Glad you liked it. Laughing and moral outrage at the same time just shows the brilliance of Minchin. The same reaction many of us had on first listening.

"The one thing I am against is the Catholic church..." This was the point where everyone who knows this song knew Mat was going to have a good time.

He goes in so hard, but yes, every word is true. Not only do they get away with it too often but the moment one goes to prison they seem to get out in record time. George Pell deserves far worse than prison for the stuff he did. Check out Tim's Cardinal Pell song

Thank You God would be a great follow up to this song. i don't want to spoil it, but it deals with just the issue you raised about the lack of proof for God's existence. You don't really get to hear it in this song, but Tim's piano skills are otherworldly.

Haha so glad you got onto this song so quickly! Tim is so intelligent, witty and a masterfull pianist. Has so many songs that broach so many topics. His points are well thought out so is difficult to argue against them. He always does it in a very funny but thought provoking way. FYI he also performs The Pope Song with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra which makes it extra funny, though I do like this performance better for it's rawness. Not Perfect is one of my all time favorite songs. Rock 'n' Roll Nerd, Dark side, thank you God, If I didn't have you, all great. His commencement speech, 9 life lessons - Tim Minchin UWA Address, excellent. One form of good comedy is the truth said suddenly and/or eloquently. Tim does this quite well. SUCH a clever song, turning people's sensibilities around on them.

I love this song and it is angry and funny but it is also over a decade old by now and nothing has changed. So it is also quite depressing.

the thing i noticed outside the obvious is that dispite all the cursing he uses some very clever wording.he's not just throwing the f about he's using higher vocabulary as well.there are some like stephen fry that argue that cursing is not a sign of low intelligence but rather emotion or emphasis.

He performed this song at the Reason Rally in Washington DC (US) and it several people in the crowd uploaded video. I mention this mainly because they had someone signing the lyrics for the hearing impaired. A boy in his late teens or early twenties, who is obviously having the time of his life.

Why respect a belief in something that has NEVER been shown to exist AND which is openly anti Gay and Trans ?

can i just ask you to start calling your self an atheist. we need to get it out there that there are more atheist then people think. atheist = you do not believe there is a god agnostic = is not a statement of belief it is a statement of knowledge. that means you do not KNOW something. if you answer the question "do you believe there is a god?" with anything other then yes you are an atheist. on this topic there are 4 options when you combine belief and knowledge. -agnostic atheist - you do not believe a god exists, but you do not know this to be a fact -gnostic atheist - you do not believe a god exists, and you know this to be a fact -agnostic theist - you believe a god exists, but you do not know this to be a fact -gnostic theist - you believe a god exists, and you know this to be a fact almost every atheist is agnostic. it is impossible to know a poorly defined entity does not exist. i can say i am a gnostic atheist when it comes to any god i have heard a proper definition of. honest theists are agnostic. there is not credible evidence for god. if there was one gnostic theist there would be no other option. they could provide the knowledge of god and everyone would be gnostic theists. would everyone worship that god, that is a hole different discussion.

i would go one step farther if you are catholic you are morally complicit with the crime and cover-up.
