I have a 2 year old and a 5 month old and we are currently experiencing both of them teething. And it is no fun. Plus, my toddler is waking up at night and staying up for God knows what reason and of course that means waking up the youngest; but you know what? I wouldnt have it differently.

I feel like the small age gap was definitely the hardest early on, but with each month it gets easier and easier.

My mom had 9 of us, mostly back to back -- all but one sibling gap is less than 18 months -- and let me tell you, it's hard, but it's SO doable! What people don't realize is that, while it's hard in the first year when they're too little to do anything, as soon as they get old enough to help around the house, you don't HAVE to do everything yourself. As more kids kept coming, each of us older kids took on different (age-appropriate) responsibilities and chores. If you have multiple kids back to back, you're NOT going to have to take care of all of them AND everything in the house for long. They can help! And it's good for them to! And it's not just about chores; they occupy each other too. We all played with each other throughout our childhoods, and we're SO close-knit now as adults and teenagers.

I had two under two. The biggest con for me was how hard it was on my body. My second pregnancy just wrecked me and it was so difficult caring for a baby during the third trimester. I have never, ever been so deeply exhausted. I also dealt with some pretty serious pelvic floor issues and I wonder if those might have been avoided if I had given myself longer to "bounce back" from the first pregnancy and birth. Luckily, all of that is/was temporary--and I've seen a great physical therapist. The age gap itself has been wonderful. Love how close my babies are. I am already dreaming of a third, but feel like I should give my body a little more time to fully recover.

We had 3 under 3 and in a few months we’ll have 4 under 4! We love it! It’s definitely hard at times, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad! They are the biggest blessings ever and bring us so much joy. My best advice is to create routines and schedule cleaning/cooking into them, or it won’t happen! You create the normal, so teach your kids what you want normal to look like early. It is so fun having close age gaps! (We have a 12 month gap and two 17 month gaps)

I think the only reason I wouldn't have 2 under 2 is I'd like to replenish the nutrients in my body and give my cesarean scar the recommended 2 years to heal. I love the idea of not gaining back freedom and then losing it again. Once you gain more freedom back it will be more long term.

Going to a physical therapist and massage therapist to work on your abdominal wall and eliminate excess buildup of scar tissue will speed up the process of healing- doctors like to pretend that massage therapy doesn't exist when in fact it predates them.

We had two 21 months apart and it has been challenging and amazing, depending on the hour! Personally, I wouldn’t do it again next time (if we have a third we want a 3ish year gap), but I definitely am glad we did it between 1 and 2. I mostly feel like physically I need a longer break this time.

Loved hearing your perspective! I accidentally had a 4 year gap between my first and second due to secondary infertility and I deal with a lot of these cons too even with such a large gap! I’m so ready to be done with the baby stage so I’m hoping to get to experience the 2 under 2 gap for this next time! 😆

I feel like the cons you mentioned are very general.. Even with a bigger agegap you'll probably have to deal with that. I was sick for 9 months with my first and I'm kind of scared, that it will happen again.. but again, no agegap will be "perfect" for a 9 month-sickness. But I want to give my body time to heal, do the gymnastics (in switzerland it's recommended to take 10 lessons special physical-gymnastics for recovering after fiving birth, so you can get your body ready for more pregnancies/ back to a good health) and prepare some routins that will be beneficial if I'm sick again. And maybe my body will allow to be pregnant again after some months.. and maybe not.. that's okay too, god has better plans for us than we have for our own :)

My first 2 are under 2. I loved it but I did feel guilty toward my first for not giving him enough one on one time. He’s never known anything different and never experienced sibling jealousy. I had exactly 2 years between my 2nd and 3rd and that was harder to me.. we definitely had some moments.. now baby 3 and 4 will be the same under 2 age gap as my first 2. It depends on your childrens personalities and what your family dynamic looks like if you will love it or hate it. I personally love it. Hoping for a second set of 2 under 2 buddies. I will soon have 4 children, age 5 and under. I hope they remain close and grow up together with a wonderful bond. They all share toys, books and like the same movies and there’s always someone to play with!

Late to the channel, but my boys are 15 months apart, and we just had our baby girl 6 days after our oldest turned 3 😅 Our challenges during that adjustment to 2 under 2 was a sudden forced and unplanned move to a smaller apartment while my husband was (and still is) in school. Personal care time, mental health, and space were and still are the hardest things to adjust too, especially now that we've added our third baby in the same small apartment.

I think it's so interesting to hear how 2 under 18 months is different than an older 1 year old 2 under 2. Because I had 2 under 2 (and am about to have 3 under 2) and I definitely didn't experience things quite the same way (example: I did indeed forget some things about newborn life 😂). Fifteen months is actually the age gap we were aiming for between our first two, but the Lord had different plans. The developmental stuff is also a lot different with just that extra four months apart, but I'm still amazed at what my second has picked up just from wanting to be just like her brother. Also, thank you for your note at the end of the pros about making your own decisions and not blindly following guidelines. I really appreciate that. I definitely recommend two under two (hence the fact that we tried for it again, because for us all three of these pregnancies were planned and my husband even specifically prayed for twins, so the 3 under 2 was kind of planned haha). I love how positive this video is!

Having 2 under 2 is both a beautiful and fun adventure as well as a tough one. My first experience wasnt from my own chidren, but my younger siblings as they are twins and we have a near 10 year age gap. It truky is a unqiue experience of 2 under 2

Our boys are 19 and 2 months at the moment, I find it very hard because we live in an apartment in a big city…it took us a year to get pregnant with our first one so for the second baby we thought let’s see what happens and I got pregnant just like that, without planing fertility days etc, one time and…voila! 😅so I suppose…it was meant to be 🥰 I’m sure everything is going to get easier and can’t wait for my two boys to play together!

The body doesn’t even get to heal when you’re getting pregnant shortly after and it is deprived of minerals and nutrients. More women should highly consider this.
@heycharise
@heycharise 2 месяца назад
It's been done throughout all of history. If you're like me and entered your first pregnancy the healthiest you've ever been, and delivered a healthy baby with no surgery, you and your second baby will do great. Plan your own family! Leave the rest. Are you not aware life isn't guaranteed? Fertility isn't guaranteed? No part of conceiving, to delivering, to trajectory of said life is guaranteed. It is actually a gift to be able to do this- ask anyone who has highly considered and planned for this dynamic between their children, and didn't get the outcome they wanted.
@novelbytheglass
@novelbytheglass 2 месяца назад
@@heycharise Just because something has been done throughout history, doesn't make it right. I did not say anything more than... women should consider the facts that this is very depleting- THAT IS ALL. To each their own and that is great that you turned out fine but facts are still facts and having babies so soon after another is still hard on the body and more women should just consider that before deciding what they want to do. Again, that is all I said and nothing more. Ultimately, we all do what we want. Take care!

I would also totally recommend BetterHelp! Love the remote option as a sahm🩷 I also really appreciate you noting that closeness in age doesn’t guarantee closeness in relationship! My sister & I are 11 months apart and we could not be more opposite (personality, temperament, etc.) 😅 Our age gap always seemed to cause big power struggles between us too especially during adolescence. I also never felt like I had that “built in best friend” that people talk about either because of how different we were/are. My experience growing up has made me want to space our kids further apart because I personally didn’t like it🙈 Every family will know what’s right for them though. I appreciate you sharing this since it totally can be true!!
