There is so much opportunity to make sports more immersive with drones and audio but the networks don’t seem interested. They could really grow their fan base if they tried.

Saw a similar one done for Yankees Stadium, I believe in partnership with T-mobile rolling out 5G.

Props to the pilot and whoever choreographed it because I've seen some bad GoPro videos from the team and this one ain't it.

It's the sound that's boggling my mind. Drones are loud, especially from the perspective of the drone.

Sound is added in post processing. Otherwise it’d just be drone noise

I visited am fam field last year, had a great experience there too!

The “piloting” is very impressive. However, the quality of the video not so much with a special call out for relatively poor dynamic range.

Yea you can clearly tell it was stiched together with a cheap piece of software. look at the door it flies through at 2:50. It isn't even the same perspective. Also it turns into a camera guy running with the player at the end. A neat perspective but hardly top 10 of all RU-vid. Donut Media could have done better.

Fenway is a dump compared to Wrigley. 😮

My feelings exactly, I'm currently looking to purchase a new drone and was curious as to the make and model? And yes, the editing was flawless.

Just had to write to a client who sent this video as a reference, so here's the conversation. :) As you know most of the flight and control equipment are custom designed and sourced, and the pilots have a limited flight time to prevent nausea and disorientation. Based on the footage you sent of the Wrigley Field/Chicago Cubs film, we are thinking the actual costs would be MUCH higher, as it will most likely involve a full production team, VFX and sound. Please allow me to explain our reasonings below. For the editing, based on the Wrigley Field/Chicago Cubs film, it is a complicated process. It won't just require editing, it would require additional VFX work to morph the cut points. In the film, there are at least 7 cut points. The entire video is stitched and digitally VFX morphed from at least 7 different flights at atleast the following timestamps in the video. 0:58 1:38 2:08 2:36 2:53 3:08 3:29 (jumps to next day and non FPV, gimbal footage) From 3:29 onwards it is no longer a FPV drone, but simply a steadicam or gimbal footage with a cameraman running along with the player across the field. We can see this from the rolling shutter and vibrations of the frame. The reason for the cuts is NOT the skill of the pilot, but simply the transmission range for the drone's radio. The signal will not pass through think walls, metals or concrete. So it will be physically possible to the fly the above flightpath at once, because the signal will be out-of-range at multiple points. You can see at the points such as the wall climb, fly into tunnel, fly into metal score board structure, flying into the office, the intercuts are very clear, and these are the signal choke points. As you can see with the crowd coordination in the Wrigley Field footage, most of the crowd have "marks" and are coordinated to do their movements in sync with the flightpath. This involves at least a ground crew of 4-5 persons. Each production and camera assistant will have to have live footage feed from the drone in order to know the timing and precision (most likely via a remote share from the pilot's camera to each assistant's phone). Some of the sounds are actual crowd sounds, but others are recorded at location. Some are broadcast sounds from the actual news reporter's segment. So we would need some dedicated sound team at location and sound editing afterwards, if we are to capture the precise sound range as needed. Notwithstanding the Wrigley Field footage, for Fairtex film, the first primary factor will be the cost for getting flight permits. X is few kilometers from the Airport, which is a no fly zone and restricted area. And the X road is directly opposite the X City Hall (which is a government area and will be heavily regulated). So we have to factor in the costs and time taken for getting permits for all the areas. The permit cost for beach be a different cost as they are under the City Municipality jurisdiction and not the City traffic police. We will need practice flights for the stadium and interiors on a non-working day (depending on the final story brief). While the FPV pilot's fee will be inclusive, additional cost would be required for accommodation, food and travel. We will definitely have to do scouting trips of both venues and map the entire place digitally a couple of times. Usually we are creating 360 maps of the entire venue beforehand, and measuring our signal strengths as well.
