I'm sure with all the bourbon hype going around, the distillers are using the $100 price tag as the new $50. They know before release that the product is not worth the money. We in the bourbon community have to stop feeding into the hype. Thanks for pointing out the barkers.

I love the SW Malted Rye but malted rye itself is a divisive flavor. The Rare Stash rant was great. It looked like you wanted to throw it against the wall. LOL! I'd like to have seen OKI Reserve Batch #1 on this list.

I 100% agree regarding Castle & Key. Any batch. It’s average at best (and even that’s a stretch). At least the bottle looks pretty on my shelf. Which is good because it’s going to be there for a long time :/

Love and appreciate your anger toward Rare Stash. Just went on their website. Have you looked at their tasting notes?!? They literally don't have a single flavor in their description. This is what it says you can expect to taste: The initial taste experience is intense and satisfying, followed by a complex array of flavors that engulf the palate. The finish is long-lasting, tantalizing, yet smooth, with the perfect balance of flavor characteristics and alcohol that will keep you coming back for more. ----- This has to be a joke right?

Bummer you didn’t enjoy the Lost Monarch cask strength. My expectations were VERY high as well given my love for the regular release but I enjoy the cask strength too. I’ll happily take your backup bottle off your hands haha! Love the videos

Funny you mentioned the Calumet 8. I just revisited my bottle a couple days ago, and after being open for a couple years now, it’s way better than the first crack (cherry for dasaays). Give it a shot down the road. Thanks for being the BEST!

I would've done exactly what you did with the lost monarch, but enough videos pointed to it being the least exciting of the bunch. I grabbed the emerald giant instead. It really is fantastic.

My most disappointing purchase was Booker's lumber yard. I've never had Booker's and was excited to get the opportunity to buy and way overpaid. It wasn't anything special. Also I have batch 3 of castle and key and it's pretty solid but definitely young. And finally first time ever watching you. You cracked me up. Loved the video and subscribed which is rare after only watching a single video.

I always look forward to MidWinter releases by High West….but this years was so sad. The last two years have been great spice bombs . Unfortunately that was not the case this year. I love a good port finish, but the port covered up everything rye in this year’s release. The spice was subtle, the nose was subtle, and the after palate was non-existent. Idk if they aged it for too long in the barrel or if they used high, age statement port barrels that result in much high residual sugar content but it was too wine-forward sweet. 🙁

I was also SO let down by Lost Monarch CS. Had made up my mind going in that I was going to buy three bottles from the CS series. Which three bottles? Well, three bottles of Lost Monarch obviously. So badly regret not getting just one of each now. What to do with two backups?

Calumet Farms 16 year old; At least the batch I got. Acetone and airplane glue, even after oxidation. They must have aged it in plastic barrels. Horrible stuff

Rather then being upset about buying two bottles of Lost Monarch, could you just add water and proof them down to essentially make the lower proof version that you enjoy? Perhaps proofing it down a little and you'll like more then the standard version.

my local has a store pick Copper & Cask that's the same 51 rye 49 malt MGP. Cask strength, only 5 years, only paid $55. Was tasty enough.

I feel like the Redwood Empire CS LM is not the same whiskey as the normal LM just at CS, it seems like it is actually the Grizzly Beast at CS. I didn’t think the standard LM was a four grain, whereas I thought I saw the CS is just like the Grizzly Beast is.
