE GUY YOU DEPEND ON TO WIN A SERIES!!! FOR CHRIST SAKE HE IS A ROLE PLAYER!!!!!! I hate Lakers fans. LeBron did not show up, and neither did AD. They are the stars, and they played like shit. They deserve all the blame cause they are the ones expected to show up, not some role player. Get a grip. The blame is not on DLo.
For the Kings - Huerter was definitely a disappointment, but I would nominate Sabonis too. Got outrebounded by Looney & beat up by the looney-green tag team. Scoring also went down the toilet sadly. Fingers crossed that he works on all of these issues.
looney outrebounds everyone XD i mean kinda biased as a warriors fan but sabonis isnt a crazy glass cleaner while looney is top 5 often and regularly gets 20 boards
@@coinboy_coin what are you even talkin about? Sabonis was literally the number one rebounder the whole season while Looney was #15 so it definitely was a surprise that sabonis was gettin worked on the boards.
Jokic last year was eliminated in the first round, Westbrook lost in the first round in 2017 to name a few. I'm a Jokic fan and an Embitch hater btw, just like to check facts.
@@user-zw7te3hl7k he didn't mean during their MVP season. He was saying that all players who've won the regular season MVP award have appeared in at least the conference finals during the course of their careers except Embiid of course.
Chemistry does has effect on making open shots in my opinion: for me, having good chemistry and knowing that your teammates got your back boosted my confidence to shoot, and confidence is essential to shooting effectively
Oh yes don't give the MVP to Jokic because he earned it twice already. Give it to this guy so he can complain about his team! I hope all the "experts" that voted for him can now justify their decision
It's not really complicated. People just have to compared Embid and Jokic when they don't play and play for their own teams. Start from there, then look at ALL the stats and see who is the MOST VALUABLE PLAYER base on ALL THE STATS. If you can't do that, you probably just basing your opinion on either the 30+ pts average and his blocks or just the skin color. Remember guys, it's not a scoring champion trophy or defensive player of the year trophy, its the MOST VALUABLE PLAYER! VALUABLE PLAYER TO A TEAM! A TEAM!
Really, it’s the most valuable player in the LEAGUE.. it’s most outstanding player.. they both had historic seasons.. and personally I think either could have won it the past 3 seasons.. Embiid’s team won more games all 3 years.. last year, Jokic winning as a 6 seed was egregious imo (and they were gentleman’s swept out of the first round).. I would’ve personally given that MVP to Embiid.. and this year, I would’ve given it to Jokic.. but you can’t give out 3x in a row when at least one of those was a mistake.. (Jokic was swept out of the 2nd round for his first MVP.. so technically Embiid made it further in his MVP playoffs than Jokic did in either of his MVP playoffs)..
Embiid’s team won more games for sure as if you look at the games without them nuggets have had a far worse record than the sixers. Jokic had the worse team the past 2 years by far. This year he had the better team and the nuggets won more games with Jokic(48 wins) playing than Sixers did with Embiid(43 wins)playing.
@@timholland2129 I'm not even saying that Embiid is a better player right now.. I don't think you can argue that after the run Jokic just had.. my thing is that this season, they gave Embiid the MVP as a make up call for last season because Jokic had no business winning it as a 6 seed.. (remember, Embiid was missing Simmons all season too and Harden came in after the all star break).. point is, there's no point in arguing the MVP this year as if Jokic should have 3 in a row.. I think he should have 1 or 2 over the past 3 seasons and Embiid should have 1 or 2 over the past 3 seasons.. Jokic broke out this year, but maybe Embiid's health holds up and he breaks out next year.. bringing up the wins and PER, and PPG and all of that stuff is just an example that even if Jokic is better, he's not 3x MVP in a row better (without the playoff success).. and I think now that he has the playoff success, he's fair game to win his 3rd MVP next season.. and if he does, people will whine and say it should've been 4x in a row, but it really shouldn't lol.. 2 for Giannis, 2 for Jokic, 1 for Embiid is about right given these past 5 seasons..
@@gbmbg114 Well, I guess Embid help with having other team wins some games since is the whole league? I don't know how you're able to look at the league but miss the Team? How valuable is the player to a TEAM winning in regular season! You saying the 2nd MVP of Jokic should be for Embid shows how much you don't do research and just base your MVP on regular season standings and still miss the meaning of MVP. Do some research on why the Nuggers are ONLY 6th seeds or was eliminated on the first round. If you can't figure that out do some research. Amazing how you base the regular season MVP on first and 2nd round playoff. I guess the NBA should just remove finals MVP then since MVP is also base on what rounds you get eliminated? Your technicality is so bad, do some research! Start with comparing who Jokic is playing with and who Embid is playing with during that 2022 season! Once you finish comparing who they playing with, start comparing their regular season stats. Just so annoying how I have to explain to someone who is very technical! You should also do some research on why AI won the MVP. He doesn't average a triple double you show know that, but research who he playing with. You can start with that as well.
I lost all respect for Embiid after this years exit presser. Dudes a frontrunner, wants all the attention and accolades when its going good, then it goes bad and dude just points finger at guys behind him. Dude sucked in playoffs and than had the audacity to blame others 😂😂
@@marcusbell-dixon4733 lol I'd rather just watch him fail each year in second round. He's always good for a solid laugh every May. Then he throws somebody else under bus in presser. Pure gold.
And how many all stars Embiid need to pass secound round? Buttler, Simions, Harden, Tobias, Maxy? Joker does not have a single all star player in his team. Never ever.
so we gonna forget that half of these players came off of injuries and some of those players are never gonna play the same. It’s not their faults and making a claim that a small portion of players play with injuries is insane because these players don’t have the same bodies, not the same injuries, and it depends on how bad the injury is so I really don’t understand that claim imo
With how much the Europeans are becoming more and more dominant in the league it will come a time where the NBA is the one who will be getting inspiration from the euros
His FG% was good and his ppg was just a bit lower and that's it. He has never been a great defender or scorer anyway. People expect way too much out of him for some reason?
Ok to be fair, James Harden doesn't deserve to be on this list. Yes he choked in the 2018 playoffs in game 7, but he carried in game 1 when they didn't have Embiid. Gotta give him credit; his prime ended in the 18/19 off season.
Yeah players 33+ in age shouldn't be on lists like this. Klay is older too and has has multiple serious injuries. These ppl expect him to play like superstar wtf.
Honestly I really think that Joel deserved this MVP. Yet his Play Off Perfomance was so terrible that it totally unjustifies that title. I really hope that they’ll get a leader into the franchise otherwise the chances for a ring less Joel are extremely high
I’ve always felt that the MVP should be given just before the finals. Who plays the best throughout the season and playoffs. Then finals mvp goes to the best player of the finals
@@gchdufdi I know what it is. That’s why I said what I said. They should change it to include the playoffs. That would have garanteed Jokic get both MVP and finals MVP because he was better than Embiid in the post season
@@gchdufdibut Joker lost 3 mvp because the narrative was he did nothing in the playoffs but he played wcf 2020 but Embid never played ecf but that is not counting for Embid just for Jokic.Embid is a bad person and bad teammate always blame others when lose.Jokic is two class better player than Embid period.
Jordan Poole: Reverted to the mean. Klay Thompson: Getting old. Julius Randle: Regular season hero. Joel Embiid: Participation Prize MVP buying his own hype. James Harden: Trash. Donovan Mitchell: Me-first player who would not sacrifice stats for wins in playoffs. Evan Mobley: Didn't have big games but didn't overcompensate at least. Jarret Allen: Seems humble. Wouldn't give up on him. Jrue Holiday: Always been over-rated, but nobody going to take away that championship run he was stellar. Deandre Ayton: Didn't stop Jokic, but who did? Seems like a scapegoat to me. Speaks to Suns dysfunctional nature. Season before he was well valued. Karl-Anthony Towns: Fake star player. Gobert never would've been brought in if he was truly dominant. Kevin Hurter: Yea, I noticed it too. The potential is there. But this guy just lacked an appreciation for his team needing more out of him, particularly on offense. Dillon Brooks: Took a lot of hate, but I have no problem with this guy trash talking LeCommie. Dude just missed open shots, but at least he took them. Big mistake by the Grizzlies to announce they won't resign the guy. Ja Morant: Not on the list, but terrible decision making cost his team advancing IMO. De'Aaron Fox: Not on the list but also terrible decision making cost his team advancing IMO.
For the Final 4 games in the Celtics series and in the 5games in the NBA Finals, Jimmy Butler deserves an honorable mention for this list of yours. He was inefficient, timid, and at times lost out there!
Embiid to Jokic is like KD to Lebron unfortunately. Except KD didn't want a pity MVP as much as Embiid did and actually made several conference finals in his time in OKC lmao
As a Nuggets fan Michael Porter Jr was historically rancid from 3 pt range and on numerous occasions made some other poor choices but had a few clutch moments when it mattered. He's talented, he's fortunate everyone has his back and I hope he works on his game.
