From what I've heard, 28k+ words is a lot to trim in terms of just removing random words. Usually, an amount like that means you need to remove something more substantial - ie., subplots, character threads, entering ancillary characters (if you have 5 friends, maybe combine 2 characters into 1, things like that). You can also remove steps in a character's arc to streamline the journey so say there are 8 steps to get X object in the book, you would make it 5 steps.
I think Sarah Sutton was trying to get her focus back as she's been struggling with several challenges over the last months. I watch both of you and I love to see you credit her for your inspiration to push to your goal. I have an over-written WIP and am on 176k words that I've been ignoring and at some point I'll have to to do the massive edit, but I won't do that until I finish it and I've stalled. All power to you editing 20-30k from DE!
I remember feeling so proud of being able to write 20,000 words (about 2/3 of my first novella) in two months. The thought of doing that in a matter of weeks is terrifying 😂but anything is possible and I wish you all the power to get your draft done!!!!
Wooooooow!! How awesome is that?! You can be so proud of yourself :D I finally got back into writing as well and cannot wait to finish the first draft. I hit 35K today out of 80K :) Wishing you a wonderful rest of the week and sending you much love and creative vibes
Good morning, Sara and happy Thursday. You would have to write 2,857.15 words a day to make 20,000.05 in 7 days. I'm watching the vlog right now. I like pancakes, but I'm a die-hard fan for waffles and French toast. Anyway, have a nice day and happy editing. ❤
Been editing a draft as well and I'm so close to 20k this week. I think lofty goals are fun. You know what they say, shoot for the moon and if you fail you'll still land among the stars.
Wow, Sarra! 😊 I’m rewriting my teleplay (again) so I get it. It’s tedious sometimes, but I’m trying to see my project as something newer than a few years old. It’s fun, too, but I have so many subplots. 😭😅👍🏻
Uh oh .... roughly 2 years ago you said you were splitting DE into separate books so you could get it under 100K. Under those circumstances, I hope your character removal during this pass gets you most of the way there. 9:30 and 10:00 Yeah, sometimes it's one of those "just get out of the house" moments. Congrats on the 97-minute run. I'm very glad you didn't do that madness outside in Utah. Banana walnut pancake!! I already know how well it goes with syrup, and I guarantee you 2 of those pancakes is worth 10 waffles. 25:45 That landscape is another win. (Minus the wind.) Getting to see your hikes is nice.
Lol I'm pretty sure deciding to make DE a series and not a book was over 4 years ago. I will have to give banana walnut pancakes another go on their own pancake night when I don't want chocolate chips lol. Thanks for watching!!
Hey Sara, I just finished an hour Session where I wrote 2 Pages. I've been writing a lot and I still don't know if I should Publish it because here in my Country you have to pay to Publish your work unlike in the U.S. but I will keep writing no matter what.
Since the treadmill quit on you here's a message that hopefully gives you a little shot of dopamine: Sara completed 6.0 miles on the treadmill and made great time doing it.😂. Great video!!! 333
Hey. Remember the editor sees your manuscript as a draft. Don't worry about the word count too much. If it is too long they will cut it, with your approval. They are firstly and primarily looking for a good story.
Cool you have a gang of writers to meet with. Online and off. I like your little apartment. I wrote my firsy book in a cottage by the sea all alone. You arr making a life for yourself and you will have fond memories. Enjoy the journey.
Congrats on achieving your goal. The whole editing process you're doing is confusing. My brain would never let me edit like this. As long as it works for you, keep it up.
Omg 555 at 16:25. I'm not sure what the meaning is but maybe you could weigh in on that meaning. I like banana chocolate chip pancakes (and muffins). I love french toast the most, but eat the most waffles due to convince of the freezer aisle. I don't think they are vegan but I get the Van's Apple Cinnamon waffles. A plus is they are gluten free.
Well done! 🎉🎉🎉 It's really hard to cut but you can do it🎈🍾. I am waiting for my beta readers for feedback. In the meantime, I am writing my first draft of a romance novel.
Another writer in my city messaged me on instagram and asked if I wanted to join the one she was starting! We meet once a week to write together for a few hours for accountability and to talk through anything we’re struggling with in our writing
I’ve decided pancakes make all videos better. Blueberry pancakes are especially magical. I wanted to leave a link to a video that another writer posted, because I immediately thought of you and the challenges you’ve tried. Especially after seeing you edit a mind blowing amount of words in one week, I figured it might be worth a shot: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2jSOHV16l0c.htmlsi=dXaAmjViCJdD1295
So, is this person doing Milwordy? Lol. I am, and I am a little bit behind since I was sick for the first two weeks. I will catch up, I hope. 🤞 I will at least hit 50k this month.
@@SaraLubratt I’m already at about 27k as of this morning. I need to up my word count each day to catch up. But, I’m still happy with my progress so far.
