Thank you! :) Yes, the consistency can be a bit tricky to figure out at first. I don't have a specific ratio I use since it will differ not only between brands, but also between colours within a brand, and metallics are always different. I go by how the paint flows instead, and for a dutch pour you want the paint to flow very well. I test the consistency by pouring from my mixing stick down in my cup/container. For thicker consistencies, you want the paint to create a mound as you pour it, but for dutch pours, the paint should not create a mound. It can penetrate the surface a little bit as you start to pour off your mixing stick, but should then be level with the surface. If it penetrates the surface for most of the pour, it's too thin. However, how the paint flows will depend on the amount of paint you've got on your mixing stick/spoon and distance to the surface. I pour from maybe 5 cm/2 inches above the surface. You'll have to experiment a bit to find the right consistency, and you'll probably also have a personal preference. Some like it a bit thicker, some a bit thinner. I tend to be on the thinner side. For good quality brands, and my favourite is Amsterdam, having the paint too thin will mostly affect how it covers the sides of the canvas. For lower quality paints, the paint can split if you add too much water. You'll therefore also have to adapt to the brand of paint, and maybe add a pouring medium if the paint binder is of a low quality. You got a long answer, but hopefully it was helpful :)
