You don't have to be a Christian to know the faith has changed considerably throughout two thousand years of schisms and papal councils. Just look at the gnostic texts and all the passages that never made it into the bible.

What about William Wilberforce who was a politician. One of the most inspiring Christian's who prayed and lobbied for 30 years to get slavery abolished. At the beginning they laughed at him and told him it would never happen. Amy Charmichael, Gladys Attwood to name just a few more warriors for social justice. My Dad called it faith in action.

Well said Karen. To my recollection Jesus didn't get involved in political discussions. "Governments should do this" or "society should do that". He was concerned with the individual, the saving of one's soul. Government is of little consequence in the eternity of the kingdom of God. I remember Occupy Wall Street, people were saying that Jesus would have been with them at the forefront. No he bloody wouldn't. The closest he got was throwing a wobbly at the traders in the temple. But even this is misinterpreted. He wasn't angry at the concept of trading and money lending, it was the misuse of the temple, which was a place of worship, not commerce. And I say this as a non believer, it just amuses me how so many want to bash Christianity but want to co-opt Jesus to their cause, whatever that may be. Because however much they bash Christianity, they still recognize the value of convincing people that Jesus would have been on their side.

That was the law of the land, and he did not involve himself, the priests brought the woman to him in a public arena to force a test on him. He handled it pretty brilliantly, and in the way he did it, he demonstrated our need for God's grace and his authority to give it. Not to change the laws of the priests, but to enforce his own will and change the way people view the law laid down at Mount Sinai and excessively legislated by the Pharisees, who dragged the woman into the crowd as a trick to appeal to mob justice.

He would also be totally in favour of bumping up the renewable electricity figures by including biomass which involves cutting down millions of trees which will take around 100 years to regrow. Jesus said. a. Some eunuchs were born like that. b. Some eunuchs were made that way by men. c. Some eunuchs cas.trated themselves, for the Kingdom of Heaven’s sake. Quite clearly, category c. were involved in some religious ceremony. And we know that from history, this is what the Gali-Galileans did. So the Church of Jesus and James were linked to the Church of Kybele and Attis. There is no encouragement of this anywhere and the rest of the passage is about how important marriage is.
