Today's video is as raw as it gets, no scripts and no preparation! I wanted to show you exactly what it is like to install and use the Mojotone T Standard Solderless Harness. First off, I want to be upfront and say that I am no technician and do these upgrades with less than minimal knowledge of electronics. Do I let that stop me? Of course not!
Second, I opted for this specific Tele standard solderless harness because I do not have what is needed to solder anything at the moment. I'm actually not that good at soldering, which is one of the reasons why I opted for this specific kit.
I hope this video helps you, and if you are inclined to support what I do here, I have some affiliate links further down in the description of this video. Cheers
I'm a Stringjoy artist, and play their set of Broadways on all my Electric guitars.
I play the 10/13.5/17/28/38/50 on all my Gibson and Epiphone. I play the 9.5/13/16/26/36/48 on my Strat and Telecaster.

I prefer the Obsidian and I explain you why, have more connections, once I have 4 way switch on my telecaster I have an extra ground and the ground from bridge. Mojotone only have the standard connections

Is it necessary to use the knobs with screws or do they make push-ons that work? Sorry, I'm a newbie. Great video though. Thanks!

That Dean Markley K20 was my first amp back in 1987. It wasn't a bad little practice amp!

Thanks for the review. What is your current feedback on the harness. Do you think soldering the pickup wires enhances the sound more than solderless? Any thoughts on the Vitamin T cap? Or did this wiring harness really sound well? Thanks again!

It still works great. I don't think that I could hear a difference between soldered or this type of setup. A solid connect is just that; a solid connection. It passes the signal without impeding it, so it's fully functional. I don't know very much about that specific cap, so I really can not say.

Thank you for sharing. Playing through Badcat? We're all your demos recorded through pure DI? Or mixed with mic? Thank you

As I recall, this demo was with a simple Shure SM57. I only use DI if I intend to reamp.

Deoxit works wonders for fixing things i would try taht o nthe pot next time or if you want to reuse it and if you get some of thjat cloth tape like o nthe outside of a humbucker and wrap that around the ground wire on the output jack to seperate the hot.

I kept the original kit, and will use Deoxit on it for sure. Right now, I am really happy with the Mojotone kit.

09:45: "The volume pot.... doesn't bleed off too much treble" 😆 Yes that's because the Mojotone wiring harness comes prewired with a treble bleed kit already soldered into place. That means that when you turn down the volume, the treble "bleeds through" which is why they call it a treble bleed. The more you know 💫

I'm not usually comfortable doing my own mods. I took my Tele to a local shop to get some Fralin Blues Special pups put in. I have done some repairs on a couple inexpensive acoustic guitars. The last was a bridge doctor lol. Not overly complicated to do. Turned out pretty good. MoJo makes good products so I'm sure it will last a long time.

I'm an idiot doing his own repairs . I have minimal understanding of electronics and I always pull through. This kit is as dumby-proof as it gets.

So, this is the issue I'm having with my Emerson harness, I find the pots very loose. They actually vibrate when hitting certain notes, so I'm thinking of going with a mojotone harness. You find these pots have a bit more resistance when turning?
@TheToneLounge
@TheToneLounge Год назад
They are a bit stiffer in comparison to the Emerson, but it's not a huge difference.

I'm in the market for a new 4-way harness for Way Telecaster. I only am going 4 away because I have JBE modern-T pickups that were hooked up like that with my 920d controller which crapped out. Sort of like you I don't have a soldering iron and I am living in Korea right now. While your video was helpful I'm having a difficult time choosing between low pass, standard, and high pass. Aso, I assume there isn't a difference between solderless and soldered in means of tone or longevity, coming loose...etc. I guess it comes down to high pass or standard. I hate when my volume knob rolls off the actual volume too quick, too deep. I want to roll from a somewhat cleaner, prettier, software sound of what my tone is set at on 10. I want it to roll down to at least 7. And now I will also want to find a new plate as well. Any suggestions? I like your red pickguard. My Tele is black American Standard with a white pickguard. 99% of the time I could care less if my guitar is pink with a big rainbow as long as it jams. While I am moving though I am looking for something other than white. Sort of dumb because it looks fine, but I want a change. Any ideas?

For a 4 way Tele harness, I suggest looking at either Obsidianwire or Mojotone. I don't know if the soldered vs. unsoldered connection makes any impact on the tone. As long as you have a strong connection and signal is passing unimpeded, then your tone should be fine. My pickguard is actually the original, I just used acrylic paint and sprinkled some sparkles on top. 😊
