I love how she just gets into it and for someone like me who didn't understand it before, I was actually able to follow along how. Love the speed but I feel like there's a lack in a particular explanation about why you only look at the output 1.
Very nice video but pls notice this is not the minimal form of the logic expression.You can put c'd'(b'+b) + bcd', do the calculations and finally you end up with Y = D'C' + D'B.
Probably a bit late, but yes they are just random values, the point is that for any random values of the Y column you can always find expressions of this form
The C column is just part of the "counting" in the truth table. The first line of the inputs in a truth table is 0, then 1, then 2, and so on. How high you go is determined by how many inputs there are. If you have 1 input, you need to have two lines: 0 and 1. If you have 2 inputs, you need 4 lines: 0, 1, 2, 3. If you have 3 inputs you need 8 lines: 0-7. 000 = 0 001 =1 010 = 2 011 = 3 100 = 4 101 = 5 110 = 6 111 = 7 The value for C is the middle number in the above combinations.

And the answer is: look at the cases where a Y is 1 and define Y just like she shows, with respect to B, C and D. Her approach is called canonical representation - Sum of Products
Thank you for the logic expression at the end! I'm working on an assignment which has been extremely poorly explained in the textbooks. Is it true that we shouldn't write anything at all in the column for the truth table where the output is 0? I certainly understand the last part now about the final logic expression (which is part of the question), but we're also asked to complete the truth table with logic expressions (A AND NOT B AND NOT C, etc). We weren't told not to write anything where the output is 0 (i.e round down in my case, this is regarding binary fractions and whether to round up or truncate/round down), but then we weren't told to write anything either. Sorry for being confusing. My head is all over the place and this really is something I could have done in my sleep as a teenager but my brain doesn't work so well as a mature student, learning at a distance. We're dealing with mantissas, which is easy enough, and are in a scenario where we only have 3 bits available so the idea is to round up or truncate. I'm just not sure when completing the truth table if I should do what you did or complete every column, even those where the output is 0 (round down/truncate)?
