If you got another Ducati I would like to see you on the Desert Sled. At this point the only thing that would hold me back is my budget. And the fact I don’t have a dealer anywhere near me. Great video Jake ✌️
We had a black 22 Ducati Monster in the bike shop I work at once and I remember having to do a double take of the side profile of the bike to check if it wasn't the 2022 facelifted mt-07. I liked the look of it but I just feel it's not quite as striking "ducati" looking as the monsters of the past.
Here's why I wouldn't own one. You're right that most bikes are similar in terms of reliability and that differences in reliability can be ignored for some. However this doesn't change the fact that every aftermarket part manufacturer charges a premium for brands like Ducati and BMW. Very simple example: check out how much it costs for a pit bull front stand pin. Compare R6 vs. S1000RR or Panigale 899. $17 for an R6. $45 for a Panigale 899. And this is on literally the simplest item. Now do the math for exhaust or any other mod you will want to do. All in all, I won't buy a Ducati because I'm not trying to pay $45 for a $17 item (let's face it, it costs less than $2 to make).
Was def a bike I considered for a while, have owned 3 Ducati bikes in the past... 1098 Streetfighter S, Sport Classic Biposto, Monster M750, didn't like the Streetfighter handling, didn't like the reach to the bars on the Sport Classic and didn't like the flippy uppy sidestand on the M750.... but all were super reliable even the M750 which I massively abused. Is great to see the servicing has become more reasonable now... although it is those miles or annually whichever comes first... so for most Ducati owners, the higher miles between minor servicing is irrelevant as they'll probs only ride 2000 miles a year tops. I love Italian bikes though, currently own 3... my Beta enduro, Aprilia Tuareg and my Moto Guzzi V7 custom cafe racer. They all make me smile, and all have been reliable so far (had the Moto Guzzi 10 years now). The main thing that put me off the new Monster, is it isn't really a Ducati Monster anymore, it now looks like every other naked bike pretty much, would have been nice if they had kept some of the things that made a Monster look like a Monster... but time moves on, and they need a newer younger person to sell bikes to, I imagine this will appeal to them. Be ace to see you on a Streetfighter V2 if they'll let you borrow more! 🙂
A few years ago now I owned a Ducati 848 and I adored that bike. I spent a lot on servicing and maintenance, and had minor issues regularly to deal with but I still heavily enjoyed the pace and the noise. It really is an experience. Now I'm looking at buying an older monster, servicing requirements or not. There truly is something about them
I would definitely buy one, The Hyper 950 is literally 10/10 on every single aspect for me except for sound .. I give it a 2/10. Sound is by far the most important thing ever to me unfortunately.. I think it would be a Scrambler Desert Sled if they still make those. I wonder if the 939 Monster makes the same bland sound as the 950 engines..
I have ridden a 900ss for a long time, it has been a reliable bike but they are high maintenance. Good to know how to work on them yourself. Ride safe dude
Good deals to be had on lightly used Ducs... Former owner of a Hypermotard 1100 Evo SP Corse... Amazing bike... Only sold because I moved overseas and couldn't take it.
Honda’s requires 4000 mile service intervals. Ducati is twice that. With all the electronics/limp mode, etc., very rare to be found on the side of the road with issues with all newer bikes. Just like cars now, service intervals require software uptakes not just oil changes. Dealerships need to be supported as competition keeps prices lower.
Any day of the week!! It’s the bike we want IN ADDITION TO our Harley! The only drawback is that it can’t be sized down for me, whereas at least a Sportster can. Yeah - I’m REALLY short/small!! (Yeah, I’m an adult!) No other bikes in the running though - Ducati or Harley, that’s it!!
It's not all German engineered. Audi brings production efficiency to the table and it wants access to Ducati's lightweight technology's, developed by Ducati engineers.
It would be awesome if you could arrange with them to provide you with a longtime scrambler to do kind of an adventure transformation as you did with the FZ.
People must remember that premium bikes have premium prices. Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha build millions of bikes/year so aftermarket and oem parts reasonable. Ducati sells around 60,000 bikes/year, Harley and BMW around 200,000 bikes/year. BMW auto helps out Bmw motorrad. There is a price to exclusivity and some cases cutting edge tech. After all europe has toughest emission states that the world follows. With more motorcycles required to offer OBD 2, more software available to watch over bike during its whole life vs just 12,000 miles. Just like car engines with VVT, hybrid, forced induction, and Full EV that will appear on bikes soon with euro 6 approaching. Cars already euro 6
Friend of mine was moving and gave me his ST2. The thing is fun to ride but literally if it sits for more than a day it drains the battery. I gotta sell the thing just to keep myself from dumping money into it.
No!!!! I just bought my fourth Aprilia Tuono. Order of acquisition is '21 V4 1100RR then '04 Gen1 V2 1000R & '08 Gen2 V2 1000RR and this week a '14 V4R APRC 1000.
@@TheGardenSnake I've done Japanse sports bikes in my early years then 3x KTM's full on Orange clan fan till the last one spat me off 8 months ago. Now I prefer Italians with the stability engineered in.
I would. Recently test rode a 950 Multistrada and it was a great bike. For the year of it it was missing some tech bits but it was brilliant to ride. Dunno would I buy one of the mad fast ones, even if I could afford them, cus yano. Jail.
Given the option between the MT09SP, not the regular MT09, and the Monster 937 I would go with the Yamaha because you're getting more bang for your buck. The cruise control option alone would be worth it to me.
Wait wait wait you like the mt09 headlight?? 😂 I HATE all 09 headlights sooooo much. They all look broken or like they have too many chromosomes. But i also love my LP9 pro on my fz07. Looks insane but to me it’s perfect. Also puts out 11,000 lumens so that’s fun 😎
I just got the notification for this video as I walked out of the bank. Just pulled out some cash to buy a Ducati 796 monster tomorrow 😂 is this a sign that maybe I should rethink things?
@@TheGardenSnake Yeh, I’m definitely too far into it, and have already agreed on the price. But I fell in love with the bike during a test drive. Just felt perfect. Also I plan on working on it myself, so… shit, a bit of extra wrench time I suppose means extra practice. I’m alright with that. :)
@@oHeihei 796 is arguably the best Monster regarding sound, styling and reliability. I once had a conversation about someone who had 80.000km’s on his riding in the Maroccan heat, and I mean really in the city traffic. It never missed a beat.
@@mooiboyace Yeh, as I've been doing research on it, it seems like they're tanks almost. Gotta keep up on the maintenance, and treat it right so it can treat you right. But that's not an issue. Maintenance seems easy enough. The looks, sound, feel, everything about the bike is amazing. Previous bike was an FZ07 so kinda feels like a spicy FZ, which is exactly what I'm looking for. And the bike only has 13K on it, so not too many miles. Just bought it today, gotta do some registration paperwork so I can pick it up tomorrow or monday. I joke about maintinence, and ducati ownership, but I really am excited for this experience! Maybe some Italian nerves because I also recently bought a Fiat 500 Abarth, and it's already costing me some cash in things breaking haha. But at least it's a bike and they're much easier to work on. :D
I had a xDiavel S but I also bought the maintenance package because I knew Ducati expensive to maintain. Unfortunately, had to sell it after house fire.
This vs. the MT-09? Well, do you fancy a wailing shrieking triple or do you like a barking twin? They both have endearing engines. I think I like the triple more. I know it's durable as people have put turbo kits on them and beat the living snot out of them and they hold up. Not sure that means anything for Ducati or Yamaha in an honest comparison for the real world. The 21+ Yamaha has fixed the chassis and suspension imbalance issues. It's night and day different. I'd prefer the new XSR over the MT.
Wait a hold it, I had covid about weeks ago, one of the few people with a lung disease that had covid and it wasn't to bad, just a little inflammation in the lungs that some steroids took care of.
See if you can get a Desertx, they seem legit and I've always wanted a Monster but I couldn't wait for it to come out and I bought a KTM Super Adv instead.
I got my first KTM a few months ago the 790 Duke and already had to replace to OEM coolant hoses with Samco racing hoses because they're known for leaking. Even on the newer 890 series they still haven't fixed the issue. It's such a shame really because they have so much character and a great engine note.
