Wasn't an accident. Someone, an very old friend, played me, got a bunch of money from me, then refused to pay it back. After arguing about it for a few months, while she was confessing to having an affair with a married man she met at church, I "accidentally" sent screenshots of our conversation of her sleeping with and sneaking around, to the wife of the man. Yep. Epic fallout. Not getting that $750 back. lol

The divorce one is nobodies fault but the dad. It's obvious he had violent thoughts/ideation and anger issues long before divorce was even brought up and might have done it regardless.

My mom told me that my friend in elementary school’s parents were actually her grandparents, and her sister was actually her mom while her nieces and nephews were actually siblings. I never told my friend, but I constantly felt like I was lying by omission whenever I was around her. Why do adults feel compelled to tell their kids about gossip that could ruin someone’s life?

It won’t ruin her life. My cousin grew up like this and my grandparents told him who his real parents were. His parents were teens and heavily addicted to drugs so that’s how my grandparents got him. He’s known forever that my grandparents aren’t his parents. He found out in middle school why he wasn’t living with his parents. It hasn’t affected him at all because my family was honest about it from the rip. He still calls our grandparents mom and dad. He calls his real parents mom and dad too. So it’s like he got 2 sets of parents. Trust me, she’s going to figure it out eventually, all it takes is a 23 and me test to blow up their lil charade. And when she does she’s going to feel betrayed by the family she loves. I absolutely hate families that lie like this. They’re so embarrassed by what other ppl think that they’ll lie to a family member for their whole life just to save face. I would tell her if I was you because she deserves to know. And she will be upset when she finds out that you knew and never said anything.

My wife accidentally revealed to her mother (after her grandmother died) why her grandfather treated her now dead younger sister and said mother so differently. Infidelity and not having the same fathers. This was revealed by grandma to wife before she passed away. Because it was so off handedly said, my poor wife didn’t know her mother didn’t know. 🤦🏻‍♀️ She was mortified because she was the last one to know about it that wasn’t dead and then she gave her mother a bit of insight to why the sister got everything she wanted. Sad situation

I the one where the man killed his wife I think the wife told OP's mom who for some reason told OP I have no idea why and OP of course being a child told his friend who told her dad. And then she died because he probably had control and anger and violence issues and that's why she was trying to get a divorce If anyone killed her, aside from you know the actual killer, it's definitely OP's mom Also making OP a young child apologize and Live with that guilt for years is a bitch move
@Lokian_Mermaid

Yes, and it was likely told in confidence, and was a very stupid thing for OP's mom to tell OP. There was no reason to tell OP until after the mom and child got away from that man.

That was dumb of them the best thing you can do for someone with a disorder is let them have the diagnosis especially one that affects the mind. Like before I knew mine I had to much self hate for not fitting in or being able to sleep like others etc now I'm at piece both able to understand myself and separate my disorder from my self assessments as things I can allow as I can't control. Not knowing why is the worst part of disorders

Sounds like my parents. I began to notice I was having anxiety attacks at 16. When I was 18 my mom had told me I'd been like this since I was a child. "Why do you think we get the corner booth seats at restaurants? It's for you. You know, to make you more comfortable." She & my dad thought it was just going to go away on its own as I got older. Nope, it got worse.

Wow! Both of my kids are on the spectrum and it was always something openly discussed with them their entire lives in age appropriate ways. My ex and his brother, we all now know are very likely on the spectrum and didn't get a diagnosis because I guess they didn't know of so many different kinds of high functioning back in the 70's. My in laws knew something was a bit different and the did try for years to get help for them but the doctors came up with nothing.

My dad messed up REALLY bad once. I knew my uncle Bob had passed. My parents told me it happened in his sleep. A few months after, my dad is talking to his friend, right in front of me. He said "yeah, my brother in law (self inflicted passing). Poor Bob." And I looked at him with terror in my eyes and said "UNCLE BOB K***ED HIMSELF???" And ran away crying. I heard my dad cuss and call after me "Honey, wait" but it was too late. I was sad about it all over again, and kinda mad they lied to me. I can see why they lied, but it hurt when the truth came out. They didn't let me go to the funeral in case it was mentioned. 😭

On the topic of blood donations, I heard something like anyone in the EU during the Mad Cow outbreak is unable to donate blood due to how prion disease works since it can take 40+ years for symptoms to manifest, and until then it's basically impossible to determine if someone has the disease or not.

Between my father's passing and his funeral, my mom said something along the lines of dad hadn't had any children from his previous relationships, citing me as his eldest child. I spoke up. "What about the one he signed away when he was still a teen?" He had only mentioned it once and though he didn't drink often, he had been when he told me the story. He never said anything about it again and i didn't ask as it seemed to be a painful memory and when would ever be a good time to ask for details about an older half brother? My mom immediately asked one of dad's oldest friends that knew him around that time. He said it was possible. So mom learned that my dad had, in a sense, lied about not having any children their entire relationship, through decades of marriage days after he passed away.

The one who outed a gay Mormon to other Mormons… that could have been catastrophic. Gay teens in that situation get kicked out of their homes and become homeless for things like that. I’d honestly consider that unforgivable - putting someone’s safety at risk in a way that could ruin their lives like that.
