My c24 was a completely stock rtr except for kit electronics from my old c24, the most reliable wpl/mn model/jjrc I’ve ever owned and it wasn’t until just recently that I found that the pinion gears in the new rtr are the metal ones, so definitely I recommend that
Just got the WPL C-24 a few weeks ago and I can confirm that the axle gears and pinion gears are all metal. I also hear from others that these things are fast, but mine came with a low gear setting so, it can crawl once assembled. I had to buy the two-speed gearbox and metal replacement shafts since I've been hearing a lot complaining that the stock shafts break pretty easily.
Nice! Yeah that's all you need really to make them even more reliable and fun. I will be installing the 2 speed and metal gears upgrade kit on my buddies c14 here soon.
I bought the B-1 RTR on impulse because of the looks and price. I knew it could be upgraded so I ordered some parts for it. I just picked up the C-14 with some upgrade parts as well. Can't wait to have the full line of these things. They're awesome, especially when you consider the price. Finally, something I can let my kids use without fear of spending a fortune when something breaks.
Thanks for the Great honest review 👍 I found most of the times these trucks don’t run smoothly because of the drive shaft angle and the friction of the plastic drive shafts at the u joint. Like you mentioned I had issues with my B16 and jjrc q60 and changed to metal ones with the pin and locking ring and the problem solved.
thanks for stopping by! I am honest about my experiences with anything I make a video about. I will not accept any products that the manufacturer or seller wants me to lie about.
I like building RC cars, Trucks, Boats, and airplanes and my neighbors know it, so they are constantly coming to me for advice and or to ask me to build/upgrade their new toys. I enjoy doing this and even the WPL cars can be turned into almost hobby grade cars.
They are a lot of fun to build and play with I have 2 now and plan on collecting them all. Right now I’m sticking all my extra money on my scx10 getting it ready for my competition. Well keep up the great videos and you’ll be passing 1000 subscribers soon until next time happy Rc’n
Awesome! Some good builds you have ahead of you! my number one tip is to check everything for proper movement and make sure you have no binding. when set up just right they work well.
That's why I tune into your shit, it's real....You pay for your stuff, like the majority of us...👍👍💵💲🏁🏁...Please keep up the good work....im in the process of doing my mn90 kit....Banggood got me on a bag of goodies that was missing. I asked for one steering connector that was missing....When I emailed them my pics...they must of checked my purchasing history....Regardless.....They have sent me a complete replacement model 👍👍👍👍...😊😊 I'm going to have two of them...Might take a couple of weeks to get here.....so what....no big deal....I'll let you know...
Thanks for your support! I do like these things a lot. Same thing happened to me with my B36. Received with a dented rear cab and showed them a video and pictures and they sent me a whole new kit!
Great video, thanks for this! Never thought these slower crawling style trucks would be so fun myself, but now I have two, and I'm runnin them more than my speedy monster trucks!! They also break a LOT less... I approve!! Keep up the great work!
yup, they are what they are, and with some tinkering can be pretty good. yesterday finished near all the LED's in the C-14 budget beast project, all but the reverse lights. if I'd seen Gabriel Silvaz video before, MN-D90 would have got turn signals wired in using a 10A ESC plugged into ch1 with the steering servo.
Great video, very useful information as I want to buy a kit form crawler. I haven't used WPL before but I like the fact they come in kit form. Will be watching other videos, but I reckon WPL could do a scaled 8x8 as that would be awesome. Also subscribed 👍
Thanks for watching! Some have modified wpl trucks to be 8x8. They are a great inexpensive way to try the hobby. Just remember they require patience and tinkering.
Wpl brand loyal...lol Can't say much I stuffed wpl electronics and the wpl 370 2 speed into my mn99s. I wish wpl would come out with a 4 door or 2 door defender
I'm buying my first Wpl B16, well first rc to. My cousin is getting the MAN cabover version. Getting it with the full metal upgrade parts. I want to detail it to be more correct looking since I'm a truck model builder. i saw a set of proper 3D printed wheels offered on a site a month ago, but now the sites gone. Stuck with the metal six hole wheels. Also looking at using the rc pitbull 1/9 Temco NDT military tires if they fit. I went with the metal parts just because I don't know how well the plastic will hold up. I don't plan on rock crawling, not severe anyway, but want to make sure it's reliable.
@@RunThatRC I did. I decided to make it a Canadian army truck since I'm Canadian. They use the big single tires so I won't have to get 11 tires. Those would've costed over $360 if the 1/9 tires would fit. I will use the taller skinnier tires from the Wpl C series.
dont know if you mentioned are they 4wd\6wd or awd? as in like a subaru (awd) or 4wd like a toyota are the axles locked or free... anyway good info helping me make my mind up on which one i will be getting subing for the upgrade vids thanks heaps keep it up
Thanks for your support! Sorry so late with the response. These rigs are solid locked style axles just ring and pinion with no differential. Dont know why I haven't been able to see some comments till I accidentally bump into it.
Watched and liked most of your videos, love your stuff mate, great simple honest reviews. Keep up the great work. You should make a paint weathering video I think?!!! 👀
Thanks! I am not sure if I will be taking the weathering route soon. I like them to look new and get naturally weathered from using the rig. Im sure I will try it though and I sure will document my attempt.
I use to have nothing but 10th scale and bigger RCs. I can tell you the fun I have with these(if you like tinkering and fabricating) is just as much as my bigger toys. Thanks for your support and welcome to the RTR Tribe!
If you want a way more performance metal is the way to go.Those stock plastic gears are the weakest point . With a descent ESC metal gears it will be a good RC Trail Truck. But WPL built the best looking RC Scale Trucks in this size!
Have you got a WPL 1/10 drift truck? I just got one and the first thing I must say is it is so well put together. There is so much you can do with them and they are a lot of fun. Mine cost me $98 Australian from the local RC store.
when GearBest offered the RTR B-1 for 20 bucks free shipping.... oh heck yeah. wasn't happy with dual N20's in the C-14 (3D printed center casing) so it went into the B-1, it also got a set of kit tires, and your simple flex mod. it's still running the stock board with bang-bang steering (little N20's pull very small current). I leave it like that because there's no fear about handing the transmitter to a child to drive it, it isn't fast enough to hurt itself with the pair of 6v 400 rpm N20 motors. right now the frustration is inability to find the tan 5 gear transmission boxes for a single speed 2ch crawling+climbing upgrade, haven't seen them for sale anywhere!
Awesome video! I just subscribed to the channel. My first RC was the C24 as well. I’ve been having a hard time finding wheels for it. Where did you find the wheels and what suspension upgrade kit did you get?
Dude. I started with Heng Long tanks and now you've got me into trucks. Thank you. I'm having great fun with the WPLs and your videos are great light viewing at work on breaks. Check out Gary Hoff's channel sometime. He is scratch building a military truck and has lots of cool tanks, trucks and 3D part maker recommendations.
I actually do not because I tend to mess with these trucks so much that they change a bit. But if your looking for electronics and gearbox advise. I recommend the WPL V3 esc receiver combo and most my WPL are running WPL 2 speed gearboxes as well. None of my trucks have aftermarket suspension. Just cheap to no cost mods sometimes like the leaf spring more flex trick. I have videos on my trucks and sometimes I make new ones with new mods or accessories I just installed.
Question I bought two mn-D90 rigs and the both of them the steering stopped working after the first run now I tried to go to my hobby store they jus blew me off so do u have any tips for someone who’s jus started the hobby plus trying upgrade for a decent price
Did you purchase the mn d90s in RTR? If so you would have to change out the radio system to upgrade it to proportional steering. The front tray should be similar to the wpl stuff and a regular servo the size of the wpl kit servos would fit right in there also you can run a 180 size motor in there for more climbing power. And you can use the wpl transmitter kit I recommend that comes with a battery and esc/receiver combo. That would make your d90s a lot better.
WPL fanatic much. I know you love them, but the whole series. LETS GO POWER RANGERS. Nah good job. What is the main difference between WPL and MN and which is your favorite. Also, when buying any WPL, would you recommend buying the kit as the better option.
I like the mn model land rovers and the with upgrades they are close to the WPLs. I like them both. For wpl I recommend kits specifically KM ones if you can get it.
Saw this video and you should pin a comment or something mentioning that the RTR trucks now come with proportional steering. The only real difference between kit and rtr now are the kit has way better tires (soft) and some kit versions (KM kit) come with all metal parts. Saw this when looking for a WPL originally and it mislead me a bit until i found out they changed the RTR versions.
with oil shocks (A285004) you do have to drill+tap 1/8" from top edge of frame just to the insides of front+rear trays for softness+flex, totally worth doing! you'll also need to weight the front rims. mine will get a WPL tan gearbox if I can find somewhere to buy the little &$#@%&....
Ordered a c-24 kit after getting burned on the c-34 never showing up ....lol. Are there any crucial upgrades you would recommend for the c-24 straight out the box ?
Depending on how tough your going to be on the little rig. I have the metal upgrade kit that comes with metal rind and pinion for the axles and metal driveshafts. That kit was about 33 bucks and I did get the 2 speed gearbox and that makes it crawl even better but not needed as much. The kit 180 motor and new gearbox do a good job and is surprisingly strong. Just dont run it when u notice a plastic driveshaft disconnects because that's how the trans gears get chipped when the driveshafts get caught up in the frame and u give it throttle then snap! But other than those my c24 is holding up find with those upgrades.
Bought a c24 RTR like your blue c24, now the RTR ones do have proportional steering and throttle, been loving it, did the cut tires on yours actually make much difference?
You have a updated version with metal diff gears so I would say cvd driveshafts and 2speed of you have a multi channel transmitter. If you want the 2 speed and don't have a transmitter capable of it then you should look into the WPL V2 or V3 esc, receiver sound kit with light functionality and transmitter.
Did you work out the center axle issue on the B-16? The B-16 kit I just built had a pre-assembled middle axle that appears to be the source of binding. Another issue I have is the driveshaft that connects the motor to the center axle came misshapened. I'll either have to heat it up to bend it which I am guessing will further wreck it or buy the metal upgrade.
Follow up: I came across your videos on the middle axle. I took out the axle, remove wheels just to further isolate variables, and twist middle in rear drives and found somewhere in between those two drives lie the binding. After tinkering I'm pretty sure I need to shim both drive shafts. I think the input gears are jamming into the differential ring gear. Now to find me some shims.
I was able to minimize the problem but not eliminate it. Shimming the gears and trimming the rear most driveshaft helps but the limiter tabs when broken (because they will just break off) causes some of the binding as well because the driveshaft angle. I don't even mess with it anymore. The center axle upgrade is where it's at for me.
yup that loaded center axle dosen't help either imo. Just too much load for the center axle ring gear having two pinions on it. The gearbox to center diff axle is worked hard as well.
So I have about 10 of the wpl c24 I bought them all in RTR form because as soon as I got them I upgraded them with it as much metal parts and new electronics as possible not recommending RTR because kit is definitely better but if you're going to upgrade the immediately then I would just get the RTR
or you can get the KM kits that have the metal upgrades most buy and have a solid truck. Either way learning the truck in and out makes them fun in my opinion.
That's no fun. I had one arrive squished. I just contacted support and they sent me a new one. Sometimes it happens and unfortunately these sellers dont own the shipping companies so they are at the mercy of the shipper.
@@RunThatRC At leat now I have reason to rebuild them. Do you have any recomandations for motor and receiver/esc combo? Should I go for the RES v3 and 370 motor from WPL or should I go for something aftermarket?
People just have different expectations is all. To me they trail around great and provide me with tons of campsite entertainment! Appreciate the support!
I was just wondering how long it took you to get yours I know this video it 3 years old but I ordered mine Sunday and it didn’t tell me when it should get here so I was just wondering
Looks like you will need a esc and receiver and battery. It comes with a servo and a 370 motor for the metal kit. If you need a receiver/ transmitter wpl sells the proportional tx/rx for around 14 bucks and it comes with lights, 500mah batt, esc and controller.
Yes I have. The cheapy tracks you can get everywhere are not good in my opinion. They install only with the right axles unless you mod. And they bind and overheated my electronics. Also it makes the truck even slower. I made a video about a few videos back if you want to check out the video and peoples opinions on it in the comments
