I don’t have any rebound Bibles yet, but I’ve reached out to Jon at ICA to get one rebound. He’ll be rebinding my Knox Bible from Baronius Press. I love collecting Bibles, but that Knox Bible is my “the one.” I just want to take it to the next level and make it premium. I’m planning on getting it done with kangaroo leather. When I asked Jon about doing it in kangaroo, he said he’d never worked with kangaroo before but that he could do it. So I’ll be getting his first Bible in kangaroo! I’m honestly so excited and over the moon about getting this one rebound.

Nice! You don't often see full yapp on a 2 inch bible, but it actually looks really good! I was worried it would be too much when you had it open, but on the contrary, it still seems to be proportioned quite nicely! This is encouraging, because once I find my perfect paper/binding print of my favourite Study Bible (The Lutheran Study Bible by CPH) I'm going to have it rebound, but I was usure about full yapp or semi-yapp. I think I'll go with full!

My question is this: any recommendations for a fairly reasonably priced Bible with good print and quality paper that I can take and have ICA rebind. I’d be interested in NASB, ESV, NKJV, or NIV although if there is a really good option in the CSB translation I would consider that as well. I guess I would just want something that is easy to read with quality paper. Thanks in advance for any responses to my question.

Hey Tim, has this Bible patina’d? Has the color changed over time? Do you have any updated photos? I love the golden color and am thinking of getting the same leather on my rebind, but I’m wondering how it will patina. Thank you!

I've been kicking around ideas for a rebind for almost a year now, the gilting has been one of the biggest hangups, that black under gold is PERFECT, exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you for showing it off here.

This looks amazing, I wonder if this Bible has the widest margins outside of the Illustrating Bibles? I love those margin sizes just wish it wasn’t such a massive size and weight. Most seem to be 2” but this one is 2.25” are there any others that are above the 2” mark?

Tim you review all these rebinds but never the cost. I would be interested in a video that sort of covers what the regular consumer ( not a professional reviews) would expect to pay for a rebind, from no yapp cowhide to full yapp goat just so would know. I have several fav bibles in the silly leathertouch or leather soft that just flakes away after a few months. Yes prices change, cost increase, many options are out there. Or get some of these guys on your blog to just talk about their process and cost examples. I do see that ICA has a detailed price list on his website. But would like to see the other rebinders prices like this/

I had a specialty NT sent to ICA and wasn’t impressed by the service. To rebind is very expensive and Jon never consulted with me about how to rebind it. I was starting to get concerned since the timeline exceeded what was discussed. I wouldn’t use there services again down the road 😢

I have two ICA’s. My first is an ESV C and C also in golden yellow Badalassi w/ blk lambskin liner. It has a tooled line at the yapp but I also asked for black perimeter stitching. My second is a NKJV Maclaren in Navy Horween with a double gold gilt line and blue art gilt. Both are pieces of art. Mike does an absolute fantastic job every time

Got one very similar. NIV quentel 36 gsm Golden yellow badalassi carlo with red geranium page dye & cuadra tooling!! A true masterpiece

I have an NKJV Journal the Word Journaling Bible I got from someone not too long ago. It was already rebound in a Badalassi Carlo cover like yours when I got it 😊 it’s one of my favorite Bibles

Wow! That is a beautiful Bible. I love the black under gold art gilding. I think this Bible and the one you showed from Reformed and Rebound are two of my favorites. I just wish they didn't cost so much. But it is a great looking Bible.

Personally I say just read it like a normal book and get the story first, then study it to truly understand your faith. Make sure to pick a trustworthy translation!! Personally, I only trust KJV/NKJV, CSB, ESV, and NLT (NLT should only ever really be used for people with lower reading skills, though, like children, because it’s a very non-literal translation). Me personally, when in doubt, go for the KJV, can’t go wrong with it. It’s gonna be the cheapest as well as the easiest to find since it’s literally everywhere.
