I need a new axe for my content. I trust your advice wrangler if you say it’s worth it I’ll have to buy myself one in the coming week or two. Well, it’s forged steel for that price it seems worth it. I’ll put it to the Australian hard wood test!

Waaait so driving a couple of old iron spikes or screwing a few screws into the end to spread the wood further is not the proper repair? 😂 jeez to think I have bought or been passed down so many tools that have had nails or screws driven into the ends and bent over 😂 I just assumed that was the proper way to repair them not to actually replace the handle entirely, see that makes sense and we're not paid to make sense 😂 act accordingly folks

I replaced the handle on a small ball-peen hammer in a similar fashion. No kerf in the top of the handle and just a single, small steel step wedge hammered in. No wood wedge. It's been holding on just fine.

You really should look into the council tool axes. They deserve all the popularity you could bring to them. Hardened poll and use 5160 steel on their wood-craft axe. All for $50 to $70 less than other premium axe brands. Made in the USA.

What is more permanent than a temporary fix that works? Around 10 years ago I "fixed" the power switch on a large commercial Bunn coffee brewer for a friend with a coffee roastery and shop who used it at a weekly street market. I told him that it should at least get him through that market the next morning (nearly midnight at the time) but that he should order a few of the switches to keep on hand... the "fix" is still going and that thing has brewed thousands of gallons.

You put me on the 4 in hand years ago when I was like 15. I’ve been buying them and misplacing them for years and now I have enough that I’ve got one in nearly every tool box. About two months ago my car wouldn’t start at a gas in the middle of no where, I tracked down the issue being some tarnished and corroded battery contact points. The forehand made quick work and I was back on the road.
