There is a wrong way and right way to write a provisional patent application. In this video, inventor-friendly patent attorney Damon Kali drops some extremely useful insight, including what not to do, the importance of storytelling, and why you shouldn't adopt the mindset of an attorney. If a 6 year-old understands what you have written, you are on the right track.

I'm sorry about the sound. Damon had an echo in his new office and we did our best to edit the audio to take out the echo, but i totally agree....... Not good enough. I'm a stickler for good audio. Won't happen again.

Hey, thanks! But, please inform us on this: :-) Trying to license a PPA means disclosing it to people (while it is just a PPA). HOW to write the PPA in order for the idea to still be patentable in other countries, not just the US.

Hi Matei. That's a really good question. We outline different scenarios for what you can do when your provisional patent application is about to expire here: www.inc.com/stephen-key/what-to-do-when-your-provisional-patent-application-is-about-to-expire.html Please understand we are not attorneys and this is a legal question best suited for a patent agent or attorney.

@@raquelt5342 Hi, no I didnt receive a response, I'm sure you need to file a ppa for whichever country you're looking to license your product in though. I just filed my first ppa through the uspto and it was fairly painless.

Is it just as good to file a PPA online or is it better to file with a attorney?

If you are filing a PPA with the US Patent and Trademark Office, notice the address bar (URL) with an orange triangle in your Firefox browser, and after clicking on the "i" next to it, you will see that the connection is not secure. As of this posting (3 March 2020), the site STILL is insecure. I did an extensive amount of research and posted the results in a report, "The gaping security hole in a US Government website", which can be found at Inventors Assistance Center at www.inventorsassistancecenter.biz/help-with-your-invention. My advice to everyone is to read this report and file elsewhere.

If part of what you are trying to patent comes from a spcecific store do you include that in the provision? Or do you just tried to describe the item as best as you can? I have just a few small questions for a lawyer and don’t have $1000 to ask them 😫😫

I usually absolutely enjoy your videos, but this guy is totally wrong about 'telling your story in a PPA! USPTO specifically says DO NOT tell how you came up with the invention! It's not relevant to the process. They don't care about any personal fluff and stuff...
@inventRight
@inventRight Год назад
First of all thank you for commenting Robert. The USPTO does not even look at your PPA. They don’t open it. Please watch this video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pLf4HC8BJks.html Thank you.
