@@justg00ch when I say something is overpriced, it means they are asking more than what people or myself is willing to pay, has nothing to do with saving up. I rather have a used GTR, which they are plenty of at that price point. I've had 3 370z's a 300zx and an M3. The new Nismo Z is over priced. The base model is fairly priced if you can find one with out markup even then i am not a fan of the VR30. If I did want it I would go for the infinity Q60 with AWD put 15k in mods and save the difference. That new 9 speed is ass according to most people

the trans is good for 1000+, same getrag 6 speed they've been using for years, the reason why they say that is because they would have to sacrifice drivability by switching to a heavier clutch for more power. that being said, i would be worried about the stock clutch in the regular z 10000%

Stop saying the same dmb sh on every channel. There are plenty of modified "400Zs" that make much more than this Nismo and the auto transmission is great. Also, Nissan opted for the auto only because it's faster than the manual (as with the GT-R). I don't know what you people eat to be so dmb.

Absolutely love the SavageGeese collaboration!! This was a fun video, and I love the takes both of you had. Love both channels it was great to see. Also, the price on this thing hurts the soul quite a bit. I miss the days of entry level under $30k Z’s, I love the sound this thing makes but with the price point so close to the Supra... probably would pick that over this.

I’m trying to comprehend how their manual in the performance trim wouldn’t hold an extra 20hp and 34ft lbs of torque that’s in the nismo. Is the clutch in that really already that strained?? The excuse of it not holding up to “the extra power” seems weak to me..

I prefer an automatic but also an owner of a manual FD3S, and 370Z. Live in the city and the transmission can handle exactly what I plan to build one of these to, 600HP. You'll never shift as fast as this AT no matter how lightning quick you think you are.

@@lemonmanlopdablop its not that , automatic trans can get a lil extra turbo PSi for small periods of time . kinda like in hyundai they have that overboost button you hit and you get like 30 hp and ft ilbs for about 40 seconds . Manuel trans cant overboost .

I find it hard to believe that the 6-speed manual they use in the Z, which is essentially the same one they've used since the 350z, can't handle 420 horsepower and 380 lb/ft of torque. That transmission is notoriously stout and has been left completely stock in 600+ horsepower cars for almost 2 decades. That's probably the most popular manual transmission used for swaps into high horsepower Japanese car builds over the last decade plus. It's basically the Japanese T56.

When the 400Z was announced, it was so approved by enthusiasts because in comparison to the Supra...it was cheaper, actually made by the company, and was manual. Now with the most-enthusiast trim not having a manual I can't help but think that they fell flat on their faces.

The Supra manual basically killed whatever Nissan had going into the release of Z. The only reason anyone would buy a Z over a Supra is because they like the looks more of the Z over the Supra or they absolutely can't spend a couple thousands more for the Supra.. everything else the Supra is a far better value and more capable than a Z.

I have an Infiniti 2022 Q60 RS iLine proactive and I'm loving every moment of it since Nissan will stop producing it for 2023, as per rumors. The Q60 is more practical IMO cause it seats 4, & it's AWD, making winter driving in Canada a pleasure in a Q60 RS iLine . ❤❤🎉

Enjoy it, great daily & weekend car‼️ I’ve had mine for over 3 years & no mechanical issues thankfully. Able to run 10 sec 1/4 miles passes on the street, it’s been tuned & built. Couldn’t be happier for what it is as GT/Sporty luxury coupe.

At MSRP $64,990 Red-Blooded Smackaroonies, you kinda get ripped off. They made the Nismo a better 400Z but they didn't make it the sports car apex predator it could've been. You can get a similarly specced Toyota Supra 3.0 Premium with a manual for $58,745 MRSP. You get an *arguably* better car with a manual for over 6 grand cheaper before dealer markups. Then a 718 and a M2 get thrown into the mix, and the 400Z Nismo becomes less competitive and more of "Hey, we fixed most of our mistakes, can we have a consolation prize?"

Only way to happen is for them to make that leap they did in the early 2000's again. That's giving their engineers a huge budget to create an amazing chassis (that will have to last the next 25 years). Just look at how much money went into the C8 chassis and look at just how much that car is creating havoc with everything else on the market. Nissan simply isn't going to do that until they're ready to throw everything into EV and toss the FM platform.

@@7Roxer So much of it was Nissan's relationship with Renault. That's supposedly now recently reformulated to Nissan's favor giving them back control of their own future. Will have to see what they do with it but from a monetary standpoint I don't think Nissan will change course until they toss the PM and FM chassis for a new one designed around EV battery storage and hybrid tech. So maybe in 4-8 years... though the PM Skyline doesn't currently pass crash testing and was grandfathered in so maybe they'll think about doing that one earlier but... that's if Nissan thinks it's worth even having a halo car going forward.

@@MCHellshit If you have ever driven the M2 and RS3 you would never associate those two with words like "sucks" or "boring". What's more, the M2 (and Supra) come with a MANUAL. The Z has more power than the Cayman but that's the only advantage it has over it. Look at a drag race between the regular Z and Cayman, the Z gets absolutely destroyed from the start and 15 more hp ain't gonna change that. Apparently a lot of people care about Mercedes. You are not a car person if you don't love a practical hatchback with over 400hp.

Manual Nismo is needed IMO. As a 10 year 370z owner, I don't care about lap times, if I'm spending this much money on an enthusiast 2 door Nissan, I want a manual. Nissan made this big deal in the normal Z of "Oh it's got a manual because that's what the enthusiasts want!", but now for the Nismo, the halo trim that everyone wants to afford, Nissan says "the enthusiasts want laptimes". The coherence isn't there. Is the auto the faster lapping car? Sure, offer them both. Claim that the auto is super fast and the manual is terrible and slow, that's fine. But sell it in the manual. The Supra didn't have a manual and the Z came out with one and Toyota goes "okay I guess we have to do that". And then Nissan goes and backpedals on the halo trim and only goes auto.

Exactly. I'd rather they de-rate the power back to manual-safe levels, and keep all the other Nismo bits. Like, I get they wanted to pretend they're doing the gt3 thing, but then give us a damn touring spec. Where did marketing, accounting, and engineering get their wires crossed? This isn't a Murano crosscab ffs, if it can only be one transmission, it should be manual-only. Let's be honest, they're not setting lap records with a twenty-year-old platform. Know your target market, Nissan. 🙄

The Q60 Red Sport and IS500 are totally different cars than the Z (and from each other). I'd say if you want a real two-door sports car at this price point get the Supra (the 45th Anniversary is real nice for the same price), the Cayman (which is only $3k more than the Z Nismo), or the Lexus RC F (if you have to have the J VIN). If you're leaning towards a Japanese sports sedan, I'd say IS500 but consider the Acura TLX Type S as well.

As the owner of regular Z with auto I would definitely appreciate faster shift times. Current one are so slow that when upshifting at 5k, the gear still bounces as it’s not fast enough to change by the time it hits 7k. Pretty disappointing

65k seems like quite a reach... You can buy lot of better cars a couple years used for this kind of money. Also I've never seen one of these on the road.. Far too many interior carry over bits from my 370z... I'm holding my 370z forever

@@tonyc6996the Z is a blast of a car, the Z Nismo is even better. It’s a pricey car, yes, but it’ll give you a great experience once you step on the pedal. Another car being “better” means nothing to me when this car is still fast af, it’s fairly reliable and drives and looks amazing. This car offers similar performance than its competitors, so I honestly couldn’t care less if there’s another car 0.4 seconds faster 0-60mph. I’m not a professional race driver nor I aspire to be one, so I don’t care if another car is a few tens of a seconds faster or 2 seconds faster on a lap.

Alcantara is not nearly that bad. I have had it in multiple cars in the past and 2 currently (22BRZ and 18 SHO). All it takes is a little upholstery cleaner. I usually clean mine maybe once every 2 years and it keeps it looking new. If yours is scuzzy..... CLEAN IT.

It's basically the opposite of the S650 Mustang and A90 Supra. If this had the ZF 8-speed or a DCT, it would be much better than the 9-speed.

Honestly as a former nismo 370z owner I think it was a disgrace for Nissan not making the new nismo with an optional manual. The BS excuse of the added tq the manual wouldn’t sustain or hold up???? Come on now it’s barely any more power and the standard z is already making huge power with the manual transmission with no problems. Look at the Supra for example, I complained about not having a manual for that vehicle when they already had manual b58s in many cars and to not have it from launch was annoying, with that said Toyota designed a whole new manual for the Supra which was very much welcomed. I’m not asking Nissan to do that but they could use the manual from the non nismo , so until they offer a manual this will be a hard pass.

What a great episode. BUT I wanna know why Nissan is spacing out their trim levels by $10k+ the way I'm spacing out sentences. Base Z at $40k seemed steep to me, but it set the ground work for the car to be considered "reasonably priced." Then came the Performance pack for TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT MORE MONEY. I think a Performance Z is only maybe worth $50k to the right person when a manual Supra is $53k. Used Supras can be had for less (and actually exist on the used market to any noticeable degree), so I for sure don't think this new Nismo Z is worth $65k when a Mustang Dark Horse is $59k and an M2 is $62k. Just my two cents, @Nissan.
