I nearly had this happen to me with shiny Ho-Oh in Heartgold but luckily i did still have the master ball (i just really didn't want to use it unless i was forced to)
Literally my first shiny did this to me back in XY 😭 It was a Shiny Solrock, in that one gems cave where you find the first Team Flare member I believe. I got roughed up by the Team Flare guy so my team's health was pretty low, and then I found the shiny it just wiped me
The "It's Impossible To Aim" message gave me the head canon that Pokéballs have an aim assist, and it gets confused if there's more than one wild Pokémon.
That actually makes a ton of sense, especially with Pokémon that are constantly moving or create conditions that make accuracy hell (I can't think of an example off the top of my head, but I'm sure there's at least one Pokémon that passively manipulates air currents around it)
Funny enough way back in the day of red and blue, there was a chance for you to literally miss a ball pitch. Three years research into johto really was worth it.
Plus when you consider that in Legends Arceus, the player is just throwing things with rapid fire and you could catch 10 Pokémon in 5 seconds, it does seem that modern Poké Balls do have some type of system to help it lock on properly

One thing you forgot. Catching a shiny to have the game crash immediately after, happened to me with a shiny gardevoir I caught and it crashed right after I caught it
OMG the same happened to me in XY for a Horsea. But not only did it crash right after, it was crashing whilst I was saving. So it didn't just take my Horsea, it took my whole save file and the rest of my shinies down with it.
I don’t even want to know how many shiny Floettes or other tiny Pokemon I could’ve missed bc of SVs graphics and insistence on making some Pokemon near invisible
Pro tip, when shiny hunting tiny Pokemon with barely noticeable shinies like Floette and Tadbulb, open the camera app. It'll give you a closer look at the Pokemon, letting you spot it without going blind.
@@otaking3582 Opening the camera app might be faster, and if you're using a sandwich, multiple little time saves like that can be crucial, with Floette specifically because they always appear in groups.
I lost Rellor in the same way. It was fun to have zoomies as Meowcarada until I noticed a golden ball in the grass and remembered that not only I started running in the opposite side of the map, but also it is more than possible to instantly kill shiny accidently just going closer to it....
I almost lost a shiny Charmander via Synchro Machine. But I pulled myself out of Sync, ran back to the spot, avoided a suicidal Doduo, and managed to catch him. I named him Lucky. 😅
Did you not save before battle? There's no reason to lose a shiny in S/V if it doesn't despawn before you can get to it. I even recovered a shiny after the game crashed, since it automatically creates backup points after catching a Pokémon or healing at the PC, even if autosave is turned off (which it should be)
Honestly ya not doing this in SV is just negligent. Technician breloom with spore and false swipe does work. Imagine shiny hunting and rolling a 1/16 chance every time you.click a move.
"Wishing to be praised" is something I personally relate to. My male Combee kept up a wild crit streak with that, knocking out Kyurem and a shiny Chansey. He knows Endeavor now
If it makes you feel any better, I once lost my ultra moon shiny Groudon because I reset too quick, legit saw it for half a second, but it didn't register in my head until I pressed the buttons. I was able to still get another, but boy I was not having a great day after that.
The first time I encountered a shiny I accidentally killed it because I was getting super annoyed getting spawn attacked so many times I didn't realize it at the time and I was like oh come on😅

There should've been an "inner ring" in ScarVo where Pokémon can spawn in, then a further "outter ring" where they despawn so shinies don't spawn then insta despawn if your moving around
I was playing a Nuzlocke of Platinum a while back and I got to the part where I was guiding Mira out of the cave and we had a wild encounter with a Shiny Zubat (and some other Pokémon)! I decided to try and catch it but as soon as battle started Mira KOed the Zubat with her Kadabra
I remember finding a shiny Vulpix in SoulSilver after walking into the grass on accident and I was so scared it was going to roar me. I just threw Pokeballs at it until I caught it. Peak anxiety. 💀
I think there’s also that rare case where encountering two identical shiny Pokemon while walking with a partner in diamond and pearl would crash the game.
I found my first ever shiny in Let’s Go Pikachu. A shiny Pigeotto (bad at spelling) spawned in next to me and made a B line for me. At the time all I knew was that a bright shiny yellow thing appeared and jumped me😭😂
I’ve had a shiny arceus struggle to death on me, it was my first attempt at getting a shiny legendary/mythical. True pain was felt that day. Luckily it shined again shortly after getting a master ball.
I really wish there was a post game item or something that made it so a wild pokemon would instead of fainting from recoil be left with 1 hp. Honestly was the most annoying part about making my living dex in S/V, well besides trying to get 3 family Maushold and 3 segment Dundunsparce which is just tedious
The ending. I can relate. It’s never a critical hit when you’re trying to beat the champion, and then this shiny shows up and it’s a crit. Or they use a move with recoil damage and knock themselves out.

Here's a new way to lose Shinys now that you can see them on the overworld: them spawning in an area that will trigger a cutscene and force them to despawn. I had this with a Shiny Venomoth in area Zero and I will never forgive Glimmora for denying me my chance to catch it.
There's a way to get around a shiny Pokemon fainting due to struggle. Get a Pokemon like Trevenant that has the harvest ability, and the moves skill swap and trick, and have it hold a leppa berry. This will allow the shiny mon you are trying to catch to restore its moves and avoid struggling. Idk if this is a guarantee to allow the battle to go on endlessly, but it's been a lifesaver and worked every time for me!
Oh nooo 😭 Believe me, I feel that. I Lost a shiny cresselia in US when I tried catching it with beast balls. After that, I found out about that method and never risked it again.
The one thing that frustrates me when it comes to shiny hunting in S/V is the fact that alot of the time, I cant even tell if they're shiny or not unless I was setting up the 60 k.o.'s for the outbreak hunt. The only reason I even caught a shiny Sinistea and Charcadet were because I had my pokemon out doing auto-battles, otherwise I would've completely missed them.
Have you considered running out of Safari Balls in a Safari Zone to a Shiny? Or worse yet, being extremely careless and having the Shiny *wipe your entire party*? Both are rather unlikely, but they could happen...
I once lost a shiny in a totem battle in ultra sun. It was against 5 regular wishiwashi. Even after I fainted the other 4 I still couldn’t catch cause it was a totem trial
The totem pokemon are, unfortunately the pokemon who are called by them have a chance… I had been shiny chaining eevee b4 doin the trial… ig the odds weren’t in my favor and a shiny trumbeak was called for help… it sucks bc even after u beat the totem pokemon the pokemon who was summoned is still considered to be in the trial so…. Yea… it sucks… 🥲
The first shiny I ever remember seeing was a shiny Zubat when you're doin the escort mission through Eterna Forest with Cheryl in Diamond, and, of course, her Chansey KO'd it before I had a chance to catch it...

Getting double shinies in Diamond and Pearl (unsure about Platinum) is extra special painful, because if those shinies are the same species, the game can lock up after one of the Pokemon sparkles. Leaving those two shinies there, just out of reach, staring at you until you painfully restart your game.
I've heard rumors it doesn't even have to be the same species, just any time that they'd both show shiny animations at the same time. Two of the same species will of course always do it since they obviously have the same length animation, but two different species with the same animation length could also do it. Maybe.
I've never (too my knowledge) had a shiny spawn and then despawn immediately from render distance in S/V, but I did fail Shiny Cyclizar twice because it spawned, ran away, and despawned itself
I think people that have these problems fall under the 'i want to have this mon in this specific Pokeball and you can't stop me' boat... quick balls followed by repeat balls is always a good option
since I'm not too familiar with memento a shiny litwick decided to just die and it shocked me,thankfully it was a event outbreak so I found another one a few minutes later,but still,I never knew memento even existed
when a distorton activates in PLA, all of the surrounding pokemon despawn. So if you see a pokemon close to the distortion area before it spawns, it's entirely possible for it to spawn in and despawn your shiny.
There’s also the one where you remember catching and having a shiny as a kid but because of your lack of reading skills you release that precious Pokemon while just messing around in the box

I was running through the tall grass in hopes to find the “rare pokemon” money bags had mentioned. When i discovered a different colored staravia. It was unlike anything i had ever seen. “This must be the rare pokemon,” I exclaimed gleefully as I then pursed in catching it. I was unable to even after using ultra balls. After a few minutes of battle, the different colored staravia used whirlwind as it blew away my dreams to one day capture it.
The worst part about the shiny double battles is that in DPP, if you find 2 shinies in the wild in somewhere like Eterna Forest, the game will just crash, so you don’t even get 1 of them
Trying to find a shiny in Scarlet/Violet is like trying to extract anti-matter out of a banana, it just appears then immediately disintegrates itself with it's counterpart and disappears.
After 6 uncatchable birbs in the briefcase simulator of BDSP, my first (and random encounter) shinies in SV and then again in Teal Mask? Starly. Sometimes the failed shinies come back to you. Sometimes they haunt you.

Pokemon Pro Tip: You DON'T actually have to weaken a pokemon before catching it, especially if it's something like a lvl.19 Salandit. Legendaries are different, but any normal pokemon you'd consider "hard to catch" like Snorlax only needs an average of like 10 Ultra Balls from full health with no status conditions.
Or in scarlet and violet when things spawn in the walls and you can’t ZL focus on them in the walls anymore. You initially could but they changed that rather than fixing the wall spawn issue, they make it worse
One thing you didn't mention: About a month ago, I came across two Shiny Pokemon in the Johto Safari Zone in SoulSilver within about two days of each other. Not only was I shocked (straight 1/8192 odds), I was TERRIFIED (because Safari Zone). Caught the Wooper, the Tauros fled. I guess that makes 2 out of 3 Safari Shinies for me (caught a Shiny Azurill in Pearl back in '07), but definitely not the place I want to find Shinies.
My fiancée sold all of his balls in white to afford more full restores for the e4, then went to the cave before the e4 and ran into a shiny boldore with no balls to catch it in 😅
I didn't realise in SV you could save in front of shinies and they would stay shiny when you reload the game, only found this out after I had a shiny Glimmet explode on me 💔
I phased on a Vulpix hunt by running into a Baltoy. I had no idea what to do and it just exploded instantly. I blame the guy who was showing me his shiny roaring moon named ka-boom literal moments before that happened
I was in one of those scenarios in Diamond and Pearl where you have a friendly trainer following you around for a while and all the battles are double battles, my team up trainer knocked out the shiny.
In ORAS I found a shiny Pelipper and whittled it down a little... it was difficult as it kept using Roost, but I made it work; my next hit would put it in range, but there was no way it would be knocked out unless I got a crit, and a burn with my resisted fire move, AND it chose that turn to not use Roost - even though I knew it still had PP. So yeah, naturally all of those things happened in the same freaking turn. I also had a shiny Graveller explode in VC Crystal.
Man, that last one has been the reason I have lost more than a couple of shiny pokémon. Not on the list: the shiny pokémon using a move that has recoil damage after I had used false swipe 😢.
It's not any of those you've mentioned. It's "Your software encountered a problem and must restart". on switch. Found a shiny Murkrow and didn't save. T^T
