Would You Ride India’s WORST Sleeper Train? 

The train in the thumbnail doesn't even exist in reality, wow!!

I've been 9 times to India! I've taken 2 dozen nighttrain up to 30 hours like Calcutta to Jammu, but I've almost never seen 2 sleeping on a berth! For sure, never foreigners! Naturally, you hate traveling in India!

It always amaze me how these people specifically come to India to show how poor it is, while he could have purchased a decent or luxury train( vande bharat etc) train which are very good to travel to, but instead he chose the cheapest and oldest train which the most poor people of India travel in, and still in it he didn't purchased 1st class ticket,

this is third AC not second AC

You could have exchanged seats with somebody, very common on Indian trains, or maybe you could’ve stayed with kat and send the other couple to the next cart. Honestly you made it difficult for your own self.

Yes! Did a few train journeys just over a month ago as I travelled around India, a 70 year old woman, on my own for a month. At least they've got toilets, unlike the 17 hour journeys I did on the bus. But were there Western style toilets opposite the Asian ones, normally situated at the end of each carriage? To be honest, I preferred the hole in the floor ones; they were, in general, cleaner! And in so many cases, the Western toilets had shoe footprints on the seat because the locals would climb up on them and squat from on top 🫣

Vloggers who compain alot are more honest and realistic and better to watch then the fake fantasy vloggers anyday

Hello Ben! I am an Israeli guy who had backpacked around India in 2015, 2018 and 2022 covering the entire country. I just want to say one thing to you guys: If you showing India through your videos please try to visit all the parts atleast once. Look what I know of India is it has many shortcomings but overall the country is just amazing with such an insane diversity in its geography. The regions of India vary to such an extent with Snow capped ethereal mountains aka the himalayas in the North, vast desert in Northwest, amazing plateaus in the Central region, beautiful sea coasts and tropical backwaters in the far south and mangrove forests in the east. Apart from the geography, India has such a wide variety of wildlife species many of them endangered like Royal Bengal Tigers, Rhinos, Red Panda, Snow Leopard,etc. The country has literally hundreds of different ethnic groups with languages, cultures widely different from each other for example a person of Kashmir looks completely different to a person from Kerala and both of them are again different from a Northeast Indian. Now there are many here who will take an oppurtunity to bash and stereotype India even if you have admired India mostly in the video. So that is not fair. Therefore I have an earnest request to you to please visit Northwest India ( Kashmir- Gulmarg, Pehelgam, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh- Manali, Shimla, Dharamsala, Rishikesh) Northeast India ( Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland) Kerala, Goa, Hampi, Ellora, Madurai, Oooty, Munnar, Doodhsagar. I gurantee you guys Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh as beautiful as China. Kashmir is as wonderful as Eastern Europe with its mountains. Ladakh will seem as some other wordly place. Look I am just recommending this places to you because these are the true gems which are unexplored by many tourists. They fail to get their true rewards of visting India and gets the worst aka the Golden Triangle of Delhi, Varanasi and Agra which is literally shit. The true diversity and beauty of India lies in its remote regions. There are numerous forests and wildlife reserves with a vast array of exotic species. Moreover sadly you visited Hyderabad just because it is famous, you missed the city of Vizag which is near to Hyderabad and completely resembles a western European city in cleanliness, roads and infrastructure+ it is near the sea coast. Greetings!!!

If two sleep on a bed that one is suppose to sleep on, of course it’ll be uncomfortable. I feel bad for the family sharing the compartment with you guys, having to deal with the overcrowding you’re causing.

Seriously why do you guys do this to yourself 🤣 there are so many laid back, beautiful and cheap areas in India, for instance in Karnataka and Maharashtra, close to where you were. Spending some more time on each location won’t cost that much more, and allows you to charge your batteries in between train/bus rides (and actually enjoy your stay in India.) This is just brutal! 😅 Plus - I think your travel vlogger profile and viewer numbers would actually benefit from more diverse content (like staying in beautiful villages and interesting places), rather than just brutal trips.

They have luxury private room on train as far as i know..So guys should have booked that one i mean if you want to find luxury on journey you need to spend more quid 💷you guys always look for the cheap ticket and find luxury on journey absolutely make no sense 😅

it's all relative, I suppose. As said, rode the 30 hrs 2nd class sleeper from Amritsar to Mumbai way back in 2009; enjoyed the challenge, free meals being constantly bought for me by smiling incredibly friendly Indian passengers; loads of crazy banter and the like. I was however travelling alone; and had come through Indonesia on a shoe string...After travelling from Surabaya to Jakarta on a 32 hour slow, very slow and times pedestrain; no ac; 3rd class ticket, constant cloud of smoke and people just staring at me throughout; wooden seats packed like sardines, with zero chance of sleep; the 2nd Class sleeper was luxury!!! :)

I took a 30 hour sleeper from Amritsar to Mumbai; yes it was intense; no I didn't sleep much but when travelling alone; you get into great and mad conversations; personally I loved it, as gruelling as it was. Say what you want about India; it sorts the travellers from the tourists.

Mates it's fantastic in Indian trains but you should have opted for a First class AC coach which is super levish for you guys.

I took the 3 days train (70 hours) from Delhi to Trivandrum (deep south), non airco second class. Enjoyed it, no problems. Took the topbed ( so you can lay down during the daytime if u like) stand in the open door watching small village life. it was in 1987. Still a good memory.

Great vid brings back memories I'm 46 now and want to go back to India. Next vid try 30 hours on a 3rd class none sleeper.

This is Bravery , I doubt anyone from the posh side of Europe , West Europe, Scandinavia could ever handle a backpack trip like this.

Squat toilets are the best, you dont have to touch anything when you sit and your body is designed to plop more at 45 degree 😅

Few minutes of planning and a little bit of information from locals would save everything but you won't get to show the worst india titles that gets attention and views which most youtubers come here for. It's not like you can't afford but still choose the cheap options and then cry about it. I know there is so much to improve in India but most people showing the same thing to gain views is not good.

You westerners take expensive trains in Europe and say what a beautiful train service they have but in India, you take cheapest trains which are for poor Indians and expect similar services from them. Why? Did you consider how much you have paid for this train for which you expect similar luxury service? Is this intentional to portray India poorly? Why don't you take premier trains in India?

Why does it look like you were trying to get into trouble? Even the hotel at the end for 60-70 looks like 20 pound hotel at max. You've got 10 different websites including Airbnb and Booking to look at before booking and this is what you book? You said it was 2nd class sleeper train though it clearly was 3rd class compartment. Either you are not even trying to get things better or you suck at travelling.

By Indian railway standard, it was a decent. The trains that run through poor state like Bihar gets so crowded that you literally have to step on the bunks to get to the washroom. Ben has shown as is, not photoshopped. One has to keep in mind the pricepoint £25. If you take the 6 days Maharajah Express train in Rajasthan you pay £5030 / USD 6400. You get what you pay. Those who are too touchy about raw footage, go watch something else.

This is the third AC coach mate, you should have opted for the first AC or Second AC coach which is more specious and less crowded. Yes toilets are bad for long journeys.

I don't work like this. You need to do book train atleast 10 days before to have better train. If you are doing booking on station then FORGET you will get any facility. plan atleast 10 days ago and then travel. It don't work like this.

In November 2011 we took the sleeper train Ahmedebad to Nainital, 2AC, took 22 hours and there was mice running through the carriage, climbing in our boots so we tied the boots to the lamp on the ceiling. Great fun, jumping off to buy samosas - great way to see the country and meet locals.

I have visited India twice, once in the ‘70s and again in the ‘80s and I travelled on these types of trains and in the same class. Yes, an experience I never want to repeat in my lifetime. An ordeal and a nightmare.

The thing about us Indians here is we have gotten used to being in such appalling conditions. Most Indians still travel in these sleeper or 3ACs packed like this. In many cases if we buy the tickets late, which I am assuming these blokes did, we don't get reserved seats, doomed to travel 2 people in one berth (RAC). Many Indians are savvy enough to bribe the TT to get a better seat. But most lay down on the floor to get through the night. This is not at all what happens in the west. We need to get better. And it is getting better. Slowly. The toilets are gonna stink. If these trains get better toilets, then they will get trashed or broken on the inaugural run. Whatever that 'river' is, assuming a 'naala' of Delhi is filthy and needs to get cleaned up. As for the butthurt ones, don't worry, the Chinese too got these content thirsty firangs before they upgraded to a high speed clean and shiny police state. Apna time bhi ayega.

Dude you guy's travelled nearly 1600km in only 25£ and if any one can get 3rd class tickets then you 100%can get 1st class or 2nd class tickets because people bokk tickets from economy to 1at ac so if u can get 3rd ac you can definitely get 1st ot 2nd ac and When more than 20 million people travelling by trains on a daily basis its obviously going to very crowded And you don't have to whow these things British and America media already doing it and more effectively than you And if want chaotic experiences then enjoy why so much complaints Look india is so diverse you can see every thing thousands year old civilizational and cultural history to modern days space rockets To cleaest places to dirtiest ones So its up to you what is your priority what you want to see what you want to experience
