I appreciate your candidness with how you like to troll and who you are. It took a while for me to appreciate your sense of humor, but now it absolutely gets me going! Thanks!
I love watches and clocks. Im 29 now and i have alot of watches. To this day i still have my very first watch when i was 5 years old , a Scooby-Doo watch from Walmart back in the day.❤😂 have a wonderful day wranglerstar family. Ps the log cabin is coming together beautifully ❤🎉
Thanks! I have been following your EDC and watch journey for a long time, that's what got me into your channel to begin with. The homesteading videos are also very interesting, however being an eastcoast man doesn't apply to me (yet). Would love to see more of your everyday carry stuff!
I agree 100 percent. "Never criticize a man's hobbies!" Sure, I have a secret watch collection and very few people know that about me but, that's been my thing ever since I was a kid. I do wear one every day (can't stand people that have to look for a phone to know the time) and if I'm on shift, it has to have a mechanical second arm but that's for work things. Thanks for finally posting this one and I can't wait to see what's next.
Daily watch wearer here. I used to fit my watches like your Tuna…and wear them loose and down by the base of my hand. That restricts movement! Completely unwearable when MTB-ing. After getting into automatics a few years back, I learned to wear my watch above my wrist bone. Was weird at first, but I have full range of motion and wrist is much more usable for all sort of activities.
Correct. A TON of people don't like watches because they don't know how to wear them. They are not, and I mean absolutely not supposed to be loose and slinking around. Rule of thumb is above the wrist bone now do ten push ups. If you can't comfortably start push-ups with your watch on you are not wearing it correctly.
@@MrMcGuy rules are changing. as the sizes of the watches evolved from under 34mm to +45mm and now all the sizes are accepted as pleasant if it's on the proper wrist, the same is with the way you wear your watches. you can wear them however you like it and it is pretty weird to wear a dress watch just like you wear a sport one... many of us don't do push ups on a regular basis :))
The Rolex didn't get to the top of the mountain first, Hillery wore a British brand called a smiths, but Rolex lied in the papers the next day and the lie stuck.they gave him a Rolex to wear but he changed his mind and seeing as it was a British funded expedition he wanted to wear a British brand
Hilary wore a smiths watch to the top of the mountain.rolex gave him a watch to wear but he changed his mind and seeing as it was a British funded expedition he wanted to wear a British brand.rolex didn't like this and put it in all the papers the next day and the lie stuck
Explorer is a fave. It can be a one watch collection. Glad you acquired one. Great review of your pieces and discussion of the why. If you like and respect fine work and mechanical things the why is obvious. Thanks for sharing!
You really have to try a G-Shock my friend. Durability and functionality it's the most proho watch you can have. I have many watches of many kinds but when I'm actually doing something tough I always am wearing some version of a Casio.
I recommend any of the G-Shock that are radio synced to the atomic clock (multi-band) and are solar-powered literally indestructible, maintenance free, and always on time
Advice from a jeweler of 15+ years if you're going to change the batteries on your quartz watches please always make sure you throw away the old batteries. I know you most likely always do, but if a small child puts a watch battery in there mouth and swallow it they have 2 hours or less to live especially if the battery is a lithium. I always advise my customers to follow this. Act accordingly brothers and god bless.
Another piece of advice is to take an awl and scrach the date on the battery. It's good practice to do this so you can see the drain of the watch and see if it may need worked on.
The rabbit hole of pocket watches is deep brother my father has a small jewelery shop and he loves pocket watches. Brands to look for. Hamilton, Ball, Illinois (specifically the bunn special) and Elgin. As far as the best in the business Ball and Hamilton are up there with some of the best American watches ever made. They all give me the
@@groverw7507 specifically the lithium has a very violent reaction with liquids especially water. I'd recommend looking up lithium in water videos and you'll see what I'm talking about. Very dangerous
I love wearing a mechanical watch. It just has so much more character and more fun than wearing a smart watch. I want my watch to do one thing. Always be able to tell me the time, regardless of what I'm doing and where I am. And you're right. The Explorer is a any situation watch. Mines never had a issue and it ran for 15 years before I had it serviced and the only reason I had it serviced is because I felt like it. The watch was still running plus or minus a second or two a day. You don't have to spend crazy money to get a solid watch though. I wore a seiko for years and that watch is still running well.
Always a fan of your edc videos! I managed after many years of saving to treat myself to a rolex on my 30th. Ive owned Marathon, Hamilton, Seiko watches in the past as well and have enjoyed them all, my father now wears the Hamilton!
I 100% believe a hamilton is the best bang for your buck watch. I have 5 of them. and 2 of them are over 35 years old. Obviously the rolex is a great watch to have in any collection, even if they consistently loose a bit of time, or at least mine do. I always appreciate a watch that has accomplished a feat, like the oyster perpetual climbing everest. I'd love to see an omega join your collection as well! I think a seamaster or speedmaster (First watch on the moon) would fit you very nicely.
Amazing collection, honestly somewhat jealous. Here are some things I noticed that might make them more enjoyable in the future though: 1:30 a likely reason why the khaki took in condensation, well two really, was that the screw down crown was open or the caseback. I know because I was a bold person who changed their watch’s time in the pool and now I have paid dearly. Another thing 2:55 is a reason the seiko tuna is hard to wear is because the watch is too far up your wrist, typically it is behind the wrist bone. Same thing at 6:40 7:39 Nice, never knew such a thing existed. Pocket watches are beautiful and have immense history. Something you might be interest is a West Clox or Bell Watches. They have immense history in american train conducting. Regardless, beautiful collection and want to see it grow. Cheers ProHo
The explorer is my dream watch for all the reasons you listed. Simplex understated, beautiful design that goes with everything. I’ll own one someday! Yours looks like a 214270 MKI dial!
I fell in love with the Seiko Sports 100 diver back in 1980s and I wore it for 23 years. It finally quit and I switched to G-Shock (a good military watch). Then I wore the Seiko Men's SSC021 Solar Diver Chronograph for a few years and now, a Citizen Eco-Solar GMT Diver 200 Titanium with a beautiful blue dial. My dad wore Tissot and Omegas, we still have them. I wish I could send you photos!
I like watches when going out. For some reason I like the Swiss Army watches as well, I have two. Also the Victorinox, have two of those as well. Not a big fan of smart watches, they seem like they could lead to frustration, and maybe cancer one day. Neat to see your collection, glad you shared it! God bless!
Some really good field watches in this collection and most are affordable. I’d take the Hamilton in for repair because they are good. Smart “watches” are toys are ok for kids. The Rolex Explorer is a great watch and probably the only one I would buy.
I'm one of the dying breed of watch wearers, and I've only ever had one watch, well one at a time. My collecting hobby is guitars, not expensive ones, player grade 2nd hand car boot finds that I buy and restore into top tier instruments. You're correct about men and hobbies, every man really needs 2 things,, a hobby and a good shed.
Only things to critique about this video are: I wish you would have the camera non-mirrored so that the watches looked like how you see them yourself. The other thing I wish was done are maybe some B-Roll of the watches up close to see the watch faces, cases, stems, and watchband or bracelet (if they are original to the watch). Beyond that though, I appreciate you taking the time to put out a video of your watches. It is a fascinating topic and Watches that I do not own currently but look forward towards getting are: Citizen Homer Second Setting Japan Railway watch 21 Jewels Seiko Prospex Spring Drive GMT Hamilton (not sure on model yet, but it would need to be one of the old military looking models and I prefer mechanical over quartz) IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XV Automatic (1998-1999) 21 Jewels
So true, Cody! I hate watches that require a charge. Complicated. I wear an ARES, Diver 1, mechanical. Wouldn’t trade it for anything. Great collection. Btw, that Rolex Sub, gold is over $20G used. Don’t lose it!
Agreed. I love the aesthetics of mechanicals though. I bought a TH Formula 1 Red Bull a few months ago on a cruise then immediately bought the same watch as you. Charging my samsung every 24 hours was annoying. But the functions of the Garmin is fantastic. Only wish it had the In Reach SOS feature.
That happens when you film with the front camera on your phone. It's an easier filming experience if you're looking at a mirror image rather than the actual camera view.
Greetings from Ireland. I have the two tone Rolex with the bracelet, it's a great investment but for everyday use I have a fairly inexpensive Orient Blue Ray dive watch. I've had it in swimming pool's and hot tubs and shower with no problems, I've been wearing it for about six years now, it also has the day and date function which I like.
Happy father's day. I hope the solar keeps up the battery for you. I had a solar powered watch I wore for years, then I switched to a night shift and barely saw the sun so it couldn't keep up anymore.
@@sketch2002 Thank you. I’m not sure how it works, but they say it will work for 6 months in pure darkness fully charged. 3.5 hours in interior lighting is enough to charge the watch for a day of use. They do recommend occasionally putting the watch in direct sunlight.
I want to design a watch that's powered by the sadness of leftist blue haired feminists. It would be so powerful, you could power your house, charge your car battery, and use the residual power to live as old as Moses
I have a pretty decent size collection of watches from Swiss auto’s to vintage mechanical windups to quartzes that I’ve amassed over the past 30 years. I’ve always thought the original Citizen Nighthawk was one of the best watches you can buy. The Eco-Drive never fails. That Nighthawk always keeps perfect time, you don’t have to worry about getting in water with it, and it’s built to last. Happy Father’s Day and congrats on your Citizen!
Outstanding collection my brother! ...My "prized/favorite" watch in my little collection is my Victorinox (Swiss Army) I.N.O.X. auto. Built like a tank, affordable and a work horse of a swiss movement. Thanks for sharing and may the Father continue to watch over & bless you and your house. Shalom
Just the prefect watch video 👌🏻 enjoy the good things in life and don’t be a shamed by your own success. couldn’t agree more with you. Not to different from my own collection actually. But be careful using a automatic movement when driving motorcycles or hard work. Impact work and vibration can cause the movement too fail on you. And the thing I love most about watches is it’s the one thing you have on your body for decades and that you attach memories too. And take care of it and you kids can have the pleasure to have them after you’re gone. Much respect and great wishes from us here in Norway.
I have a few, newest one is a Casio Oceanus 200-SB, amazing thing, I love it. A pile of older Seikos, I love them dearly. An SKX that I bought as my first mech watch and inherited many quartz dress watches. Currently putting a little away for a Rolex Air-King. Dad always loved the brand, don't know what happened to his so I want to buy one as a little reminder on the wrist. Glad you sis this video! Also amazing to have as thoughtful as a lovely wife as Mrs. W to think of you like that. The tuna is fantastic! I have a reproduction of the 70's mechanical model.
I'm having my great grand pops and great uncles pocket watched overhauled and rebuilt due to this video. Grandads pocket watch is an Elgin brand American made in Illinois. I believe it's from the 1940s, not earlier. My great uncle's pocket watch is a Waltham brand, American made in Massachusetts. Not the date on when it was made, though. Hope to get them both running and working correctly.
I recently got into watches and by far my favorite is my casio pro trek. 380 dollars. Multi band 6 and tough solar so it is always accurate and charged. It has so many features to where I could see a proho finding day to day use with it. 10/10 recommend since it is designed for outdoors.
Fix Dad’s watch. It’s you best watch. Followed by the Tuna. The story is the best part and family stories are the best. And the shared watch is awesome for your son. Get your names engraved or something like that. A father and son watch is extra special. (I love Rolex, they’re so classic and great, but the family connection is so special.
I’m with ya on the cuffs. Been a roll up gloves guy always. Can’t wear jewelry. Wear the ring once in awhile. Several watches that sit in the drawer. Although I have been wearing an Apple Watch lately 😮
Oh man I love my Garmin Fenix 7X Sapphire! Crazy good battery. I charge once every couple weeks. It’s definitely a fitness watch, though. Mainly good for running/cycling and health monitoring. It’s a great tool.
Some lovely watches. I really need to get batteries put into the ones I have that are all dead. I normally hate wearing any watch, but I can't deny the style factor.
It’s your money. If you like it have at it brother! I’m a watch guy to and I picked up an Omega a couple of years back and caught hell for it from guys who would gladly pay way more than I did for what they wanted. Have at it Brother!!!!
If your watch is flopping around on your wrist, then you need to take the time to adjust the band...the band should be snug enough on you wrist to firmly hold your watch in place no matter how big or heavy it is...when i discover this, i started to wear all my large size seikos comfortably...by the way your Tuna is a beautiful iconic watch in the seiko line.
My parents gave me my grandfathers pocket watch, which they bought for him Christmas of 1980. I was named after my grandfather. It doesn't see a whole lot of usage but definitly one of my favorites.
My uncle Paul has had a submariner for the last 35-40 years. I have wanted one since the first time he let me wear it when I was 8 or 9 years old. I have never bought one but it has been the pinnacle of my watch desire. Maybe when I retire in 20 years I’ll treat myself to one.
That Seiko Conductor though! I also have a small wristwatch collection and have been in the mood to revisit pocket watches. My current favorite is whatever I’m wearing today! Love my old school Seiko 5s from before the rebrand.
Nice collection! I like my Garmin Instinct, it’ll go 1-4 weeks (depending on logging my rucks), the LCD screen makes it last longer. But I agree on the charging, I wish I got the solar version.
My fenix 7 lasts 18 days. Barely charge it 2 times a month. I’m with you. I can’t take the charging. That’s why I choose Garmin over Apple. I can deal with 18+ days charge. Can’t beat a Rolex tho.
The Rolex Explorer is a cracking 50th gift, its on my list too !! For beating around the farm i have the Casio MRW200 , its only around 20USD on Amazon and it can take a beating, although the factory strap will not last long. I like your Nato straps too Cody.
Well Cody, because of your watch appreciation I bought an Orient Kamasu JDM in green, of course I put a NATO band on it. I love this watch, and it has been worn everyday and abused a bit, but it keeps on. Cheers! PS I too looked hard at “Smart Watches “ too, but the recharging and the software obsolescence just put me off.
Ah man, there's something about tool watches that just makes me happy. I've also got a Marathon CSAR, and it's indestructible. The grail for me is the Sinn UX, simply because it's so hilariously overbuilt. 5,000m diving depth is utterly useless to me, but man is it cool.
My top 3 from latest to oldest: Seiko SBGA413 aka the Shunbun with the pink dial, bought on my first trip to Japan with the family last year. Marathon GSAR grey maple, gift from my parents reminding me of my Canadian heritage. Tudor BB58, bought with my wife while traveling Europe. All of them have special meaning. Been obsessing over a Explorer too and I think that one should be for my 50th bday too.
I have been wearing a Casio Pathfinder PAW-5000-1 a lot lately. Solar and atomic time with ABC functions that do not require a phone connection. Found it NOS at Goodwill for $100. I put a tempered glass crystal protector on it to protect the mineral glass.
I was anti smartwatch for years. I got one and I actually love it. I also have one that only needs a charge about once every two weeks. But I can't lie, I do loathe the proprietary charger that must be used with it!
Carrying a pocket watch is the one thing I’ve never thought of. 😂 I think that will be nice to free my wrist without losing a chance to have a watch on me. Thanks for the good perspective.
I’m a watch guy, but I love the Casios. I have 3 square Gshocks, and a handful of the cheap digital Casios like F91w and others. I love collecting them and swapping them around. I also have a Casio marlin Duro, it’s kind of a knockoff submariner, and I like swapping out NATO straps on that one, but it is a little big and heavy for everyday use, kind of like your Seiko Tuna. Something about the value and quality of Casio gives me a lot of joy. I wear a GW-M5610 most of the time, I’m talking I shower with it, I wear it to bed, I never take it off unless I’m putting something else on for that day, then it the evening time it goes right back on. I’ve had it for 3 or 4 years now. It’s solar and automatically syncs to the atomic clock every night, so it’s always true time down to the second, I just love it.
Great collection. My go to brand is Hamilton. I’m a bit upset about your Kaki. The Frogman by Hamilton is my favorite and not near my most expensive. It’s very skookum!!!!
Picked up a Seiko “King Turtle” PADI addition earlier this year. Such a great watch! I dig the pocket watch but I have “a phobia” to stuff in my pockets.
Hamilton makes some of the absolute best watches you can buy for the money. If it doesn’t have a screw down crown, swimming is a bad idea regardless of what the water resistance may or may not be. If you want a watch to swim with you oughta make sure it has a screw down crown.
I also have a Garmin Fenix sapphire (6th edition) I think yours is the 5. I get about 2 weeks on a charge. The latest model now has solar so I think charging is becoming less of an issue, but I’m right there with you about the proprietary charger. It certainly beats the Apple Watch, which only gets a couple days per charge.
When I first came across your channel it was on tiktok you were doing a review of the hamilton watch. It's unfortunate that the Hamilton didn't hold up to the water so I might have to reconsider.buying one, but it sure is a nice looking watch.
VERY SERIOUS... you should give the new garmin watches a shot.. my MARQ Captain charges once a week while I'm in the shower. right now, the watch has 87% charge which says it will function as is for 15 days.
amzwatch You are so well-informed about luxury watches. You've obviously done your due diligence and the comparison to the US is very informative...because of course, I live in New York. thank you very much
I have several great watches, but my favorite is still the Marathon gsar onnthe bracelet. It's just the perfect watch to me. I also have a Seiko skx011j on a super engineer bracelet that I love to wear when I want to be a little fancy.
My wife bought me a used 36 mm two-tone Rolex for our wedding day which is my favorite item in the world. We just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary and she had bought me a brand new 41 mm two-tone Wimbledon dial Rolex datejust. The best part is that I got to go to the dealers office and take delivery personally with a bottle of champagne. I wear these watches every single day of my life...one or the other.
For less expensive option , i loved my kinetic seiko back in the day but broke it , i do have a nice gold citizen nighthawk its solar and real sweet actually , i rememeber sitting on grandpas lap watching baseball games my grandpa always wore a citizen watch . I do have a gold pocket watch pretty sweet too , that rolex explorer is pretty nice !
