Side story to the DX performance at WM14. Apparently Vince McMahon encouraged and liked the performance because he believed the DX band doing the anthem so bad would give DX members Triple H and Shawn Michael's nuclear heat and booed out of the stadium during their matches. This was confirmed by DX Band's lead singer in an interview in 2007
Bret Hart I believe, indirectly inspired the name when he during a promo, referred to certain wrestlers that he was feuding with at the time as a bunch of "degenerates". Although, according to Triple H, Shane McMahon formally came up with the "D-Generation X" name itself after hearing Bret Hart's "degenerates" promo.
Rey Mysterio's Wrestlemania 26 entrance was also edited. Due a malfunction, Rey's entrance was botched which resulted in Rey being delayed and the Pyro going off prematurely.
It's ridiculous to pretend Benoit never existed. It's one thing to acknowledge him, it's a completely different thing to honor or praise him. Just because we can remember someone like Hitler doesn't mean we are celebrating him. Similarly, just because we remember Benoit as a wrestler it doesn't mean we are celebrating him.
I think people liked him because he's a wrestler and his legacy. I mean why no one likes Hitler? He did a good thing like protecting the animals from getting abuse and punish the person?
As long as they don't erase entirely his matches from official VOD on WWE Network I'm ok with not mentioning Benoit on official marketing, it's fair game to this point He was there, he won the belt at WM 20 and the Royal Rumble in 2004 and everything he accomplished before and shortly after, he had amazing matches that everyone has the right to enjoy to certain extent, let them exists for the sake of historical accuracy and call it a day Never forget that Randy Orton, that is an accomplished superstar to this day, can't even mention his first major World Championship win in WWE because it was against Benoit. Before the tragedy he bragged for years about being the youngest World Champion in history, it was part of his Legend Killer persona
Fun bit about Piper's half-blackface thing ... Andre the Giant poured the cleaning solution Piper was going to use to get that crap off him down the sink at the venue as a rib. It took Piper three weeks to get that stuff off his body.
He is a pos that is burning in hell.F him.WWE did the right thing and erased him, even AEW and other companies don't mention him cause its bad press that nearly destroyed wrestling.
It was always baffling to me that Vince was so furious at Mickie for her ad-libbing, and WWE was so adamant in editing out that moment on a PPV, when during that era they were airing far worse stuff on their standard cable shows each week.
Did you say Vince McMahon was furious about Mickey J's gesture and follow up move? That's right up his (and Mr Laryngitis') alley. I"m sure his problem was that HE didn't think of it but you'll never convince me that he doesn't have a constant loop of it somewhere in his office.
Yea because they don't wanna support a psycho child murderer and I'm more than good with that. I don't understand why ppl still support Benoit. Saying you separate the wrestler from the person is a cowards way of saying I still like this child murderer idc. Not saying you said that but that's what a lot of ppl try to justify it with
@@tyran5630 they were right. my mom worked as a Trauma Nurse and i showed her a photo of the brain scan and told her whose it was and what he did and even she said high impact like being dropped on your head like that does in fact have that happen to your brain
Saw Mickey J's crutch grab & lick it gesture live on PPV., everyone remembered her bit more than the majority of all else on that show. We were all Mickey fans after this ❤
When triple h & shawn michaels went one on one in the main event at wrestlemania 20 & the title seem to go vacant at the end of the match with eddie Guerrero coming out to celebrate with a floating world title 🥲 great memories
Last night shoulda been erased… how great of a moment would it have been for Cody to hold the belts up while Sami and KO hold theirs up after fighting off the usos
As much as Chris Benoit should be condemned for what he did, I think it’s important to remember him because of how poorly older wrestlers took care of their bodies and the consequences of it like how they show brutal car accidents in road safety videos. It’s important to remember horrible events to stop them from happening again. WWE doesn’t have to acknowledge him and shouldn’t but he shouldn’t be completely erased from history and instead be used as a lesson in the dangers of steroid usage and the damage that sports can inflict on an athletes body.
except their way of doing business actually encouraged the talent to have to go about reacting to the WWE lifestyle challenges that way. It is thus an embarrassment on several levels of internal company shame.
I think it makes more sense to show the consequences of not taking concussions seriously. He killed his wife and son and lost the entire legacy that he spent his life building. The consequence is that all the good he did before can no longer be acknowledged because it cost the lives of three people. No accomplishment is worth the tragedy he caused, and I think that’s what people need to be reminded of when they think of him, because all those great moments in his career are completely hollow when you think of what it eventually cost.
@@mr.battle20i agree that he didn’t die for WWE, he died because OF WWE. the diving headbutt(not sure if it was a move he used before WWE.) caused a lot more damage to him than it did his opponent, gave him CTE and what not, had Eddie not died i believe Chris and his family still would be simply because Eddie was a huge rock in his life, that’s just my opinion though.
Isn't "America the Beautiful" a song that's in the public domain? So why is WWE so concerned about having to pay Ashanti in royalties when she didn't write it?
I know wat Chris done was unspeakable and sad but just to erase his whole wrestling legacy is bloody stupid..he was an 4ever will be one of the best technical wrestlers there will ever be.
Benoit isn’t being erased from history, and he’s not being wiped from the WWE archives, just to calm anyone who thinks that’s whats going on. The video footage is the product that they sell, and you don’t want a murderer on your product. It’s no different from Subway scrubbing all the ads to remove Jared. At the end of the day, wrestling is a product. I actually feel really lucky to live in a time where everything is recorded, even if it is edited.
I am pretty certain that at Wrestlemania 20 when Austin was leaving the ring he got out and asked the guy to throw him a beer but I believe one of the beers smacked him straight in the forehead so Austin just turned around, got onto his quad bike thing and just drove off. I tried watching this again but it seems to be edited on newer copies of the match.
My personal oppinion is that I think they should acknowledge the fact that Benoit was a great performer, & keep him in the moments that he was in, just no further mention about him, just have whst he had in his time here..as a performer amazing, as a person...amazing...until the tragedy😢
Fun Fact: At Wrestlemania 37, AJ Styles also slipped on the ramp as soon as he came out for his match eith Omos against The New Day. He didn't go down but he did the full banana peel slide. However, not many people even noticed although it's blatantly obvious and WWE didn't remove the slip from playback footage.
They ereased one of the greatest moment in wrestling, While understandable, It's still sad to think that it won't acknowledge by WWE and other people due to the situation what happened years later.
@@ferst262 At the broadcast time, guess what? He was a wrestler. It's one thing to have a hush policy to not reference him again, it's another to go back and actively change footage.
wwe network on peacock removed the match and video of roddy pipper of him with half painted face is the dumbest crap ever i was at wm26 and remember seeing that with swagger
This is why I don't watch anything on the wwe network. The original release dvds, blu rays have all the uncut scenes available. Especially on the Silver Vision edition aka British releases. Micky James move is still on the original DVD, so is Chris Jericho's middle finger, Pipers black and white match. So is the DX America the beautiful. The network has so much editing, it's horrible...The German version of wrestlemania 12 shows HBK shaking hands with Bret Hart's dad after the match.
The DX Band's rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner" at WrestleMania might as well have made Fergie's version at the 2018 NBA All-Star Game look like Whitney Houston at Super Bowl 25 in comparison.
Really Can't Erase It Because It Happened And Even Tho Benoit Did That Too His Family Mixed With Emotions From Eddies Death And A Concussion. Chris Is One Of The Baddest Technical Wrestlers Of My Generation Yea I Was Born 95 Two Years Before The Famous Attitude Era And The Third Year Of The Next Generation Era And Grew Up During Attitude And Ruthless Agression. 💯🌷

Michael Cole giving away the winner, is the only one on here I agree with erasing. The rest, I'd wish they'd preserve. Warts and all, it's for history's sake. I'm glad videos like this exist.
I remember when Wrestlemania 23 opened LIVE! The camera feed closed in on JR & Jerry Lawler… with JR clearly looking down, reading his script before looking back at the camera. On the DVD it’s re-edited at the crowd before cutting to JR.
I don’t think it’s right to erase what the artiest did in the ring and I’m still saying the triple threat for the world heavy weight championship at Wrestlemania XX, Shawn Michaels vs Triple H vs Chris Benoit is a top 5 favorite of mine
WWE could use his footage as a learning tool. Not to use steroids. You scare when using finishing moves that do more harm to yourself than your opponent.🤔
I absolutely agree with you. I remember bawling my eyes out in that wrestlemania. It was the most emotional moment I’ve ever seen and I’ve been watching for 30 years. Despite the aftermath of what Chris did it cannot take away from the magical moment that that wrestlemania provided with Eddie and Chris both winning the titles.
Well the Chris Benoit stuff definitely should be erased. It doesn't matter how good of a wrestler he was, what he did will always overshadow it no matter what way you look at it. Like that clip of him hugging his kid and wife is just uncomfortable to watch considering he kills them 3 years later
@@____Nairod____ I don't get that but if you feel that way okay. But besides that nothing of him should be erased at all if his family is not involved. First and foremost he was a wrestling character - I don't see the human behind the gimmick, the human is dead after all and can't say anything to it and it doesn't matter to me what an unbelievable murder asshole he was in that moment which changed everything. I just separate the gimmick from the human. I don't know if anything more was erased because the wwe network is full of missing segments and just rewriting history.
These edits and this flat out censorship is why I won't subscribe to the bird version of WWF/E I know some edits were made to the DVD/Blu-Ray releases but at least I still have Piper Vs Bad News Brown. The one edit that never made sense to me was the DVD version of WrestleMania IV cut out a big portion of the Piper's Pit segment where he rips off the skirt of Brother Love. Makes no sense. We need to stop making edits for the so-called /modern audience/ that wasn't even around when a lot of this stuff was happening.
Not WrestleMania related but.....if i remember correctly,,,SummerSlam 1988 was the first official SummerSlam but there seems to be one before that in 1987, and it seems that WWE ( at that time WWF ) just refuse to show anything from that show.. Anyone got more information on this topic?
Don't care what anyone else reckons Benoit was one the greatest in ring entertainers and talents..it's pathetic to not recognize that and the fact that wwe kept their part in the whole saga quiet...
That's untrue about WWE editing out Benoit's celebrations with his family at Wrestlemania 20. That never aired even during the live broadcast & is instead from Benoit's Hardknocks DVD.
WWE has pretty much muted any and all times icp is preforming or talking in the arena. Lol. They only have a couple promos WWE allows to be heard or even seen. Any other time u can tell they are rapping or talking but u can't hear them. Lol. They muted icp's voices on the oddities entrance song too
At Wrestlemania 13 on several DVD sets, a good portion of the Legion of Doom and Ahmend Johnson VS. The Nation of Domination was edited out due to a legit noose being involved.
Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one who completely agrees on how Chris Benoit is handled. I don’t care if he put on show stealers, I don’t care if he was a fantastic wrestler, I don’t care if a moment was good. I care that he murdered his wife and child. Anyone who could harm a child, let alone kill? Should be fucking forgotten, erased from the public consciousness.
What happened to Chris Benoit was a terrible shame he was a broken sad unhappy man 😢. I miss him he had great matches 2004 Royal rumble SummerSlam was amazing. I know what he did was unforgivable but I still miss him I still love Chris I need him you can’t forget him not matter how much you wanna try. Every time you think of Chris you just wanna cry you just wanna die you can’t lie you miss him we all need him he is wrestling Chris is that guy you wanna give a hug to you wanna say I love you . Chris Benoit nearly brought the whole wrestling world to an end. You can’t live without him I just wish he was still here I don’t care what anyone says I will always miss and love Chris Benoit. I wanted to say goodbye to him alone he was my favourite wrestler and now he was gone I LOVE YOU BROTHER AND IM SURE GONNA MISS YOU
Vince isn’t gone lol UFC is merging with WWE to form a new company of which Vince is the executive VP and CEO of the new company, with both Nick Khan and Dana White answering to him. Only Ari Emmanuel is higher than Vince.
WWE or anyone else doesn't need to have the rights to the original in order for them to have their own rendition of it by their own star playing it. They could show him playing it all they want forever. Has to be another reason.
In like 02, i went to a show in Red Deer and some young guy jumped the barrier during Stone Cold's Corner beer drinking part of his entrance. The security flew into there so quick and were so rough with the skinny 20 ish guy, n he was just being a drunk fool and Steve got them to chill and gave the kid a slam of beer beforw more nicely removing him.
