I didn't think this game would be that terrible, but The Beverly Hillbillies PC Adventure Game for DOS somehow surpasses Daria's Inferno. So...let's just make fun of it.

Just wanna put this out there: I know the save/restore menu doesn't LOOK weird, but the way it works truly is clunky, much like a lot of the games Capstone published. You'll just have to take my word for it. OR...you could plaaaaaay iiiiit... you know you want some of this. You want some Beverly Hillbillies game in your life.

It's like they knew few would remember the Beverly Hillbillies, even less would remember the Beverly Hillbillies movie, and _no-one_ would remember the Beverly Hillbillies Game-of-the-movie-of-the-series, so they had to make sure it was so dreadful that you certainly wouldn't forget it!

They could’ve easily done an adventure game just based around the culture shock/difference. IE: the genuine loyalty and good nature of the Clampitts, versus the phony disloyal BS of California/Beverly Hills. Something like Jet getting in trouble hunting without a license or granny getting in trouble for making her shine without a permit etc…

Hey! I have that same lava lamp! The potion not only gave Jed super strength but apparently super agility judging by that backflip he felt was necessary before punching the safe door. I'm glad I never knew this game existed.

Fun fact, the actor that played Jed back in the show was the original tin man in the Wizard of Oz. His makeup gave him aluminum poisoning and he spent weeks in the hospital and was replaced.

It is hard to find people to talk about Korn with anymore because I don't know if anyone still even remembers that band let alone listens to them anymore. I stopped really paying attention to them after See You On The Other Side, and that was over 10 years ago.

You are a brave, brave woman for tackling that game. If you need some help in recovering from feverish anxiety dreams where you can't find where you put the corn, I know a good therapist that specializes in that. Like, specifically, corn anxiety.

I can't believe this exists, and as an adventure game. I could see a horrible SNES/Genesis platforming game where you play as Jethro -- collecting random items from the movie, as threadbare as it gets. It's a shame the graphics actually look decent, but hilarious that anyone thought the Beverly Hillbillies movie would be such a smash that people would buy videogame adaptations. So...now that I think about it. Was it because of the success of The Addams Family movie that we got this, McHale's Navy, and Leave it to Beaver?

I didn't have cable growing up for about 4 years, so all I watched on repeat was I Love Lucy episodes recorded onto a VHS, the 4th season of The Simpsons on DVD and a Best Of collection of The Beverly Hillbillies. Just wanted to say thanks for pointing out the finer points of the sitcom and bashing the movie :P

I was skeptical and seems like I might've been right: hillbillies in said Beverly Hillbillies were apparently from the Ozarks, which is not the South so much as the Rust Belt or Midwest, since the region is more Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Still very rural and redneck even, but not Southern.

It took way longer than it should have for me to notice that you were standing up in this vid. I could tell something was different on the first to camera part but it wasn't until the final one that it finally dawned on me that you were standing. Capstone is a crappy company. They were a one-office outfit out from Miami that had to license the Wolfenstein engine to make Corridor 7. They went bankrupt and had some other problems as well.

Oh goodness, that's is positively shocking indeed. You'd have thought that they'd have had *something* from some of their prior games to re-use here. But I guess with Capstone, proper development wouldn't have been a surprise. But that navigation in the opening bit. Yikes! I'm not sure I want to brave my sanity in giving it a shot though ;) (Also, *dig* that Ankh necklace!)

Holy Mary mother of Joseph. I haven't thought of this game in years. ... No, DECADES. I only completed it thanks to a guide, plus a crudely drawn map to manoeuvre the rabbit. Here, have some PTSD. "Can't get that Californy lingo." (I may be paraphrasing, it's been so long)

That movie on which the game was based WAS terrible! And it wasn’t because they couldn’t have done it right, it’s because they chose not to do it right because they thought it would sell better with all the gritty content they added that ruined what charm there was. I’m not surprised the game is bugged and the plot really doesn’t make sense either. Sounds like they were on a $5 budget to make a game that’s more like a feature length commercial that doesn’t end until you figure out the illogical “logic” puzzles.

I loved this game as a kid, i still got it in the original box haha. Edit: i dont remember having any of the issues you had.. asides from the ridiculously cryptic game objectives, had to build myself a physical map of the woods. I think the UI issues are resolved by playing on technology from 1993 lol

+Linneus My favorite Beth bug was in Fallout: NV on the PC it was very possible to only be able to load games from within the game itself. Want to play from where I left off? Have to start a new game and hit esc to load my save. Don't know what caused it but it sure got annoying quick.

+Dubious Rigmarole Holy crap, that would have driven me insane. After about the fourth or fifth time, I think I would have said, "Okay, you know what? I didn't want to play it that much anyway." Which Fallout was it that had the head-spinning bug right at the beginning of the game? I have a particular fondness for that one. I've also found some hilarious ones in Skyrim. My current game miraculously ressurrected Skjor even thought he died ages ago in the storyline.

Chida Gamer That would also be New Vegas but I never experienced it without a mod. It did happen to other people though and you bet if it had been my first experience I'd have been either terribly confused or terrified, can't tell which. You didn't need to start a new game every time you loaded only from the title screen, it was weird, but oddly a simple google search told me it wasn't uncommon and the "solution". I've had that happen to me too. There is a road between Whiterun and Falkreath where at least five dead NPC roam. I started calling the Underworld. I don't know what causes them to respawn in the world, maybe they have quick-save too. My favorite Skyrim bug was when all the doors in the world became locked universally. No amount of waiting would cause them to open even during normal business hours, if I picked them everyone inside went instant hostile even if I was stealthing. I guess some days it just doesn't pay to be the Dragonborn.

Dubious Rigmarole I thought it was New Vegas, but I couldn't remember. I haven't played a Fallout game since the first one. I think my all-time favorite Skyrim bug is one I saw on PBG's channel. Describing it doesn't really do it justice, but it involved female vampires loosing their animations, their clothes, and their heads. I'm not sure if it really counts as a Bethesda bug, though, because it may have been mod related.

Chida Gamer New Vegas is a sequel to Fallout 1 and 2. It is also my favorite FPS Fallout game, but it does have its share of nasty bugs. I watched that series and I've tried to replicate that bug a couple times and have failed. I laughed so hard watching it I wanted to see if I could reliably cause it to happen just for amusements sake. PBG must have some kinda high or low luck stat.

one thing that I would like you to play is whatever you consider the opposite of adventure games, I'm just curious about the performance. I think the opposite would sadly be a mindless first person shooter where the game spoonfeeds you everything, but I'm not sure.

I imagine in gamer hell-this is one of the only games one is allowed play, as well as ET, Jake and the 99 Dragons, and Cho Aniki...though Cho Aniki is the ring of hell where you go insane. So be good folks, don't end up in Gamer hell.
