are you sure the chance to have a double resist in armory is 1/10k? i had 2 runs in a row where i nova cold snap nova and still 2 mobs are running around ...
You must need naxx level frost resist for this because I dont understand. Follow the pull to the T and no matter what im getting hit with frostbolts/slows before even getting near kill phase.
Most of these pull guides are pretty shite and dont really tell the reality of how the pulls go even if you follow the guide in the video to a T. I managed to do the cath pull where the mobs path back and forth on the fountain ledge but even with decent resist the bolts still hit me very very frequently while in Arlaeus vids he gets hit very very rarely, which adds to the frustration.
20? to get all the mob to the blockspot kills me very fekin time -.- im watching the video and doin it the same way (at least i think it), but my ice barrier collapses way faster and more mobs hit me. its pain in the arse -.-
@@svenolaf5215 Yah I'm at like 40 deaths now, I've done it successfully a few times. I die most often during the blizzarding phase actually. Still trying...
@@svenolaf5215 Now I'm at like 60 deaths... seriously I'm close to giving up. I paid a full T2 mage on another server for runs - he seemed very good with it and familiar but even HE died on the 2nd run... so I'm thinking it's very difficult to be consistent.
@@danmobile There's some RNG and deaths will be inevitable (like when defenders resists double nova in armory) - But you'll get the hang of it, the most important thing is creating distance before pulling mobs, so they dont swing once on the shield before you've made distance.
Arlaeus I was wondering if I could ask for a wee bit of help. I have never tried SM boosting and I am giving it a go with this video. I did not change my talents but they are pretty much the same as yours are here. The only notable difference is I don't have Shatter (I have Elemental Precision and 2 more points in arcane instead). I don't have the Frost Resist that you do and that may be the answer to the first problem I'm having. Otherwise most things are equal. I have 2 Piece Bloodvine and Archmage chest but my gear is otherwise not as good. 6k mana. No engineering. So anyway, for the most part, it seems like I'm doing the pull just like you and I'm doing mostly fine on it with one exception: my first problem is that I am pretty darn tapped on mana by the time I get to the kill phase. I'm often sub 2k mana by that point... and I think most of that is because of Mana Shield and Blink, though I am only using Blink where you do. I do not have the dagger. However, that's not really the big problem. I'm usually dead before I run out of that 2k. I drop exactly where you say near the lion statue and run to exactly where you do and do the first Blizzard exactly like you do. I believe I'm casting it for the same amount of time before moving forward like you do to cast a second... but they catch up to me and kill me almost immediately after I start casting a second Blizzard. If I drop off the platform instead of doing the second Blizzard then the other mobs catch me and kill me. The only slight success I seem to have is if instead of doing it your way I run much farther down before doing my first Blizzard... but that's not good enough to do the kill because Ill end up having mobs running backwards (Towards the entrance of the instance) as well being that far back and eventually something catches me. Besides being low on mana when I get to that point... it really seems like my run is pretty identical to yours all the way up until the kill phase and the second Blizzard. Is there anything you might be able to think of to help me get the last part of this done? (I have some experience AoE farming elsewhere... mainly in ZF Graveyard. So I understand the concepts... I'm just failing at the execution somewhere here).
Big thanks for the strats. Got DPS/Healing alts 60 for TBC hype and made 5k from boosting peeps. Def want to get at least 5 toons 60 so when the time comes I can pump out 5 tailoring CD's and a few Alch CD's. Just waiting to see what Blizzard eventually says before making the time investment. Never know if they pull a fresh on us but I'd wager it would be cheaper and easier for them to just roll on through to BC.
I am having such a hard time in the process of pulling them all, I keep up my ice ward, mana, and Ice barrier but get constantly slowed by the Frost Mages in here. I want to get this down, but so hard
where does the 'slow' come into it ? i get casted a 12 second arcane slow, not frostbolts...wtf also bro...that stun is BRUTAL! i dunno if its luck and rng but i have same resists as you and it aint going well.
this pull simply doesnt work that way, the mobs split into two packs every single time during the kill phase at the fountain. They never just stay as one group, they will always split into two and then one will eventually reach you and kill you
I had major problems doing this with mana i was not getting mana back like u were and ran on empty right in kill phase so i devised my own way i guess they are right when people say try it the way that first you the most
Chance for mobs to resist two frost novas is 0.7%. There is 71 mobs in that pull, each has 0.9999% chance to be hit by first or second or both frost novas. So your chance to hit all the mobs with nova after two novas is 0.9999^71 which is around 99.3%.
Cold snap is much better to save for cath, if you get 1 resist on nova in armory just sheep, if you get more than 1, then go back to the mobs and cone of cold. Now all mobs are either slowed from hitting you, from coc, or still in nova because of coc resist. Blink away and start blizzard.
The armory pull is impossible. There's not enough room for 3 full blizzards and they always separate somehow so you can never get off flamestrike. And that's even IF you survive the block, all those mobs in front of you means they all swing at you after you nova. Usually one shots.
Im pretty sure im getting way more slows from frostbolts than usual eventhough Im pathing the same way as a few months ago. Something changed and I need more frost resistance :(
It would be nice if you let the run go at least once without pausing so I can follow along while I’m doing it myself. I can’t pause my mobs to wait while u pause to talk 😭
I’m pretty sure stuns in lib are normal since holy resistance don’t really exist, like you don’t have it in your character sheet and knowing classic spaghetti code, it may be linked to that
I learned the cath and arms 1 pull today and personally had more success with the more conservative IB at the bottom of the stairs. Timing can be a bit tricky otherwise, and blocking just gives a lot more leeway. Wouldn't necessarily recommend people to start with the strat shown in this video, but once you got the basics down it's nice :)
Thanks for the great videos! When you make videos like this, could you jump on the safespots and look back at the mob train? I think it would be really instructional to be able to show what a good in-progress pull looks like. The only peek we get, here, is during the rank1 blizzard. But you pass through a couple of safe spots, and you could stop for a second to look at the exact mob positions.
You don't need to stop at all while drinkwalking. Because of batching you can just drink it 1 batch before and the drink buff will be active while you are running. You get the mana from that tick.
It isn't a 1/10,000 chance to have a mob that isn't nova'd because hitting a mob that is frost nova'd with frost nova again has a chance to break it out of the first frost nova. It's like a 1% chance so the chances of you getting at least 1 mob that gets through both novas is about 1/3.
what you are saying makes absolutely no sense in arm the mobs are attacking you after you burst them down you flamestrike them and almost all of them survive? also hard to believe you use this as your tactic when you go so low health yourself all the time ive watched 3 different videos and see you almost die in like 70% of the cases
I actually do something very similar. For cathedral I usually do the iceblock pull unless I was forced to use iceblock to remove the slow and when that happens I do the no iceblock method. For armory when I get a resist I cold snap nova again and then blizzard the mobs around 3 times till I see the first mob running away, I blink, nova, flamestrike + CoC, then spam arcane explosion
I could really use some help on learning these farms effectively. I've been trying to follow your instructions to the T but am just getting demolished. I'm trying to use my mage as a raw gold farming option because my main is a warrior. Not too great for gold farming. Right now I can do the courtyard area (Not the chapel) of SM Cath in 1 pull. I survive about half the time, so not very effective yet.
I assume the slow is an Arcane spell so if you happen to have any arcane resist gear that could help? But really its just rng and it doesn't get cast that often
I actually don't care for this method of Armory. Cold snap is a great tool for unlucky slows or resists, and there's no need to put it on cool down unless you absolutely have to. I have hundreds of SM runs, most around 10 minutes, and cathedral is definitely the riskier instance of the two for me. If you're dying consistently in armory then I guess it's worth burning your cold snap, but honestly just get more stam, time your barriers well, and poly fast if you get a single resist.
If that works for you that's great!! You'd be surprised how many people were coming to me and saying they were fine in cath, but just struggled in armory. Glad you found a way that works for you though!
@@arlaeus9491 I'll pass this onto my friend. He keyboard turns and can do cathedral fine but struggles a bit in armory. This might help him a bunch. Thanks for the vid and the reply.
I think more people struggle with armory. Personally I've found that not shielding pre-block is the way to go, that way you can easily tank a mob if you need to, and you come out of block with full mana as well. You might be at 50-75% hp, but it should work out fine. Better to have more mana and shields available than full health, no shield and no mana.
Do you think it would be worth using some nature resist as well to reduce the chance of getting hit with Slow or would it require to much to make a difference?
Hey arlaeus, really you are the best. Im trying this and im having problems with Arm run, i never completed it, always dead in phase kill. How much fire resistance you recommend minimum?
Thanks for the vid! A tip / suggestion: In armory, when you start the pull in the corridor; when you exit that corridor you have some mobs in the corner, then 4 in the center. You can actually nova just before those two packs of two in the center and it will freeeze everything there (incuding the ones in the corner) while keeping you out of melee range, it allows you to also use nova a second time when on the lower section where you do as well, works quite good for me. Takes a little bit of practice :)
Great video. If you ever get time, can you go over how you get your nan Shield to show the different colors? I see it asked in Discord and after trying to figure it out myself, I'm curious as well.
Always feel free to hop in the stream and ask! I also go over it in my addons video. Open up the weakaura, go to the conditions tab and scroll down to each damage type. You can change the two color palettes there!
just a heads up to anyone reading, if you dont have the t2 set you can get from ubrs Polychromatic Visionwrap +20 to all resistances, also banshees finger strat ud/ 10fr aq has a couple of resistance staffs or you could buy the one on the ah. think it has 20 fr 20 fire resist. as a good starer item. im sitting at 400 sp and 100 fr. hardly ever get slowed.also rings from ony and mc is also good if your low on coin. if your really new you could get magic res pots also, and lips. till you learn the pulls.
For cath or armory? If Cath, use a lip while you're getting it down but its basically just making sure that they're all slowed. Once they scatter then you just finish them off with nova and cone of cold or arcane explosion. In regards to the rank 1 blizzard in the hallway make sure that you have your camera following style set to never and then you can just turn on auto run, turn the camera around and cast blizzard.
You have also little chance to break nova with 2nd nova and then there is another small chance to resist 2nd nova.. So there is a minimal chance but still there is to have more mobs out of nova after 2 novas then when you use only 1 nova... :X I hope you can understand me without big troubles English is no my mother language...
@@arlaeus9491 Hmm, I got a 42 mage in a WoTLK server and I was thinking about soloing ZF, but I have frostbite. Do you think it would be better to respec and do it or just keep normal lvling?
@@66.6howl Frostbite has the potential to ruin these farms. The name of the game for AoE farming is to keep mobs grouped up. Frostbite has a chance to randomly root some of the mobs which will cause them to fall out of the group. Its definitely possible to pull off the ZF GY blizzard farm but it is riskier
Question in case anyone gets here: Does the fact that his spec has no Elemental Precision increase the chance to get a nova resist coming out of Iceblock?
lmao i try this and get destroyed by melee hits as i come back to the right side of lower courtyard this is pissing me off LMAO 130 frost resist and still eat frostbolts
Dude, youre videos are GREAT. Every time I think Im good at boosting - you school me with something new and improved like this. Keep it up - will be watching your stream in a couple hours! Big fan
I was noticing a HUGE increase in how many frostbolts landed on me in cath after the maintenance. I thought i was just getting really unlucky all of a sudden. Might be similar to your stuns. In one run I had probably 12-15 frostbolts actually land which obv killed me.
Excelent video, i always learn something new with you, i am interested to know which is the name of addon to track exp from people that i am boosting, i will appreciate it so much! :)
Hello, I live in Germany. Which is why I still want to tell you something. Exit Warcraft. The game just sucks because of you. What about the ban, for a player? Griefing? For WHAT? For taking a buff from you. On a PVP server? You use a gamemaster to just let go of your anger on a player who was playing by the rules? How poor are you I hope the Gamemaster has at least been fired for his selfish, non-athletic behavior. Just because a player, their favorite streamer, does PVP things on a PVP realm, does they get banned? No, streamers are sometimes really the cancer, they just pay their subscription and then get their personal gamemaster, depending on the range.
