Experience the magic of the Western lifestyle and ride back to the early years of Montana's dude ranches with stories, film and photos from one of the Swan Valley's historical ranches, Laird's Lodge, now the Lindbergh Lake Lodge.
ABOUT THE FILMMAKER
Once a partner in the Chicago HOOP DREAMS production company, Kartemquin Films, Jenny Rohrer founded her own production company, Rohrer Film & Video in 1991. Following 15 years of production work in Washington, D.C., she moved her company to Seeley Lake, Montana in 2003. In her decades of documentary production, Rohrer has produced award-winning, nationally-broadcast documentaries, including Science Held Hostage for the Turner Broadcast System and Golub, a 60-minute film featured on PBS's POV series and at the New York Film Festival. Her 1976 documentary, The Chicago Maternity Center Story, was re-released at the Gene Siskel Film Center in Chicago in 2011 and her 1984 film The Gender Gap Movie was featured at the Film Society of Lincoln Center in 2012. This short film is the first in a series of three films on Montana's Historical Lodges.

We moved to the Swan Valley in 1964 to work at Diamond L Bar Ranch (Laird's Lodge) for Dick Hickey. After leaving there my husband worked at the Condon R.S. (Work Center) for 21 years. I still visit the Swan almost every year. Great memories.

Moved to the Swan in 1996. Hunting, fishing, camping, hiking. The last best place. Being spoiled by money now.

Swan Valley. Amazing. The land is abundant with Sasquatch, so respect their space when you wander off into the Mission Valley Wilderness and Bob Marshall Wilderness. You do NOT want to experience a 10 foot tall 900 pound wildman in your camp. OR at least bring several pairs of underwear.
