The lead singer of this band is an incredible person. I went to a meet n greet of theirs two years ago. My friend Zach who passed away when I was a teenager showed me blue October. And I went to see them on Zach’s birthday & told them about it. They signed a poster, telling him happy birthday. And announced they were bringing the house down in his honor during the show. He stood in front of me and sang “I hope you’re happy”, holding my hand basically the entire performance. Meant the world to me. I felt like Zach was right there beside us. Never felt anything close to that in my life. Justin is amazing.

I absolutely love that it brought out that emotion in Jai so quickly, I cry every time I hear it and I’m a 56 year old guy with 2 grown kiddos. Justin has been through some dark dark times, like I have, like a lot of us in the Blue October family have. I listened to this song 100’s of times when I went through my divorce, I know it by heart and it’s my favorite song by Blue October. I’ve seen them perform it 3 times live as a band and I saw Justin perform it on his solo tour, it’s absolutely incredible 🥰 (I’m crying now 😏)

Seeing him on the open book tour was a deeply moving experience. Won VIP tickets. Got to meet him, get a poster signed and and right before his manager was about to take a picture I said "weird how we've got are arms around each other like we're old friends" he said "awww we can be friends!" and gave me a full on hug so I matched it and ended up with a great picture and memory. You had me in tears. I have recently been diagnosed with Ptsd and major depression disorder long term and recurrent. First time hearing this version of the song. He has another video that gave me chills and had on repeat. He sang it with so much emotion and intensity. It helped me on my darkest days! I know these are public comments and I rarely share how life finally broke me and took me to my knees as well changed me forever despite my already tough times I’ve battled before this! I lost my husband on April 9, 2017 and my life as I knew was gone in less than an hour. I returned home after 10 days visiting relatives, was home about 4 hours, we started making love and was standing, he hit the floor with eyes open. I was like what the hell! He couldn’t respond verbally nor physically. I called 911 and started doing cpr while screaming, praying, crying, begging, pleading, panicked, frightened, confused! It happened out of the blue and he was dying in front of me! It was happening to fast! 40 mins he was gone... I tried with all I had in me to save his life.... heart attack took my best friend, my soul mate, my life partner ... short version 😢 this song helped me process some fears and feelings on days I didn’t want to be here either.. Never take the ones you love for granted, never fear to cry, never fear to talk and express your mental or physical health issues! Life is hard and we are only human, we can only cope with so much before we honestly can’t! It’s a very scary and lonely place... when we get too embarrassed to ask for help or our pride gets in the way in fear of ridicule!! Tears running down my face because now I know exactly how others have fought so hard to overcome and heal their battles... and yet still feel hopeless some days

WOW! I had never heard that song before watching this reaction video and I am so glad I got to watch it with Jai! I wish I could hug her, I battle with anxiety and I also battle with depression(MDD) I hate it, I hate that I can't control it or make it go away. I hate that it can affect the people that I love... like Jai said to know that your issues are/or may cause the people that you love most from being able to live their life the way they want to live it and to be able to do the things they enjoy doing without them having to question what they can or can't do because they are concerned about your anxiety. It doesn't matter how many times we are told it's okay to not be okay all of the time or that they'll always love us just the way we are (hard to believe when we sometimes feel like we don't love ourselves so HOW can someone else truly love us) and we do exactly what Jai started to do.... questioning if we should be in a relationship because we feel like our problems will become their problems and when you love someone you never want to feel like you are causing them to miss out on things in life that they enjoy doing because of how it will affect you. Are we holding the person we love the most back from being the best that they can be and that causes us to have anxiety about our relationship....will they one day get tired of altering their life to appease us? I am and will be praying for Jai to overcome her anxiety! Much love and respect for you both! My fav band of all time. So underappreciated or known.....best lyrics and performances and no one, no one, connects with the audience like Justin. I grew up maybe 10miles from him in Alief, TX back in the 80's but never heard of him then...and apparently he was pretty big locally. Was introduced to him 5 years ago by a friend and now I travel to see them as much as I can.

Having someone that understands you and sticks by your side no matter what is the greatest gift of all. I wouldn't feel guilty because he is expressing his love for you and it's nothing to him to do it because he loves you that much. Love always put together those that need each other the most.

Blue October is my favorite band and Justin has many songs that spoke to my life, but this song “Fear” in particular helped me tremendously overcome everything he addresses in their music: depression, addiction, rejection, social anxiety from lifelong subjection to abuse. This man's current wife pulled him out of the addictions that his mental illnesses were fueling and he wrote a song to her called "how to dance in time". Maybe not worth a reaction video but worth a watch. In a live from Manchester version, he starts the song by just calling her name. In his most passionate voice. You literally feel this dudes love and appreciation for her in how he calls her name. Makes you wonder if anybody calls your name with that level of passion. Appreciate the video.

As I said in a previous comment. My wife passed at 38 yrs old due to cancer. We were married just days before her passing. We knew each other all our lives though. She heard this song for the first time during one of Billy's live streams. She instantly took to it. It was played in the house everyday and sometimes more than once . It helped her to calm that fear of what was to come and the unknown. When she passed she was at peace and no fear showed in her. I think this had a hand in that. Jai you hang in there. Look to this as an anthem for yourself. Lora had anxiety also. It is very real and painful. But it can be overcome. Don't force it and don't rush it. Play this as many times a day as you need to. You will get there. Love y'all.

Man... I feel what your saying Jai. I’m a Navy Vet with PTSD and it kills me to know what I can’t do with my with because of the anxiety that kicks in when I’m in crowded areas. Sometimes we can’t even eat out because I can’t find a seat I can sit in and not freak out. And that’s just scratching the surface. My wife is amazing and has never made me feel bad or weird for what I’m going through. Keep on pushing! It sounds like you got a great man who’s supportive and will be with you through it.

One of their best songs and the song that made them my favorite band ever. Being a woman who was recently in a domestic violence relationship for many years, this song gave me the strength to get out and it became my first and last song on my playlist almost every time I worked out and went jogging.

I love you guys- your reactions are always real and honest. I love the vulnerability and love that you both show with one another. It's a beautiful thing! I'm not sure if you caught it, but at the end of the song, in the quiet part, he does essentially tell you to pray to get through things. He sings, "Now Breathe... And ask for more. If you're bitter still... Ask Him to help you carry on." Justin wasn't always a real believer but had a life-changing moment in rehab that helped him find God and himself all at once. He tells about it in his Open-Book Tour, and it gives me chills every time. I cry almost every time I hear this passionate acoustic performance because I know his story (and mine) and I'm so damn proud of him (and me- and now you too, Jai) for persevering! Remember- We have survived ALL of our hardest days so far!

I know this is a bit old, but you made me cry. My fiance I've known since grade school lived 500 miles away and I had such severe anxiety. He wanted me to visit for his birthday and my anxiety grabbed ahold of me and wouldn't let me go. It took hours of crying, convincing myself and this song on repeat to force myself in the car. I drove 9 hours straight scared to death with my son. It'll be a year next month that I've been here with him. I conquered my fear and anxiety. We are seeing Blue October in November and I can't wait. I felt and understood everything you said and I wanted to give you such a big hug. You are amazing. 🖤

It's okay love. I've been diagnosed with depression and anxiety since junior year high school. I did a high school talent show on acoustic guitar, Slide by The Goo Goo Dolls, and was AFRAID but I did it. The whole auditorium stood up and applauded including teachers I had. This was back in the early 2000's.

I listen to this every morning and anytime during the day that I need it. It gets me through my day and helps me to understand that my mental health is something that only I can do anything about. Outside triggers are out of my control. I take it a day at a time. Music is always a great escape and really helps.

I found blue october about 20 years ago in one of those channels that no one watched, but had this cool TV show that was like a budge MTV. The only song I remember was "calling you" back in 2003. When youtube became a thing, they became one of my favorite. But since I haven't listen to them much, didn't even know they were still making new songs. This reaction gave me a new appreciation for the band. They are still one of those underrated bands most people never heard of. But thanks for the reminder how powerful their music is.
