The frontiers songs can be explained with one fact. Some cyberspace songs were made by composers that before only worked on the Sega rhythm games chunithim and maimai. And with songs made for arcade rhythm games, can be good, but a lot I feel are just for it to be challenging to play, and less good to listen to.

The Unleashed E rank is a masterpiece, and You Can Do Anything, You're My Hero, Seven Rings in Hand, and My Sweet Passion are bangers and have no place being here. Re: My Sweet Passion, even it's lyrics IMO do fit with the other Adventure tracks: they're all shameless, in a good way: The upbeat main themes are unabashedly corny trying to be "cool", Shadow's are stupid edgy, and do I need to mention Knuckle's raps?. If you take that same Over The Top, unapologetic approach to Amy's character (a stalker simping for Sonic), then My Sweet Passion its lyrics about shaving certain hair and painting yourself to look like your crush is 100% what you'd get. Plus the actual instrumentation goes hard

I will take no Speak With Your Heart slander! That song is so happy and positive, it's like a comfort song for me. Plus, the version they played at the anniversary symphony is SO BEAUTIFUL, it literally made me get emotional and cry.

Central City from Sonic Chronicles is a bad remix of Diamond Dust Act 1 from the Genesis version of Sonic 3D Blast. Of course, I'm gonna bob my head to it, even if it's shit.

i unapologetically love all hail shadow. banger song, on my playlists. what i will say is that it does NOT belong in 06 or any other game, it only belongs in shadow the hedgehog. that song invokes the idea of an evil and arrogant shadow that doesn't make any kind of sense for a *canon* shadow. in the 05 shadow game, however, you have all kinds of story routes and quite a few where shadow gets crazy power hungry (the android and alien ones come to mind) and in those cases i think all hail shadow ABSOLUTELY fits what's going on. i love that song, i think it has a place in the amnesia/identity crisis era of shadow, and i think people are too rough on it because it (rightly) shouldn't be associated with the modern canon good-adjacent shadow

Fun fact: Almost Dead isn't technically a Sonic song. Its one of the few acquired songs Sega has put in Sonic games, like Vandalize (which actually had a rather *Not Kid Friendly* original version, at least almost dead was pg when they picked it lol). It was also used in the credits of the movie Return of the Living Dead: Rave to the Grave, released the same year as ShTH. Ive seen it. its raunchy as hell but it was alrighty imo, it got pretty dumb at times but ive seen *far* worse.

the situation with the sonic chronicles ost from what i've heard is that the composer for it, richard jacques (yes, THE one from sonic r and jet set radio), didn't know how to make music for the ds, so for the overworlds they just stole midi renditions of old tracks (central city is diamond dust from 3d blast, genesis version), and for the battle themes they, iirc, just recorded what jacques had made but the recordings were mega low quality somehow...

Bro didn't include any track from Sonic Labyrinth, those tracks are surprisingly trash. Like, Boss theme makes me uncomfortable, it sounds so wrong, so dumb

As soon as I saw C40 Free I knew to check the comments…. I only saw like 2 but I know ppl love that version. I agree that generally if the song was made prior to C40 singing it, that the original is usually better but Free was probably their best cover of a pre-existing song. Idk how this ended up on here compared to like 7 Rings, nothing necessarily wrong with that one either but the intention of the original is so different compared to what was then attempted with the C40 version which tried to make it general rock again.

What I've learned here is that there's not enough bad Sonic music to make a full bracket if you're trying to diversify the game selection. Also damn, I didn't expect to hear someone's religious bias in a Sonic music video, bro definitely thinks Atheism and Satanism are the same groups. X'D

FUN FACT: The Sonic Spinball Options theme is actually just broken. In fact (surprise, surprise), the soundtrack in the first version of the game was broken as well thanks to them having to create a soundtrack in less than *two hours* . The European rerelease fixed this, but not the options track. If you actually fix that track, it sounds surprisingly okay.

I’m sorry, if we talking about Sonic Frontiers tracks specifically, how did people think Exceed Mach was bad when Rumble Rave was RIGHT THERE!?! Exceed Mach is the ultimate stimming track and helps with any situation you are in, while Rumble Rave actively gives you anxiety anytime it plays.

I do not understand how people hate Virtual Enemies. The whole point of the level is that you're under Infinite's illusions of the Phantom Ruby, with the song's lyrics being the avatar's inner thoughts about how they're just illusions and there is still hope.

Thank you for including Crush 40's Free. I used to like all Crush 40 as a teenager unsurprisingly, nowadays their originals are pretty great overall, but the covers are almost all bad. Free, His World, All Hail Shadow and more, they're hard to listen to at times. Though I get why you dislike Amy's theme (the lyrics suck_, I can't believe you chose that when her even worse theme still exists, Follow Me. Tidal Plant Zone, Atomic Destroyer Zone, Rank E music, Almost Dead and All Hail Shadow are absolute bops though, are you kidding me? I could understand the Crush 40 version on the list, but the Magna-Fi one? ;P For me, the missing worst if I were to add are His World (Crush 40 version), Mushroom Hill (Sonic 3), Follow Me, We Can and every Sonic Colors Ultimate track, those are the omissions I would personally consider. Obviously not actually upset, great vid as usual. Liked the two co-hosts for this one.

Something that terrifies me is that every Sonic game going forward after Frontiers has a techno soundtrack for every stage. I just could not stand any of the Cyberspace tracks aside for one or two of them.

Honestly, Never Turn Back should have stayed Shadow's Theme in 06. It's the most accurate representation of who Shadow has become by the (canon) end of Shadow 2005 and throughout Sonic 06. "Bow your heads low. All Hail Shadow." I believe it is. Honestly, Almost Dead works for being the True Evil Ending of Shadow 2005, where Shadow is JUST Edgy McHedgy. I am going to be 100% deadass. Dreams Come True's version is better both in English and Japanese (also can I just say that Dreams Come True impresses my by doing both versions flawlessly. Literally if it wasn't the exact same voices I wouldn't expect the two versions to both be sung by the same people.) Man, screw y'all, You Can Do Anything, while it's lyrics ARE goofy as fuck, goes fucking hard, and it's lyrics are charming FOR it's goofiness. At least SOMEONE has taste.
