For the past 37 years I’ve been buying brand new trucks every 3-4 years and aside of my LandCruisers this ford has been extremely reliable and very easy to add aftermarket updates like a lift and engine work with zero issues so I don’t need luck cause I bought a Ford. No disrespect but that’s the government talking and don’t think you like the government pushed mandates do you as they’re going after the automobile makers herd right now as Ford has been fighting against their mandates which is why you can still find a new V8 ford without cylinder deactivation or auto stop so how about looking up how out of the ten top most reliable vehicles Ford F150 5.0 was the most reliable vehicle many years in a row, the nine others were all Toyotas. There’s always a lemon in a bunch and unfortunately there are many more in every manufacturer. Just bought my wife a new Yukon Denali and that POS has been in the shop every month. So, I’d only speak with actual Ford F150 owners and not these government supported companies

As a Ford technician I recommend the same posture. As I tell all of my friends and anyone who will listen. Not going to have family upset with my recommendation. and learning Transmissions have been around for 20 years. The sad part is that Ford can't get it right because they rush it to Market before it's sufficiently tested. Ford trucks come off the carrier to the dealership requiring updates on 10 to 15 modules. NoT ACCEPTABLE. Make it. Test it.. customers are not and should not be the guinea pigs when they're spending 62 to$90,000 on a truck

Have a 2021 F150 5.0. It has been absolutely flawless since purchase. I now have 43000 miles on it and it has been used regularly to haul 6-9,000lbs. It's smooth, comfortable, and does everything I need it to. Coming from a 2018 that treated me the same until it was totaled; I can't complain. I've driven the rams and the Chevys, the ram has a nicer ride but I didn't like the interior as much, the chevy felt underpowered and heavy. That's my opinion, everyone is entitled to their own and I'd never judge. But I'm personally very pleased with my F150.

According to Consumer Reports, there are NO "full sized" pick-ups of ANY brand on their list of MOST reliable list ('12-'21). You must be one of the LUCKY ones to get an F150 that was NOT built on a Mon or Fri! Btw, the '17, '18 F150 IS on their "WORST USED CARS/TRUCKS" to buy list. HAPPY MOTORING!
@mattweeks2272
@mattweeks2272 Год назад
@@TheOzthewiz I’m well aware lol. When my friends are shopping I steer them away from 17 F150s with the 10spd and I steer them away from 18 F150s in general. I was definitely a lucky one with mine. However, I will also say that any vehicle will last with proper maintenance. My 18 5.0 never had transmission issues, but it did have the preignition issue and it showed signs of oil consumption. But keeping the oil change intervals at 3000mi, it was never below its full mark by more than maybe 1/2 a quart. The preignition was mitigated when I started running it on 93 octane fuel. Doing those two things kept the truck running flawlessly. My 21 doesn’t have any preignition issues or oil consumption issues. But I still keep the oil change interval at 3000mi. I own another vehicle too that is not known for reliability. A 2005 ford Explorer. Their transmissions are absolutely abysmal and if you have the 4.0 (I have the 4.6 2v) you will have timing chain issues along with thermostat housing problems. I’m currently at 220k miles on it and it runs/drives like a dream and it’s never left me stuck on the side of the road. It’s also never given me a check engine light. But again, I’m ridiculous when it comes to preventative maintenance.

Tim, you're correct in that many manufacturers don't properly coat their products for anti-corrosion. I've been in the aerospace helicopter industry as a design engineer for 30 years. The M&P engineers (material and processing) would never let us cheap out on corrosion prevention, in any condition; especially salt water. Nice to see your videos are accurate. Corrosion is a huge part of quality. Dissimilar metals, corrosive catalysts like salt water; it's mechanics of materials 101 ... I guess the car industry just hasn't figured that out yet. A friend bought a new 21 F150 with the 5.0. He has been a lifelong Ford guy. The engine valvetrain had a catastrophic failure and it sat at the dealership for six months waiting for a new engine. He has had the truck back for some time now. He said he does not like the transmission and it sometimes clunks badly when shifting. It has been reprogrammed and still shifts badly. I know the pickup market is very competitive and manufacturers are constantly making changes and improvements. I believe some of these constant changes result in reliability issues. The bottom line is new pickups are way too expensive and are experiencing declining reliability.

The biggest downside I see is that Ford started using oil pump belts on the 2.7 and 5.0 starting a few years ago and they routed the belt behind the timing chain. It's going to be a big expense if you are the type that keeps a truck for that many miles. Trading it before then dodges the expense but the used market may reflect that big service expense in used truck values.

I bought a 2022 Tundra immediately after they came out since I previously had a 2015 Tundra. I really liked the 22 Tundra, but I wasn't in love with it. Went with the SR5. I found the turbo to have a lot of lag and I never felt like I enjoyed the interior. It made a ton of noise with what felt like cheap plastic and didn't ultimately live up to my expectations of my 2015 Tundra. Toyota sold me on reliability and dependability with my 2015 Tundra and the transfer case imploded with less than 5,000 miles on it. The only reason why I stayed with that truck was because the dealership gave me their platinum warranty for 8yrs/100,000 miles. The truck was reliable after that. Well, I just traded the 2022 Tundra last week in for a Lariat F150 v8 and I absolutely love it. It feels better, more solid, more quiet, more features... and I bought a warranty for it in case it does begin to have issues. I'm a career firefighter and need something reliable and safe. Time will tell and a week isn't enough to give a full review, but so far I really enjoy it and feel "At home" compared to my Tundra. My last thoughts are this... for the average consumer, buy the extended warranty. This is one of the few things I'll buy a warranty on. I've owned all of the brands and they all have their issues. @@Reu_ag You make a fair observation and I see another commenter brought it up as well. When I purchased my SR5, I was very limited in the area I live with what trim level they had in the color I wanted and settled. I drove all of the trims and wanted nicer. With that said, each of the trims to me with the Tundra didn’t have that same premium feel my F150 has. Even the XLT I drove before my Lariat felt like it was smoother and quieter in the cab. The plastic didn’t make a bunch of noise and overall the truck seemed better. With that said, I’m not a brand loyal person. Today I’m in an F150, yesterday I was in a Tundra and tomorrow I might be in a GM. I’ve owned all of them and my entire point of this wasn’t to compare the SR5 to the Lariat, but more so to focus on the point that I’ve felt like each of them have their own issues and nothing is a tank anymore. To wrap it up, I’m certainly aware of the differences between the two trims, but you’d be surprised. The tundra still had plenty of features. I could have sworn that the F150 had 'average' reliability according to Consumer Reports just last year? Other than changing the dashboard etc., I didn't think there was much change in 2023, so it would be interesting to see what CR thinks is wrong now. Yes, I know the 5.0 recently got cylinder deactivation. I am having trouble believing that the F150 handles much worse than the competition as well, and who cares if the ride is a quarter of a notch worst than some of the competition? I actually own a new GMC HD, but, even after hearing what CR thinks, I would still consider the F150 if I were in the market for a half-ton. The only problems I have noticed yet with my 2023 F150 Powerboost are related to the audio, where for some unknown reason the Android Bluetooth audio seems to turn off on it's own. But the engine power that it puts out is quite a lot and without straining itself. Oh, and also I have averaged 18.7 mpg's while always using regular unleaded gasoline.

Stay away from Fords! My brother just had a 2021 F150 with a 5.0L Coyote motor just quite running. This guy does meticulous maintenance on all his farm equipment and vehicles and documents it all. Took the truck to the Ford dealership in Tulsa. 10 minutes later they tell him the truck (52,000 miles on it) needs a new motor. No explanation why EVERYTHING on the motor broke and it ALL needs to be replaced. He asks to speak to the technician. They say, "No". He laughs and walks back into the Ford maintenance shop and begins asking this technician what he did to diagnose the truck and what EXACTLY is wrong with the truck. Technician says, "I just pulled the codes and gave them to the maintenance boss. He decided what to do. He takes the truck back to the farm, does a bit of research, pulls the valve covers, and finds ONE broken valve spring....ONE. A $10 fix. Ford wanted him to buy a $7,000 motor. Wait...I forgot to tell you that Ford wouldn't even discuss a warranty fix, because the truck was 2,000 miles over the 50,000-mile warranty limit. Real nice, Ford! So, because he overdoes everything, he bought a whole new head and valve train to replace ONE broken valve spring. He buys the Ford maintenance manual to ensure he does the work to Ford specifications. After replacing the head 3X and NOT being able to time the truck correctly, he gets a little frustrated. My brother calls around and finds a retired Ford technician who agrees to time the truck for $1,000. He does it in 1/2 a day. My brother asks him what he did wrong? The retired Ford technician says Ford purposely left the most important step in timing the truck out of the Ford maintenance manual my brother paid an arm and a leg for to ensure he did it to Ford specs. The technician says, "You have to have this special tool and load the #2 cylinder by rotating the cam 90 degrees before you replace the timing chain. Total cost to fix ONE valve spring, which is apparently a big problem on these 5.0 Coyote motors (bad Chinese steel), on a Ford truck with 52,000 miles = $2,000. Yeah, he sold that POS and Ford lost a customer for life. More importantly, I plan to tell this story to everyone who will listen until the day I die. Ford Motor Company is managed by a bunch of greedy assholes who DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT and will try to rip you off at every turn. If you do business with Ford Motor Company, you deserve what you get...a pile of garbage built by a company that will not stand behind their vehicles. Sell that piece of crap and buy a GMC with a 6.6L DURAMAX. It's the best diesel engine made today...period...full stop. Go watch the YT videos Gale Banks made on the 6.6L DURAMAX. Y'all seem like decent folks, and I sure want to see you succeed with your YT channel. I like watching the adventures. Go buy a truck you can count on. Go buy a new GMC truck with a 6.6L DURAMAX. Put a set of new Michelin LTX tires and got the alignment done a month after I bought it. For being a 13 year old truck, the ride quality still impresses me. Couple of my friends complimented me on the conditions and ride quality. One of my friends, who drives a 2021 Tundra TRD Pro he purchased new, met with me to have brunch, and he said I want to drive your truck. After we did a little loop around the area we went to eat, he said, this old truck rides better than my Tundra. And he was working at Toyota headquarters. I also owned, well, leased a 2015 Silverado 1500 LT Double Cab with the 5.3 V8 back then. Best truck ever. Never had any unexpected repairs. Just regular maintenance done until about 50K miles. I traded because I was way over the miles for lease. You want your vehicle, in this case truck, to work well, treat it nicely and don’t drive like a jackass. Any vehicle is susceptible to have issues or being a lemon. Do I wish my old 2010 F-150 had some features my Passat had, like the killer Fender Sound System and Sunroof, absolutely. The 10 speed transmission has been good unhitched and towing my 7000 pound travel trailer. I do drive easy does it, not pedal to the metal. I bought it because it had what I needed, 36 gallon fuel tank, tow package with controller, 7k payload package, LT tires, nav, dual power seats, bed liner, back up sensors, remote start etc. I couldn't find a Ram 1500 Hemi with what I needed. Only use it for towing and hauling so it's a relatively low mileage truck. Don't have much of a rust issue as I'm in southern Arizona, but a wire brush and black rust-oleum works on minor surface rust on the rear axle. With the crazy prices on new trucks now I will hang on to this one as long as I can. Knock on wood. I check and top up the front and rear axles and the transfer case with Ford spec fluids as they tend to be a tad low from the factory. I did the same thing on my 2013 FX4 (also a very good truck) which was a tad low from the factory as well. Don't expect the dealerships to check these levels on a new or late model truck.

If you have squeaking, check your tail gate ..I had the same problem with mine and I could figure out what it was till one day I was stepping on my rear bumper to get in the back and had to grab the tail gate and heard a squeak ,that sound the same we when I was driving over bumps ...check it out for yourself give the tail gate a pull back and forth see if that helps

I ordered a new 23' F150 3.5 eco boost Lariat last February, received it in late May. Mind you, this truck has 1,150 miles on it. About 4 weeks ago while on a routine drive as I was attempting to pass a car going 45 mph, I hit the accelerator gently and noticed I had lost about half of the engines HP and the check engine light came on immediately, took it to the dealership where I purchased it and they told me that one of the turbo charger shafts was broken in half! A month later, I'm still without my truck (parts on backorder)and I'm thinking seriously about enacting the "lemon law" with Ford. I paid way too much for this vehicle to be having motor problems already. I have been a loyal Ford guy for the last 40 years and for the most part, not many issues.☹

@@richardscribben4352 Ford really stepped up to the plate and settled it outside an actual "lemon law" claim. I'm still waiting for my new truck (2024) to be built but they allowed me to drive the Lariat (small per mile fee) until it arrives. Hat's off to Fords RAV team for making my situation right!👍

I have a 2018 F-150. 5.0 with 47,000 miles. I’ve had zero issues other than the normal engine noise and oil consumption for this year model, lol. I don’t mind adding 2 quarts of oil between 5k oil changes. It took some getting used to too, but I just tell myself it is the nature of the beast. If I have any major issues then I may consider something else but it seems that all brands are having issues, I would be stumped on my next choice. Maybe I will buy an 70, 80’s model and build it???

And that's why dealerships typically only give a 36 mo warranty. If they truly felt their vehicle was built with quality components they would give 100k mile unlimited on everything on the vehicle as the basic warranty.

We bought a 2018 ford edge titanium with a 2.0L turbo and 28k miles. We have had nothing but issues with it. Turbo went out at 60k, flexplate broke shortly after that. 87k miles the turbo needed replacement again. Fast forward to just over 100k and the turbo is bad again. This time we are out of warranty and looking at $2200 to have it replaced. Called ford and they wont do anything. Turbo has a 2 year warranty but they wont replace it because the warranty is on the original part we replaced the first time and not the second one. We will never own another ford again.

I drive a 2020 F-150 with the 5.0L Coyote--so, far, it's been very reliable. Ford ruined the 5.0L in 2021 when they put cylinder deactivation on it. Cylinder deactivation is a crap technology--and that includes the Chrysler and GM engines. To be fair, I know people that have also had big problems with the Chrysler 5.7 Hemi with cylinder deactivation-related issues, as well as with GM engines. The GM 6.2 V8 has been a real dog for some people I know--one guy who had three new ones in GMC AT4's at his resort/ranch had two of the three shell out their engines below 30K miles. I have several friends with Ford Ecoboosts--they all have had problems, up to and including complete engine failures. I remain unconvinced that turbocharged gasoline engines will have the reliability and longevity of naturally aspirated engines. Of all of the 1/2 ton truck engines, the one that I think has the best reliability and longevity is the now-discontinued Toyota 5.7 V8. It's only weak spot was pretty awful fuel economy.

As a person who has owned a F150 for over 16 years and was very happy with my’00 I bought a new f150 in 2019 XLT 5.0V8 with the 10 speed I’ve had nothing but issues with excessive oil consumption with the 5.0 and other issues and with just over 75 miles and have kept the maintenance up the transmission needs to be replaced as a Ford truck owner. I am a palled by the lack of quality and overall ownership with my Ford product and I’m getting rid of it soon and will be getting a Honda or Toyota. They’ve lost a lifelong customer.

Ford people are Ford people and will always buy them regardless. I’ve always been a GM person just because of ride and seat comfort, I have owned Fords. I’ve given them several trials over the years and always had issues with them. I take great care and keep maintenance items completed as recommended by manufacturer. I’ve owned an F-150, 2- Explorers, and a Bronco. All had major oil leaks just past 36,000 miles(out of warranty), 1 cam shaft bearing failure at 60,000, 2 transmissions with torque converter problems. The torgue converter’s went out under warranty, one happened on the way home from purchasing. So Fords are not on my menu any longer, just got rid of my last explorer, probably the best of the lot, 2015 with eco boost, made it to 70,000 before valve covers starting leaking and two wheel bearings. Traded for my first different than GM or Ford ever, got a platinum Nissan Pathfinder. We will see how this goes!
