Here is the complete 7:30 p.m. Action News with Pat Harper, Steve Bosh, Jerry Girard and Roberto Tirado. This aired on WPIX-TV Channel 11 on St. Patrick's Day, 1980.
I remember a production error during a broadcast that ended up showing Pat Harper chuffing a cigar when it was supposed to be a commercial break. No kidding!!
Loved this!!! Jerry Girard’s piece had me crying with laughter! So too Pat Harper’s reporting on the Worst Movie Festival! 😂😂😂. Brought back a lot of memories of my youth. Definitely a “period piece”. They’d be canceled today, but that was the way it was back then. And we watched them every night. That whole crew…we loved them!
B Ruane I believe the early 80s saw the Armenian Secret Army blow up a bomb or two...but the thing that I told my friend of Armenian descent...once you blow up a bomb and take credit for it...no more secret.
18:25 WOW ! This was the Golden Turkey Awards film festival held at the Beacon theatre. THIS is when they voted ED WOOD'S Plan 9 from Outer Space "The worst movie ever made". This was a PIVOTAL time for me and my taste in "bad movies as being HILARIOUS" . Game changer for me . I was in my last year of high school - the 1970s were over. I wish I could have done things differently from this point on..... but I guess everyone does.
I forgot how much coverage that Scarsdale diet Dr murder had. I remember watching this it is like time traveling. I must have watched this exact news cast.
Yes, it was like 24/7 ! I lived near NYC tho. This whole time period; Lennon's death and Belushi's death - both so shocking ! And remember when the 1980s did not seem so far away in the 1990s ?
@@LannieLord I sure loved WPIX I live in Western New York in a Backwater. There was nothing like that New York sophistication that WPIX offered. When our CableSystem canceled it there was one local community that actually tried to petition Congress. WPIX taught me to love The Honeymooners Star Trek The Twilight Zone the Yankees and Jerry Girard.
So much comedy gold here. Jeff Kamen's mustache, the Dow falls below the "psychologically important 800 level" and of course the one & only Jerry Girard.
A seventy-two-year-old news broadcaster, Katy Tong is appearing daily on television, good for her, as if a twenty-year-old dressed in hair dye and make-up, with red dripping red lips, for as long as, I am guessing well into her nineties, and as long as the market will allow, and if the market place has anything to do with anything, can be a very long time…just don’t dare to look like a seventy-two-year-old…
