DIY Smart Home Guy creates how-to videos for smart home automation centered around Z-Wave and Zigbee devices. Review videos are generally centered around Hubitat Elevation, SmartThings and Vera. I personally run Hubitat as my primary smart hub, however I do test products on the hubs mentioned. I understand that a home automation hub is not a path for everyone. I chose this path because I am a firm believer is advanced automation and local control.

I'm so disappointed in this hub I was so excited when I got it yesterday and it kind of sucks You can't change any of the settings on the Aqara matter over thread devices which I was really looking forward to seeing what the settings could be changed to, but you can't and then the matter devices won't stay connected to the hub at all, yesterday I had to reconnect the P2 door sensor and the motion sensor like six time because it kept losing connection. So I don't know how your aqara matter devices are staying connected but mine aren't I just decided to just disconnect them from m3 hub put them back into smart things cuz I got tired of reconnecting them and also you can't change any of the settings to the aqara matter devices so i really don't know why you said you can when you cant?

Thank you for sharing that. I only have two Aqara thread devices and I haven’t had any connection issues with them and the M3 hub. Are you connecting the matter devices via HomeKit or directly to the hub? Third party matter devices have been more of a struggle. There are a lot of things Aqara says will be coming to the hub, like added device functionality, that are not there yet. We’ll just have to wait and see if they come to fruition.

If you have a Homey Pro 2023 would getting an M3 be of any value?

It kind of depends. The homey pro connects with most Aqara zigbee devices directly. However, if you had the M3 hub you could connect those device to the homey pro via matter and also connect them to, say, SmartThings, if you’re into that sort of thing. Is that ability to connect Aqara zigbee devices to multiple hubs simultaneously worth the cost of the hub? That is up to you.

Good video. I have the M3 hub as well. Im trying to add the P2 Door and Window sensor to my M3 Hub and I canno't do it idk why. Did u have any difficulty to connect the P2 to the M3?

I had no trouble. Was your p2 previous joined to a different hub? If so, you’ll need to get the join code from that hub, otherwise perform a factory reset to join it directly to the m3

or me all Aqara child devices works only with Apple Home Kit. Both Smartthings and Google Home works only with Aqara Door sensor, Temp sensor and Plug EU. Wall Light switches, leak sensor doesn't work. And I used all Aqara HUBs - no progress :(

So it is three times the price and does nothing the M2 doesn’t do? Got it.

Have you tried adding the M3 Hub to Homey or Hubitat and do the non-matter devices on the M3 show up (assuming you have any) ?

Yes, you can bridge it into Homey Pro via matter. It does not bridge to Hubitat (yet). The zigbee devices you have connected to the M3 will bridge into the Homey, but wifi devices like the FP2 will not.

Can this be logged into from the internet or does it need homekit or home assistant?

The m3 is accessed via the Aqara app on your phone

@@DIYSmartHomeGuy1 Thanks, I only want to setup for door sensor alarm and login from remote location. Funny the info is nowhere on this. So I can use m3 hub and sensors only and no google or homekit? Thanks

Can m3 hub bridge FP2 to smartthings and homey pro?
@DIYSmartHomeGuy1

Yes and yes. Only aqara zigbee devices will bridge over, however. Not wifi devices like the FP2.
