we have had are old renault grand scenic since 2012 never let us down but this is really tempting me to upgrade absolutely love the looks and features of this new scenic. and as we no longer need the 7 seater this looks a good upgrade
Thank you for a great review. I like this Renault which is something I thought I would never say!!! I own a 23 plate Lexus and the safety features are the biggest pain in the bottom!!! I am that sick to death of turning them off I am thinking of changing my car.. I might even buy an older one to get away from them all!! Glad they have gone for a one button off option.. All these safety features are completely unnecessary! My insurance went up even though I have all the stupid safety features! I may give this car a test drive.. I have avoided electric cars due to the limited mileage and wasted time waiting for it to charge… I’m still not convinced that I will own an electric car, Hybrid is best for me.
I have and love my Megan E Tec but would swap with the scenic in a heartbeat Looks like an extended and improved gear selector and different looking charging mat than mine Great review as always Tish
The Senic is everything I was hoping for with the Megane. Sadly the Megane, in the flesh, was just too small. This is perfect... bigger but not too big.
After two test drives, I’ve noticed that an important issue is consistently missing from your reviews - the poor quality of the rear camera. It’s a crucial feature for many drivers, yet it seems to be overlooked. Why is this never addressed?
I just got the scenic alpine version in white. Only downside is the 7.9 secs, but im not a kid anymore so that doesnt intice me anymore. Hope i picked the right colour 😆
Thanks Tish. Another good review. Certainly attractive; but how quiet in the cabin and for comfort would you rate it above Sportage, CX5 and Xc40?… just wondering if this is when I should make the jump to electric.l as need to change the car this year really…
Hard to tell with this riding on such big wheels but the 'quietness' is not this cars strong point, it is a GREAT car but there are slightly quieter out there. Sounds like you need a test drive!
Great video, very enjoyable to watch and informative. I love this car, my mother in law has thr Austral E which is equally nice. Renaults styling at the moment is 👌 i just wish it had a larger braked towing capacity to pull our caravan. Hopefully Renault rectify this in upcoming versions/models.
Glad you enjoyed it! That is a VERY good point, Renault seem to be very forthcoming with appealing to the mass market, so I’m sure they’ll release something soon.
Was the car shown with the European plates in Matte shadow grey and the UK number plate in metallic? Iv ordered the matte version and hoping it doesn’t look like the one with the UK plates
@@johnbanksreviews I think the one shown briefly with the European plates was matte though but the British one was metallic. Mine is coming in and around 1st September so can get it on the new 74 plate 😊
Enjoyed this but like all other reviews nobody has took it out for a normal drive lets say Bristol to Ipswich n see what's proper usage like as in battery
@johnbanksreviews not right for anyone? Bad take for an impartial reviewer.... 1) no waiting for pumps in the morning while Doris buys her packed lunch and gets a coffee 2) 47p per mile tax allowance same as ICE yet costs 7p for 20miles (based on winter use)
(This is Tish) I have tested both and genuinely I think this is miles better. Better value for money, better infotainment system, bigger inside, better looking and nicer materials. The Explorer may just be a touch better to drive.
Very good BUT...no figure for the boot's size & what is the "spare wheel"? A "Skinny Mini" or a "goo & HOPEFULLY go" kit in my V6 VW Golf which split the wall of a drive wheel tyre MERDE. 😤😡
Another review wiith mixed up units. KW is a unit of power; the output from the motor, kWh is a unit of energy; the capacity of energy stored in the battery. Power = energy rover time.
It's so funny to me that all reviewers say that you can so easily turn off the safety features as a positive thing. It's just so weird "oh yeah, you can drive unsafely this easily!" But thank you for the comprehensive look into this car. It's on my shortlist for new cars.
I agree; that’s why I put an emphasis on how they’re there to keep us safe however, some people hate them so much they’re a deal breaker to them. I think the most ‘irritating’ one is when you drift over 30-31 you get the spear warning. Personally I left everything on and nothing was too intrusive.
Well, some of the safety features are just intrusive and not convenient in a all-day use of the car. It's great that the car detects that you're falling asleep on the motorway and is able to keep you on track, but having the feeling that someone grabs the wheel each time you step on a line in an urban area is neither safe nor comfortable.
Agreed but some of the safety features don't necessarily perform as you might expect ... when I had an MG4 it intentionally steered me into the middle of the road (and oncoming traffic) when the road ahead was narrowing. It was essential to turn it off for every trip. If that is several levels deep in the UI then that is a deal breaker. Hence ease of disablement is high on my list.
Safety features are advisory in nature. A lot of drivers are very attentive and responsible. They have no need for safety features like attention monitors similar features. Other features like presdestrian monitors and emergency breaking are essential. I don't think anyone has complained about those. We are humans ergo individuals. Some of us want a little more control of what we do. The next thing we will be saying is why don't we watch state controlled media and obey everything they tell us
£45k for a family car, how is that world car of the year. Thats Tesla car money. Dacia spring £15k I can see that getting some way towards car of the year. EV9 I can see winning it. but what exactly does Renault bring to the table to win this prize, from what this RU-vid review shows, Nothing 0 to 60 = slow to standard. price = too much the list goes on and on. the term "I cant see it been a problem" well that just equals "Renault did not think about this problem at all". so as far as I can see from this review, sound more like the 102 independent jornalists for world car of the year were given a better lunch by renault than by Tesla, Kia, MG, Hyundi, Nissan etc...... personally paying £45k for a £30k car is a bit of an insult. This is just my own opinion yours could be different to mine.
Not that it changes your points but this actually won European car of the year and not world car of the year. However I understand people are always going to have differing opinions about cars and what works for them. For me, I think this car looks wonderful, it's very well styled and I love the thoughtful interior touches that its rivals certainly do not have. The range is very impressive and this has been proven to be a reliable prediction, this ultimately is where the slightly higher price tag comes in. It is as fast as it needs to be, it doesn't claim to be a performance EV and I would be shocked if the average person needed anything quicker. (Very valid that people want a fast EV but then there is many of them out there.) Charging is a fair fact however, the fact it comes with a higher AC as standard is a HUGE bonus as that really is where 99% of people do their charging. Actually finding a 100kW charger isn't easy. Like I said, you're entitled to thinking another car would work better for your needs but I personally think the Scenic hits the nail on the head in all areas.
I'm buying one so I closely studied the mileage tests made by youtubers and magazines. Expect a solid 300kms/190 miles for a 80-10% at 70mph. In a pure urban environment, expect even better results than the WLTP (more than 600kms from full to 0). Anyway, the car autonomy should outclass your bladder's.
Just another damn electric SUV. Awful things - all of them. Heavy, boxy, expensive and soooo boring now. Sadly only EVs will ever be voted 'car of the year' now because all the motoring journo's have to follow the 'narrative'. Very sad times.
Ugly front grill and i hate the black and silver rims everyone seems to be using these days for some reason Tish. The main dislike though is its electric.
If you don’t like this grill, then you have no taste, my friend! One of the best good looking models, especially compared to the latest BMW's and Mercedes.
Don't like electric? Fair enough for you. For me it's the only way to fly now. £20 to give me the same range as a £120 diesel fill and no LEZ fines to worry about.
