In Legendary, I can easily spend 8 minutes on the first sniping part and the first 2 enemy groups alone. After that it's about another half hour of dying and reloading the next part over and over until I give up.
And the chief even shoots his own teamates to speed up his mission. He's a complete phycopath but the UNSC must turn a blind eye, no wonder doctor Halsey is treated like a war criminal.
The marine at 6:28 sums it up nicely. Those skips are just as crazy as the optimisation on killing everything. I’ve never seen such a fast grav lift segment.
Holy jeez dude, this is bonkers! The last thing I was expecting was a wraith clip and pitch black maneuvering, wow! I'm anxious to see full-game get close to the 1 hour mark in the near future. :)
My fastest run of this mission on legendary was 2 hours. I actually gave up on it when I got to the hanger part and every walkthrough was saying to use the sniper rifle BUT I DIDNT HAVE THE DAMN SNIPER RIFLE. Then I discovered a speed run guide and I though “oh what the heck”. This dude was like ok guys when you get to the hanger part be prepared as this is one of the hardest grenade jumps in the franchise. And I was like “what the fuck is a grenade jump” needless to say it took me like 60 tries because you have to grenade jump 3 times (have to be pixel perfect) and this was my first time with the concept of grenade jumping. (And I grew up with halo). Needless to say I can grenade jump every thing in halo now lol

Also, Im not sure if you knew this but a new technique called "shade boosting" was just discovered yesterday by Joshington and it is applicable to this level for another significant timesave. Also another one on Guilty Spark. :) Hoping to see these records sliced even further!!
That belly skip is sweet! How new is that skip? Also someone explain the finish to me? How'd he get the level end when he entered the bridge, and not clearing the hanger
If the Marines consider you an enemy, they do not talk with you. Therefore the group cutscene never happens and the game ends the level there. If you kill two friendlies while in sight of the other Marines they turn on you. 6:37 - 1st killed Marine 7:13 - 2nd killed Marine.
@@siris4622 It is necessary, yes. That grenade jump skip disables the enemy spawns in front of the switch that ends the level. Since the game detects that there isn't any enemy there, it thinks you killed them, which ends the level
I actually learned a trick for us unfancy folks. Stay at a massive distance and cheese covenant till they're all gone. It works. Just takes for...eh...ver
Halo 3 has been done in under an hour on co-op, here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-akDxYCRCrOk.html. Wouldn't expect solo to be near under an hour unless something major is discovered.
KaRtOoN Current WR is a high 1:13. This skip means the possibility of a high 1:12 is real. Best segments combined is a high 1:10. The only levels that are still over 10 minutes are Library and 2 Betrayals. Figure out a way to skip the entirety of one of those two, and 1:00:00 is possible, but it would have to be a really good skip. Otherwise you need a save of one minute each on every single level, and some of them are so optimized that even with new tech to despawn every enemy and skip load triggers, I doubt you could save much more time. TL:DR? No.
So I'm guessing nobody can really do the speedrun, every video I've seen is someone on pc of course glitching the game by going off map and grenade jumping. Where's the video of someone with actual skill beating the par time without any of these cheats??
