Just something to be aware of… If you post your far hand on the mat, the defensive wrestler should grab that wrist, and use his whizzer to pressure down and simultaneously lift his inside leg. This will set you on your hip and he is now in positional control. When you meet this resistance on the single, it is better to grab your own wrist and push your palm to the floor behind his knee and tripod up, step over the far leg, then you are in a position to shelf the leg and finish. I did it the way he was showing up until I got into higher levels of wrestling competition. Then it was imperative to do it the way I am describing. The way I am describing is the fundamental way that I was popularized by John Smith and taught by my collegiate coach who wrestled with John Smith on the 1988 Olympic team.

@@TheSpasticShow yeah I didn’t cover that in a lot of detail on my own page, so I can make a more detailed one on when you’re really getting sprawled on. But I discussed it briefly and showed it from when you started to beat the corner (with your palm on that mat) here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5_vZy4cZ5n4.html

Is this the same technique where the placido 'beef' stemmed from?
@josephbreza-grappling9459
@josephbreza-grappling9459 5 месяцев назад
@@zaidamien2743pretty similar. Except what was shown on the other video is that you’re gonna somehow lift your head back up and regain height/posture. Damien is circling behind, which is actually a much more realistic option, but posting gives me the wrist, which I can do a lot with. When he doesn’t post his hand, I actually have less defensive options and the John Smith finish is very hard to counter when someone understands how to do it right. But post that hand and now I have an entire arsenal of stuff and anything you try to do afterwards is the wrong answer

at 7:27 you cant prevent the opponent posting on the mat by removing under hook and just hold his wizzer this is a very strong and underated move , you can mix this by going it directly using the john wayne sweep Also everytime someone try to darce you you just maintain his wizzer and john whyne sweep him easely you will look like a pro jedi lol

Good stuff, good teacher. But dear lord, I wish people would stop with the nonsense Japanese. Doesn't help at all. Ko soto means small outside. Saying outside hook makes so much more sense. Just makes it unnecessarily more complex to teach this stuff.

If you can learn Americana, Kimura, Ezekiel, Estima, Sao Paulo, anaconda, D'arce, or any of the other terms for techniques that aren't expressly descriptive of a technique (though as you note, the Japanese is actually descriptive if you speak it), you can learn kosoto, juji, sankaku, ashi garami, or any of the other Japanese terms Danaher and his offshoots tend to use just as easily. (Though if it wasn't obvious by my name, I'm a weeb and so Japanese just isn't as confusing to me as it is to other people, so grain of salt and all that.)
