The great part about fallout is that you totally can just make a show about "just another mook" The wasteland has many stories to tell and the "main characters" from the old games are indeed just people.

The noseless guy in the Fallout trailer is a 'ghoul'. A person who was made effectively immortal (from aging) by the atomic radiation of the blast. Some are 'survivors' of the original exchange 200ish years prior. Most ghouls have lost their minds to time and degeneration and are considered feral and behave like you would imagine a zombie would. But there are also many who have retained their faculties and are just trying to get by like anyone else, though they do face discrimination because people are afraid they might turn feral.

The Fallout show doesn't follow the plot of any one game from the Fallout franchise, it's a brand new story taking place at the latest point in the Fallout universe, thus the directors have pretty much full creative control on the plot. :)

To me, I am hopeful Fallout will be good. It is a series set in the world of Fallout. I dont expect it to be directly telling the story of a fallout game. Fallout games are all telling the story of different vault dwellers at different times in different locations so its not as story bound as Last of Us is to its main characters

Can't believe the actress for Tiny Tina in the borderlands live action series is the same actress who played Kid Gamora and Ahsoka also played Jenna Ortega's sister from Disneys sitcom show stuck in the middle also played a character Sasha in the 2023 Barbie movie.

The Fallout TV Show was so good, they really did that right ! Show is not following any game sotries, but it continues their lore with a completely new story, but it is so relatable, much better than The Last of Us.

Fallout isn't based on any of the games and is an original story, but they nailed the setting. I've been a fan of Fallout since the start, but as immediately recognizable as the show is as Fallout I'm keeping my expectations low. I really want it to be good... As for Borderlands...well the trailer didn't do anything for me. I feel like it's trying too hard to be Guardians of the Galaxy instead of standing on it's own, but to be honest the Borderlands games were never that deep to begin with. So I guess we'll see. However, if you want to check out an amazing Borderlands story, take a look at Tell Tale Game's Tales From the Borderlands. It's amazing and one of my favorite games of all time.

Fallout trailer is great, cast lookign great, and they might go for their own story and not tangle with already exist canon one. Borderland design is great but the cast is...very VERY VERY ODD. Roland (Kevin character) is not that short, Tiny Tina (Ariana) personality isn't crazy or loony enough, Lilith (Cat) is...too old like way too old, but from what I see is other characters does look fitting especially Jack Black voice and Krieg the masked psycho. Even the bandits, psycho, Marcus, Atlas soldier, and world is looking better than main cast. It's just...super odd to see the cast playing as these characters.

So glad Ella Purnell got the lead role for Fallout. You probably recognize her as the voice of Jinx in both League of Legends (the game) and Arcane. She's also one of the main characters in Yellowjackets, which is a show we should all bully Hanna into watching.

As someone who played Fallout Tactics, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and Fallout 4, I can definitely say that I am excited for the Fallout TV show. The great thing about Fallout is that there's a lot of stories to tell. There's lots of vaults made and each vault has their own twisted experiments made by Vault-Tec (The company behind the vaults where they experiment on vault dwellers). I'm pretty sure that Vault 33 (The one in the show) would be no different to the experiments.

Last of Us was a liner game. So, it is much easier to translate directly into a mini-series. Fallout is a sandbox game. You ran around and had your adventure in random order, but there are a few road markers that could tie a mini-series to the game, but I think they are making a whole new Vault/Storyline.

The Borderlands trailer hurts my soul. Ever time I watch it I die a little inside. If you have not tried the games; I would highly recommend trying them. They are fun games to play. Especially the second installment.

The fallout show takes place 9 years after fallout 4 and its set in California where fallout 1,2 and new vegas take place and those games were not made by Bethesda so this is the first time they are going explore that area for themselves. So far amazon has gotten everything correct as far as the look and feel of fallout. Cant wait!

there are several games of fallout and its the same world and some things have connections, but its not a "ongoing story" each game has it new main protargonist and some are vildely different time periods. In the first game you find a small village and save the daughter of the mayor. In the second game she is the old and wisened president of the new californian state. In fallout new vegas the NCR has grown up to the Mojave and in an all out war with another faction there.

fallout looks good. they seem to be doing their own story on the setting, while keeping the setting accurate to what its supposed to be. which is good. so nothing like the last of us that is telling the same stuff in the game again. as for the borderlands... holy shit that looks like a shitshow. why? instead of doing something original in the setting, they took already existing characters in the games, either completely change em, or didn't understand why they where liked to start with.... so if you don't know borderlands it probably looks good, if you do, you are like WTF are they doing? why? just make new characters if this is what you going to do.

Yes, the Guardians reference is really good, their both comedic sci-fi stories.

A must watch! I was soooo excited but worried Fallout would not be good. It was amazing, except for the story, everything else is just like the game. They nailed it!

Now that I'm here after the show has come out, as a Fallout fan, I can say that the show is one of the best video game adaptations ever.

Huge fan of the games and I am totally onboard for this ride. It looks like they nailed the aesthetics of Fallout, and Noseless Guy is Walton Goggins from Justified, Django, the Hateful Eight and he is great.

I love Walton Goggins. He was great in Justified. And before anyone says anything about him not sounding like he has throat cancer, there's a ghoul in the very beginning of Fallout 76 that also doesn't speak that way.

None of it is beat for beat, but the studio head is heavily involved with it and making sure that it follows the canon. As far as fallout goes. It looks incredibly promising. Borderlands, on the other hand, look like it could be a trainwreck...

The Noseless guy in the Fallout trailer is indeed a Ghoul. But it is also the same character that does the opening. As other commenters have said, when exposed to radiation some people will turn to ghouls (instead of just rotting away from radiation poisoning). Some people turn into Feral ghouls and are close to mindless while others retain their human intelligence. So it seems that the guy who did the Vault Commercial in the beginning is also the guy who grabs the little girl and running as the bombs land in the background. Seems he was not lucky enough to reach a Vault and instead turned into a Ghoul.

fallout looks incredible. The costumes, the creatures, the tone matches perfectly with the games. A dark, depressing, sometimes tragic story mixed with comedy. Most of what you saw is in the game in some form. In the game the robot (Mr Handy) is a model of robot that is a butler robot. Its voiced by John Cleese in the games and that sounded like him not sure though. Cant give the same praise to borderlands. Your right it is very GotG. The world itself looks amazing. The tone feels off as does the casting. None of them are bad actors but the characters they portray are miss cast. The biggest problem is Roland for me. Roland is a soldier and more stoic and well Kevin Hart is Kevin Hart. Borderlands at its heart is tragic. Its about a bunch of characters who have been through some tragedy in there life and how they deal with that trauma. As a fan of both games I'm excited for Fallout but Borderlands Im very skeptical about.

I was iffy about the Borderlands movie and still am, But I've learned to cut it some slack and embrace the silliness. Yeah, the voice actors are not the same and the characters might be a little different, but honestly, as long as the storyline matches and keeps it interesting, I'm really looking forward to it.

Those like me that have played Fallout are super hyped for the series. The series world looks exactly like the game. The detail level is off the charts. The set builders must have been rabid Fallout fans. In the office, there are papers on the desk that are actual written reports. They are not shown but they are there just in case the director wanted to show them. This was all done before the director arrived on the set. He was expecting a lot of CG and green screens, but it was mainly "built" sets. Walton Goggins is the Ghoul and the salesman.

I like to think of it as a single quest line out of hundreds

As a die hard fan of borderlands and someone who hasn't even completed a single fallout game, Im looking much more forward to the fallout show than the borderlands movie. There are so many things that put me off of the borderlands movie in just the trailer alone but I'll stick to one of the bigger ones here. As some people have commented, the fallout games star different characters in each iteration and take place in completely different regions of the US which lends itself very well to bringing in new characters to expand the story. Borderlands doesn't do this. Pretty much every character in the movie has several games worth of lore and development and the movie isn't going to be telling any of those stories, rather making up a new one that occurs between the first and third games while seemingly retconning some of the story of the first game. The whole trailer seems like fan-fiction that was slapped into the middle of the story while ignoring the first half of the story entirely. I hope it turns out good but I'll definitely wait until reviews come out to watch it whereas I intend to watch fallout as it premiers

The Fallout games are in different cities with different stories. They, and the show, take place in the same universe, though.

i really REALLY hope the show dosen't ruin the east coast lore, Fallout new vegas was the peak of the franchise you should play it altho its old cluncky and prone to crashing it has a fantastic narative and amazing characters, if you want to find out more i would recommend watching Leon Talks a Lot's vids, my personal favorite is his vid about Joshua Graham: "This Character Has Made People Religious".

As a fan of the Fallout games, I feel like they have absolutely NAILED the look and tone of those games. They're satirical, and over-the-top in terms of violence, with that great alternate universe retro-meets-the atomic age vibe. I could not be more excited about the series after seeing the teaser trailer and now the full one. And as others have said, it's not based on a specific game, it's just set in the same world of the games (there's almost no direct continuity between the games; plenty of lore that extends to them all, and a few side characters who pop up in multiple games, but the setting and main character change every time).

Also, I take issue with mixing a character from the BL2 with the story of the first. The big brawny psycho.

I recently (think yesterday) watched a vide from a proper Fallout Lore Nerd who was intreagued after the first Teaser Trailer a few months ago but, with the recent track record of Game-to-Movie/Series adaptation, he was still a bit cautious. There were some liberties taken with "Rule of Cool" and minor things such as "how could that design be used in this place when it was invented across the country", etc. For example the rusted out cars look nowhere like the ones in the game but if that's one of the worst parts it's still pretty decent! But watching the recent video he made he said he was much more at ease with the longer Trailer and pointed out so many similarities where props, weapons, armor and background filler objects were basically taken straight from one of the most recent Fallout games and looked close to identical. Nolan has said in an interview that he sunk over a year into Fallout when he was younger and played the games extensively, and the Fallout game team (or at least Todd Howard) has been connected to the show to make sure it is as Lore accurate as they can make it. The story will be in a location and time where none of the games have been yet so it will not be a full adaptation of already existing material. The games usually let the player make some big and gamechanging decisions. If you decide to help a farmer you can return back and maybe find htey prospered and doing fine, or you clearing out the bad guys made their team want revenge and when you return the family has been slaughtered. Small decisions by the player can lead to nothing or it can lead to vastly different outcomes by the end of the game. Since players can play the game in such different ways Nolan said it would be impossible to make something that would appeal to every Fallout fan out there and the best he could hope for was a story that he felt appealed to him and at least not different enough to alienate too many of the fans.

It can't be beat for beat for Fallout unless they spend multiple seasons doing weird side stuff. It seems to pull from multiple games like Fallout 1 and Fallout New Vegas

Fallout is one of my favorite games ever (especially the first two), and I'm trying to stay calm and not hype myself too much about the show. But holly shit, I'm am hyping myself too much

Fallout is going to be an absolute gem of a show. Watching the show will be nearly like playing the game without the on-screen prompts and displays. The conversation between Lucy and the shop owner has the exact camera angle setup as the game. I will be going to see Borderlands in August but I don't expect any sequels for it. The production budget wound up being around $150 million. I doubt its going to make Avengers level box office. The movie's run time will be about an hour and 40 minutes, not a lot of time for exposition and lore but if its action packed and funny its done its job.

The TV show looks to be *VERY* directly inspired by the games. So many of the props and locations are one-to-one from the games. The _Borderlands_ games always have a goofy as fuck tone, so the movie looks to be going for that too, hence the _Guardians_ overtones.

The fallout trailer looks like it was ripped right out of Fallout 3! (the best Fallout) My hope is that the show explores multiple vaults, they're the best part of the games, each one is like a world unto it's own with a nightmareish story to tell, steaped in a haunting almost clostrophobic atmosphere. I would akin them to like, a horror anthology within the game. This looks sooo good! I CAN'T WAIT!

5:50 I'm cautiously optimistic, and at a guess its probably inspired by the games, i would say its not directly following the games , but from the trailer its not totally clear. I does *look* really good though I think they nailed the costumes and props etc/

Inspired and set in the Fallout universe. The noseless cowboy. Is a ghoul. Ghouls are people that got severe radiation burns but somehow their bodies adapted and changed to be more resilient and for some reason don't seem to age. They can live for centuries.

There's been a lot of complaining about the Borderlands cast (too old, too short, etc), but it has the look of the games down. That is Pandora. From the desolate landscapes, the hobbled together structures, the color schemes, even the "dook hut, no fapping!" porta potty is there.

Vieogame to TV-show adaptation is kind of like 80's action movie to "Saturnday morning cartoon" it will inevitably be diminished for the ake of mass apeal andmedium emands.

I am an avid FALLOUT fan and I must say, this looks to be very good and its true to lore and Todd Howard said that the story here is cannon. I am so pumped! :)

if you want to know if you can trust the guy at the start of fallout trailer just look into the lore of the vaults. there's probably plenty of videos on them

I am skeptical that the Fallout show will capture the feeling of playing the game or the best of the stories that exist within that universe. That said, the writing itself hasn't been great in a hot minute. Borderlands, on the other hand... Borderlands 3 probably set the bar so low that it'll hard not to at least meet it. They might be leaning too hard into the silliness, though. I hope that's just for the trailer, because the games _are_ ludicrous, but there's also lots of heart and drama. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend listening to the audio logs of Patricia Tannis from the first Borderlands game. I'll just link directly to a compilation video. It can't be a beat for beat of the game because the game is a RPG. YOU decide how to play. The Last of Us is a game played on rails, you have to follow the storyline, it guides and directs you to go from one point to the next, so a direct show could be made. The best Fallout can do is bring the lore and essence of the game to be true to the game. About the same can be said about Borderlands..

The Last of Us was a very linear tale, thus well suited to copy as a series. Fallout is a completely open world and every game is different. So if the writers have the creative freedom, they can write pretty much any story, using the basic elements of the game. I have a lot of hope for this series. Fortunately it is only two days away now! We will see...

Ive never played Fallout, I have played Borderlands and Tiny Tinas Adventure. I am looking forward to both of these and think Ill take my kid to see them.

The original borderlands game is very, very dark and depressing with comedy sprinkled in. Borderlands 2 and onward has made it much more of a comedy

I've been playing the Fallout series since Fallout 1 in '97. I've got a good feeling about the series, and can't wait to watch it.

Fallout is so open ended that a TV show can go in any direction. I'm very excited. You should try Fallout 4 before it comes out, it's one of the more modern ones though if you want to please the commenters then you play Fallout: New Vegas.

Fallout: I'm optimistic about this one, 8/10. I've been a fan of the game series since the first, and it has the right look and feel from the bits I've seen so far. The costumes and props fit the game's art direction, Amazon have done a reasonably good job so far translating other mediums into TV series, and it isn't following any of the game's stories so I think that will work in it's favour. Borderlands: Less impressed, but still hopeful, 6/10. It looks just like it should, but the casting is a bit off, fortunately the art direction is on point. But it's trying to reimagine the first Borderlands plot, which I think will work against it, I'm also a huge fan of that series and it feels like they could mess it up. I'll watch both though. Fallout I'll be jumping on day one, Borderlands I might wait for some reviews to come out before I decide whether it's a cinema watch or something to wait for on streaming services.

As a fan of the games, I'm excited for it. It doesn't appear to follow any known stories from the games, but the show ties into the world's lore. I'm hopeful that they'll be able to tell a good fallout style story while remaining faithful to the mood of the world.

No-nose guy is a ghoul. Ghouls are humans that has been exposed to high doses of radiation, and suffers from radiation burns and necrosis. However, due to a mutation the radiation also heals them, leaving them stuck in a halfway state where the necrosis won't go away or heal, but their mutation also doesn't allow it to progress further and kill them. This constant decay and regeneration extend their lifespan a lot. Exactly how old a ghoul can get has never been established, but there are pre-war humans turned ghoul that are still alive after 200 years. Most ghouls are made post-apocalypse though, when humans are exposed to high doses of radiation and the mutation triggers. The guys in power armor is the Brotherhood of Steel. Originally remnants of the US military who decided to hoard pre-war tech to prevent another apocalypse, they have diversified with time. Some still aim to hoard tech and keep it away from other humans. Some try to be something akin to a knightly order that helps the wastelanders. Some aim to rebuild society with themselves as the warlords on top. And the vault dwellers, well, I believe you know a bit about Vault Tec and their human guinea pigs. Unless you were lucky to be in a control vault, where there were no horrible experimentation for reasons of scientific comparison.

That Fallout serial is pretty much sequel to the games

Regarding the Fallout TV show that's coming out .... I have actively hyperventilated several times. Never actually thought it'd ever get this popular, let alone made into a TV show. I'm going to watch it an unhealthy number of times.

"Fun and Scary and Horrible" which is just like playing Fallout so... NAILED IT! Jokes aside, I have been playing Fallout games since the original came out out in 1997 and I am BEYOND excited to see this series. It looks like so many of my dreams/nightmares come true. BTW, the giant pink thing leaping out of the water looks like something called a Gulper, which is a kind of Giant Mutated Salamander, although this one seems to be mutated from an axolotl maybe? Short version, avoid the water, avoid the gulpers, just don't. They are rarely worth the trouble. Although they will eat just about anything (hence the name) so who knows what you find if you cut them open.

Aesthetics of Fallout are completely from the game. Lore of the world, and the history is completely from the game. But these protagonists are completely new side stories. some of the characters are for sure inspired from characters in the games though. Like the Ghoul. As for Borderlands. It's definitely a more Hollywood version of the game series. and will likely piss off a lot of fans. Lol. Might be a fun watch though?
